The Kingdom of Huanxu is vast, but gossip spreads at lightning speed—no matter if it’s a big event or a small incident, it will travel across the entire city in no time.
If you want to get by here, information is extremely important.
The seven members of the Lost Beast entered the Adventurer Guild, heading straight to the Receptionist at the front desk.
“Is there anything I can help you with?”
Behind them trailed a large crowd of curious Adventurers, as if a group of celebrities had arrived.
It gave the Receptionist quite a fright.
But once she got a clear look at who had come, the Receptionist immediately understood.
These were definitely the mysterious group of seven girls who had stirred up all of Huanxu City earlier in the day.
“We want to register as Adventurers,” said Feini.
As soon as she spoke, the hall erupted.
“So they haven’t joined the Adventurer Guild yet?”
“I heard people guessing they might be the guards of some major Noble Lady.”
“Yeah, they’ve got two mages in the team—that lineup is way too luxurious.”
“Maybe those two mages are the real Noble Ladies.”
“That makes sense. If a noble family has mages, of course, they’d arrange experts to protect them.”
The surrounding Adventurers began gossiping and making wild guesses.
But actually, this was a good thing.
We’re all people without identities; if it hadn’t been for the Kingdom Knights Vice Captain mistaking White Feather Dove for the Hero of the Countryside, we wouldn’t have even gotten in this easily.
Now, the Adventurers had given us a reasonable background and identity all on their own—how wonderful, we didn’t even need to come up with one ourselves.
Shijietang Simon and Xueyuedai Emma played their parts as noble ladies perfectly, which helped us immensely.
Their appearances alone were enough to keep ruffians at bay, greatly reducing the chances of getting pestered by troublemakers.
“Seven people, right? Please fill out the information here.” The Receptionist took out seven registration forms and handed them to the group.
Feini took the forms and, along with her sisters, found a table in the Adventurer Hall to sit down and fill them out.
Most of the team were illiterate; the Golden Fang Beast Sisters and White Feather Dove simply handed their forms to Feini to fill out.
Shijietang and Xueyuedai also asked Feini for help, sitting beside her and watching.
Only Qingshamu could fill out her own form—not because she liked reading, but because this was already her second time registering.
Feini’s constant diligent studying had finally paid off; she could remember many place names from the Human Race, and also knew a lot about the Adventurer Guild.
For the address information, they just needed to write something plausible. As long as it wasn’t too outrageous, there wouldn’t be a problem.
The most important part was the name. You could even use a fake name, but the Adventurer Guild would only recognize the name on the form.
So strictly speaking, as long as you paid the fee, you could register as an Adventurer—there was no threshold, no skill required at all.
Very quickly, Feini had faked identities for everyone.
Most importantly, on the team name line—which could be left blank—she wrote: [Lost Beast].
However, the Adventurer Guild’s officials generally didn’t care about small team names; they only recognized the large Adventurer Guilds.
A squad’s power and influence were too weak, unless it was a truly famous team—like the legendary Yongzhe Xiaodui. Otherwise, no one would care about the squad name.
For the more cold and ruthless Demonic Beasts, teams were just like droppings on the roadside—completely insignificant.
Yet at this moment, the Demonic Beast girls all felt a certain power from that team name.
It was a feeling they’d never experienced before, a bond impossible to feel back when they were just Demonic Beasts.
After handing in the forms and the registration fee, the seven of them officially became the lowest-ranked Bronze Adventurers.
Each of them received a Bronze Badge to prove their identity as Adventurers.
“When everyone is promoted to higher-ranked Adventurers, our Guild will issue you brand new badges. You can even have your names engraved on them,” the Receptionist explained mechanically.
The seven members of Lost Beast turned and left the front desk, eagerly heading to the nearby Task Wall, which was covered in Adventurer missions.
Most of them were hunting Demonic Beasts, or collecting rare materials—though the materials usually required defeating Demonic Beasts to obtain.
Of course, the Demonic Beast girls had no sympathy for Demonic Beasts, happily discussing which one to hunt first.
Their various naive behaviors made the old Adventurers see them as complete newbies.
It made everyone remember themselves back in the day: the first time in front of the Task Wall, everyone was just as excited.
But reality would quickly bring everyone back to earth. Being an Adventurer was far from romantic—it was a brutal job, licking blood from the blade’s edge.
Adventurers who made a splash and got rich overnight were rare; more often, people ended up as waste in the bellies of Demonic Beasts.
Very soon, Feini found a suitable mission.
It was not far from Huanxu City, and the difficulty was quite high—no one had been able to handle it so far.
But for our squad, which had the Hero of the Countryside and the Rural Demon King, it was as easy as crushing an ant.
“There’s an Abandoned Outpost just two kilometers from Huanxu City. It’s been taken over by a large group of Ogres. Our mission is to go there and wipe them all out.”
This was another fantastical situation.
There were clearly over a thousand Kingdom Knights stationed nearby, yet their own outpost had been occupied by Ogres, their comrades eaten, and even passersby often attacked by the Ogres.
But they still didn’t go and take back the Abandoned Outpost.
That’s because, by law, the Abandoned Outpost was no longer under the Kingdom Knights’ jurisdiction—it had become a mission for the Adventurer Guild.
Only Adventurers were allowed to accept it; Kingdom Knights had no right to interfere.
If a Kingdom Knight tried to do justice, they could even be fined or dismissed when they returned.
Even if you were a passing Hermit Expert doing good, you’d still be held accountable by the Adventurer Guild for interfering with their commission fee.
Money wasn’t even the most important thing—the real issue was the Adventurer Guild’s authority. Face was what really mattered.
No way would they allow anyone who wasn’t an Adventurer to steal their prey.
It was fantastical, overbearing, with so many rules it made your head spin.
But society didn’t become more civilized for having more rules—instead, it only got more chaotic and contradictory.
This was the Human Race.
“All right, let’s go.” Feini went to the Adventurer supply store and bought the latest Map that every Adventurer must have, making sure they were fully prepared, and the whole group set out.
“Feini, you said it wrong,” Shijietang corrected her, “You’re supposed to say: ‘Lost Beast~~~ Move out!’”
“Ugh!” Xueyuedai suddenly gagged from the side.
“Emma, are you okay?” Feini asked worriedly.
“Uh… was it something I said that made you sick?” Shijietang asked innocently.
“No, I’m fine.” Xueyuedai clutched her stomach and waved her hand to show it was nothing.
She herself found it odd. Why did she suddenly feel nauseous for no reason?
