Whether it’s the Elite Kingdom Knight Order or the Adventurer Association, all these contradictory rules they make aren’t really for upholding justice—their real aim is to maintain order.
All these rules are actually there to protect you weakling Adventurers.
If there were no rules and everyone was free to do as they pleased, you rookie Adventurers would be the first ones to die.
But maintaining order is just the stated reason—the real hidden goal is making money.
Only when order is stable can everyone make money steadily.
“Don’t run!”
“Chase them! After them!”
Every few steps the Lost Beast squad took through the Kingdom of Huanxu, they’d see Kingdom Knights chasing after some troublemaking Adventurers.
These Adventurers weren’t really villains.
Most were snatching things, or involved in guild brawls—mostly ignorant, hot-headed young rookies, or some old Adventurers defeated by life.
But the rate at which these incidents happened was just too high.
There were also Adventurers raising small Magical Beasts, swaggering down the streets of the city.
Some Adventurers rode horses through the streets, knocking people over; some put on helmets and committed robberies, only to get beaten half to death and left at the roadside for the Kingdom Knights to pick up.
Now and then, a guild riot would break out.
A large group of Adventurers would block the road, stirring public anger and getting into fights with other Adventurers rushing on their way.
In the blink of an eye, it would turn into a bloody conflict involving hundreds.
The main job of the Kingdom Knights, most of the time, was handling these petty crimes.
Most of the time when you saw them, they were sprinting around.
Feini only now realized that this Huanxu City was truly a [City of Crime].
Anyway, not a single Adventurer here was a goody-two-shoes. A disagreement would lead straight to blades drawn and heavy punches thrown.
The vibe here was completely different from those tidy and orderly otherworlds.
You’d never find a refined Adventurer in this place—only a bunch of gold-crazy maniacs desperately trying to shake off the shackles of exploitation.
But that’s getting off track…
No matter how many prodigies came out of Huanxu City, it had nothing to do with our Lost Beast squad.
After all, no one was less human than our Seven People Group.
—————
“Pfft! Pfft! Pfft! Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!”
The next scene showed the Ogre Camp—which had been a headache for Huanxu City for ages—easily cleaned out by the Lost Beast squad.
The scene in the Ogre Camp was pure hell: skeletons everywhere, the air thick with the stench of rotting corpses.
Normal Adventurers would never dare come to such a place; their Rationality Value would plummet too quickly.
But our squad members were anything but normal.
The bloodier and more terrifying the scene, the more it stirred certain team members’ brutal instincts.
Shijietang Simon hadn’t even given the order yet; the Ogres in the camp were still getting ready to eat, and in the next instant, their heads were twisted off by the Golden Fang Beast Sisters.
As always, those two were the true masters of picking on the weak.
No one understood it better than them.
Ogres might scare ordinary people, but they didn’t faze the Magical Beast Girls at all.
They just loaded the heads onto a cart and swaggered back to Huanxu City.
“Look!”
“It’s Ogre heads!”
At this moment, the Adventurers in Huanxu City finally realized that the real wolves had arrived.
Everything before had just been petty squabbles—nothing compared to this.
A huge crowd followed the Lost Beast squad to the Adventurer Association, buzzing with gossip.
Because Feini and the others brought back the Ogre heads to claim their reward.
The Association Receptionist and Manager didn’t dare be careless.
They immediately invited the girls into the VIP Lounge at the back of the Association, then sent in professionals to appraise the Mission Rating and value.
After all, this group of girls had only been out for about three hours and had already completed one of the toughest missions here—how could they not be taken seriously?
“Dear little heroes, on behalf of the Adventurer Association, we thank you for your contribution to the Human Race.”
Soon, the Association Manager led several Receptionists into the VIP Lounge and handed over a large bag of reward coins.
They also prepared to upgrade everyone’s Adventurer badges.
“You’re busy, and you all reek of blood and filth, hurrying off to bathe. No time to wait for your badge upgrades.” Feini spoke loftily.
Right now, she was really riding the coattails of her powerful friends. Although she was just a slacker bard herself, she had six imposing wolf teammates by her side.
“Bronze or silver—it’s all meaningless to us. We don’t care about such hollow fame,” Xueyuedai Emma added coldly. “We only registered here to avoid trouble, not to get involved in your messes.”
Fox Fox chimed in to support Feini, and her words even sent a literal chill drifting through the air.
The temperature in the room dropped noticeably, scaring the Receptionists and Manager half to death.
“You may go bathe first and come back for your new badges later. Here are some discount vouchers for the high-class bathhouse next door—just a small token.”
The Association Manager bowed and grinned humbly as he pulled out a few discount coupons and set them on the table.
Only then did Feini reluctantly wave her hand, handing over the seven still-warm Bronze Adventurer badges.
But inside, she was overjoyed—because the upgraded Adventurer badges would have their names engraved on them.
That meant they’d officially become recognized members of the race—their official ID cards.
It also meant their assignment was done. They could return to the God and Demon Academy at any time for a big reward.
But before that, the Lost Beast squad went to the nearby High-Class Roman Bathhouse.
Here came the classic otherworld “fanservice” moment!
Everyone entered the women’s dressing room. The Tooth Beast Sisters and White Feather Dove stripped off in a flash, dove straight into the big bath, utterly shameless.
The other four, though, squirmed and hesitated, overly polite, forcing awkward smiles as they slowly undressed, moving so sluggishly it looked like a contest to see who could undress the slowest.
It was both funny and impossible to keep a straight face.
Especially Xueyuedai Emma—she even turned away out of shyness, not daring to glance at Feini.
Even one look might be enough to burst the dam. She could only hide in a corner and wallow in sorrow alone.
After all, Fox Fox still had the negative side effect of Mental Contamination in her mind.
Although the effect had lessened recently, it still hadn’t completely disappeared.
She didn’t know what her body would do if she saw Feini naked, but it definitely wouldn’t be anything good.
To preserve her last shred of dignity in the team, she’d better not look too much.
If something weird happened in front of her teammates, where would she put her pride? Fox Fox still had her pride!
She even suddenly got a wicked impulse. Hidden in a corner where no one could see, her small hand darted out and gave Feini’s butt a quick grab.
“?” Feini jumped in surprise and looked at Xueyuedai Emma in confusion.
“Move aside, you’re in my way. I’m going in first.” Xueyuedai Emma still put on her icy facade, pretending nothing had happened as she took the lead.
Fox Fox sat by the edge of the bath, graceful and quiet, dignified and elegant, like a living painting.
In terms of overall beauty, Xueyuedai was the squad’s textbook perfect beauty—unlike the other oddball anthropomorphized girls.
Her figure wasn’t too tall, too skinny, too short, or too plump; she had curves where it mattered, skin white as snow—flawless, like a work of art.
But as the saying goes, the more perfect someone is, the more they love broken things.
Where no one else could see, Fox Fox looked at her own pale little paw, savoring the lingering feel from earlier.
Her expression grew gloomy, lips pouting, and she pressed her hand to her face.
“Bie lu~ bie lu~”
