Quietly leaving a trace of Light Power attached to Sistine, Mu Xuan took one last look at her before diving into the incision created by her sword.
‘A giant eyeball?’
She couldn’t see it clearly herself, but Sistine could. It had to be said… as the Church’s strongest combatant, Sistine was indeed terrifyingly powerful.
‘It should only be slight pollution, right?’
Mu Xuan was worried about Sistine, but she really needed to resolve the danger below first. Shaking her head, Mu Xuan picked up her speed.
The Light Power inside her body was draining at an extremely fast rate every second. She had to deal with the pollution source before her Light Power was completely exhausted.
Wiping away the nonexistent cold sweat on her forehead, Mu Xuan’s expression grew increasingly solemn. She had once again used Light Power to shield her eyes.
However, she could still see that faint, terrifying shadow. Maddening, distorted whispers echoed continuously in her ears. With every bit of distance she descended, it felt like moving through an extremely viscous liquid.
An overwhelming sense of discomfort filled her entire body, along with a heavy, terrifying oppression, as if she had sunk into the deep sea.
Amidst the horrific whispers echoing in her mind, Mu Xuan could even hear her own heartbeat.
*Thump —*
*Thump —*
The silent fear almost broke Mu Xuan’s spirit in an instant. The Light Power around her was vanishing at an incomprehensible speed, and some of it had even begun to mutate.
‘Damn — it can even distort power at its fundamental level! Just what is this thing underneath?!’
Gripping her scepter tightly, Mu Xuan endured the dull pain in her head and struggled to maintain her sanity so it wouldn’t collapse. No longer holding back her Faith Power, she instantaneously boosted her strength once more.
Only by doing this could she truly get close to… that unfathomable thing at the bottom of the mineral vein.
The giant eyeball!
Casting aside almost every other thought, Mu Xuan left only the image of the giant eyeball in her empty mind. As long as she could destroy that… she could clear the source of pollution!
In the midst of those maddening whispers, only a fixed thought could ensure she could successfully go deeper without her sanity being swallowed and distorted!
“WATCH ME TURN YOU INTO A CRYSTALLINE LENS!”
After descending for an unknown amount of time, a giant eyeball with a bizarre smile appeared before her eyes, and Mu Xuan’s layer of disguise shattered instantly.
Golden blood sprayed out. Feeling the abnormality within her body, Mu Xuan gritted her teeth fiercely.
The conversion of Faith Power could no longer keep up with the consumption of Light Power. Her body was also reaching its limit under the high-load operation.
Her originally delicate face was now covered with marks like shattered glass, and her fair arms were filled with spiderweb-like cracks. Golden blood poured out continuously, accompanied by a massive eruption of Light Power.
“HOLY WORD: JUDGMENT!”
That massive amount of Light Power painstakingly transformed into a light sword, flickering in the thick pollution. Yet, it still moved slowly and resolutely toward the giant eyeball.
“IF IT REALLY DOESN’T WORK, I’LL JUST SELF-DESTRUCT WITH YOU!!!”
Feeling the light sword being worn down faster the closer it got to the eyeball, Mu Xuan’s face, stained with golden blood, became slightly distorted.
However, in the next second, a tentacle suddenly thrust out, piercing through Mu Xuan’s abdomen in an instant.
Endless pollution swept over Mu Xuan’s entire body the moment her Light Power became unstable.
She could no longer feel pain; only countless maddening thoughts flashed through her mind.
Laboriously opening her severely injured eyes, Mu Xuan vaguely saw the giant eyeball reveal a mocking expression.
—
“Sigh, it was still noticed by ‘Him’ after all…”
Luseqi casually tossed the head in his hand aside, and his shepherd’s crook tapped lightly on the ground.
“Sistine, what on earth are you trying to do…”
Looking at the head he had just discarded, a touch of solemnity flashed in Luseqi’s eyes. Then, he looked at the increasing pollution at the bottom of the vein. No longer hesitating, he followed the rift Mu Xuan had cut and slowly stepped inside.
The head Luseqi had thrown to the ground was none other than Sistine’s. At this moment, it was quietly watching Luseqi walk into the depths of the mineral vein, a sickly and bizarre smile on its face.
The shepherd’s crook gently lifted Mu Xuan from the tentacle that had impaled her and pulled her into his arms. After sealing the massive wound in her abdomen, Luseqi laid her flat on the ground.
The surrounding deep-blue barrier fluctuated constantly, showing that the pollution here was trying to erode Luseqi every second.
“Sistine…”
Luseqi could not understand Sistine’s intentions.
Why leave a soul fragment to be eroded by pollution and then stay here as bait?
He could have clearly just bypassed the giant eyeball… and gone straight to destroy the pollution source. But why…
Looking at the piercing wound in Mu Xuan’s abdomen, Luseqi felt distressed, and yet, he could only feel helpless.
He was still too late; ‘He’ also showed a strong tendency to awaken. ‘Sistine… just what are you plotting?’
His withered fingers gently wiped the golden blood from Mu Xuan’s face.
Although there was a kind of broken, divine beauty to it, Luseqi could not appreciate it.
After a heavy sigh, Luseqi drew a circle on the ground with his shepherd’s crook and injected power into it. The circled ground vibrated slightly and then floated up.
Luseqi could only use this method to send Mu Xuan down.
To resolve the pollution here, the source had to be cleared, and currently, only Mu Xuan could do that.
It was clearly such a simple matter…
Luseqi suddenly clutched his forehead in pain, and his shepherd’s crook instantly stabbed into the ground supporting him.
It felt as if several eyeballs had opened in his mind, staring at him coldly. ‘When did this happen?!’
Luseqi was startled. The magic circuits in his body operated at full capacity, trying to push the pollution out of his body.
“Is that Sage Luseqi…?”
Hearing the voice, Luseqi turned his head quickly to look at the Mu Xuan behind him, who was weak and somewhat dazed.
“Yes.”
“Where are we…” Mu Xuan rubbed her head. It seemed she had tugged at the wound in her abdomen, causing her to grimace in pain.
Luseqi did not answer, but calmly looked at their current position.
The moment Mu Xuan was about to ask something, Luseqi suddenly appeared behind her and pressed down hard with his palm.
Instantly, Mu Xuan’s head exploded like a watermelon, and golden blood splattered everywhere.
Sensing that the blood splattered on him contained only deep malice, Luseqi’s eyes were immediately filled with bone-chilling coldness.
“SISTINE!!!”
For the first time in a long while, Luseqi was truly infuriated.
He understood everything now.
Being played once was one thing, but being played a second time —
The shepherd’s crook creaked under Luseqi’s grip, but he eventually managed to steady his mind.
He could not allow himself to have such strong emotional fluctuations here!
