Seeing this, Felusa slowly lowered her guard.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to be on guard, but rather that she didn’t dare to be. If she showed even a hint of hostility, the other party would undoubtedly turn her into ash without a second thought.
That was right—the person before them belonged to the Dragon Race.
They were the legendary race that had long since gone into seclusion.
It was said that twenty years ago, they had completed a mission passed down for 20,000 years, finally and truly slaying the Demon God that had been sealed for two millennia.
Since then, they had lived in hiding.
They did not interfere in worldly affairs, nor were they willing to show off their strength.
However, they still harbored a deep love for the world.
If any invasive species ever attempted an incursion, they would inevitably step forward to help.
The Demon God that the Scarlet Phantom wanted to summon was clearly an invasive species. That was precisely why Felusa had tried to stop it, fearing she would attract the attention of the Dragon Race.
Unfortunately, they had been discovered anyway.
She also hadn’t expected the Demon God to descend in such a half-finished state.
Even if it was incomplete, an aura that did not belong to this world would break the natural balance. As long as the Dragon Race sensed it, they would send someone to investigate.
The white-robed girl looked at Felusa with disdain.
However, she hesitated for a brief moment when her gaze fell upon Millie.
Specifically, when she saw Millie’s long white hair.
But that hesitation lasted only a second before she lost interest. She gave a light hop, instantly appearing on the battlefield, and walked slowly toward the summoning circle.
Millie wanted to say something, but Felusa covered her mouth.
“If you don’t want to die, keep your mouth shut!”
Millie froze for a moment and then nodded.
The white-robed girl knelt beside the magic circle and touched its edge with her hand.
She then walked to the spot where the Demon God had died and collected a small amount of the black ash it had left behind.
Having finished her task, she stood up. The evening wind blew, pushing back her hood to reveal silver twin tails fluttering in the breeze as she slowly turned around.
“Did you two destroy the Demon God?”
Millie nodded, not daring to be even slightly disrespectful.
“Good work.”
Her voice was very soft, yet Millie could hear her clearly. The evening wind rustled the leaves, but the sound did not drown out her voice.
In the next instant, the girl was standing right in front of Millie.
Millie sucked in a breath, nearly crying out in surprise.
Even though she hadn’t looked away for a second, she hadn’t seen the girl move at all.
The white-robed girl opened her Dimensional Storage, and from the swirling black vortex, she took out a card.
“Why don’t you take this card for now?”
“A card?…”
Utterly confused, Millie took the card offered to her.
The card was a transparent film with a narcissus flower pressed in the middle. Regardless of its size or thickness, it looked exactly like a screen protector for a phone.
Millie held the film, unable to make heads or tails of it.
“If you encounter a Demon God again, tear the card. It will summon a familiar, and I will also sense the mana signature and come to support you as quickly as possible.”
“Ah… well, thank you…”
Millie had already guessed that the girl might be from the Dragon Race.
After all, Elena had mentioned that the strength of the Dragon Race had reached the pinnacle and could not be judged by common sense. Furthermore, they were all worldly experts who basically ignored common affairs.
Added to how nervous Felusa was, the girl was likely a Dragon, right?
Still, the Dragon Race seemed rather kind?
They weren’t at all like the murderous demons Elena had described.
‘As expected, a witch sees everything as evil. In fact, she’s probably the evil one!’
The white-robed girl turned to leave but suddenly noticed something. She snapped her head back, staring intently at Felusa. Felusa felt cold sweat trickling down her back.
“Hmm? Aren’t you Ele—”
“Ahhh!” Felusa shrieked, hurriedly interrupting the white-robed girl in a panic. “That, excuse me… is this Demon God an invasive species?”
“Technically, yes, though it wasn’t very strong,” the white-robed girl said, looking toward the ashes. “It seems to share the same origin as the Evil God we destroyed back then, but it didn’t have much power.”
“Same origin… I see…”
Felusa nodded as if she understood, though her spine still felt a bit chilled.
After all, she had just interrupted a member of the Dragon Race.
But she had no choice. She had worked so hard to trick Millie. If the white-robed girl had said, “Aren’t you Elena in disguise?” everything would have been ruined.
The white-robed girl did not show any signs of displeasure.
She looked at Felusa, then looked at Millie’s stomach. Millie’s face turned bright red, and she quickly covered her lower abdomen, feeling as though the fact that she was pregnant had been seen through.
‘She probably won’t say anything. She shouldn’t be that bored, right?’
“You two are an interesting pair.”
The white-robed girl smiled and said nothing more.
She opened a dimensional rift and stepped inside.
Only after the rift closed did Millie breathe a sigh of relief.
Her legs felt a bit weak; fortunately, she hadn’t made a fool of herself.
“Was… was that the Dragon Race?…”
Felusa didn’t answer and simply nodded silently. she forced a smile, though beads of sweat were visible on her forehead.
“It seems the Demon God disturbed them. Luckily, the Demon God was destroyed. Otherwise, if the Dragon Race had stepped in, not a single blade of grass would have been left standing in this area.”
“Whoa, you’re so well-informed?”
Millie looked at Felusa suspiciously.
Only then did Felusa remember that she wasn’t Elena right now, but the Saintess of the Church of the Goddess. Theoretically, Felusa shouldn’t have known about the Dragon Race.
However, she couldn’t afford to lose her composure now.
“I’ve only heard rumors. I didn’t expect to actually see one. That was a close call. Luckily, she didn’t attack us…”
“I thought the Dragon was quite kind?”
“Maybe it’s because she thought you were cute?”
Felusa knew exactly why the Dragon had been kind.
The white-robed girl’s mother also had white hair.
Seeing Millie reminded the girl of her own mother. No matter how ruthless the Dragon Race could be, they wouldn’t be able to bring themselves to harm a young girl who looked so much like their mother.
However, the one who understood the Dragon Race was Elena, not Felusa! She had already exposed many flaws; she couldn’t afford any more slips of the tongue.
“Since things are finished here, shall we go check on the party?”
“Right, we have to catch the witch from the Scarlet Phantom!”
“Scarlet Phantom?”
Felusa was, of course, feigning ignorance, as it made her disguise more convincing.
“Hmph, you wouldn’t understand, would you?”
Millie puffed out her chest proudly and wagged a finger at Felusa. “When witches gather together, they form alliances. They call them ‘Blood Alliances’.”
“The Scarlet Phantom is the culprit this time.”
“As for that bastard witch, she seems to be the leader of the Moon Hymn Alliance. There’s also another girl in a black robe who seems to be the object she vents her emotions on?”
“Are you kidding me! …Ah! …”
Felusa instinctively covered her mouth. Millie looked over curiously.
“What did you say?…”
“Nothing…” Felusa felt incredibly guilty. “I was just shocked that witches actually have organizations and alliances, so I felt a moment of indignation…”
“Exactly! The bad guys are ganging up. It’s so annoying!”
Millie swung her small fists and stomped her feet as if the bastard witch were an ant on the ground that she wanted to crush to death.
Felusa, meanwhile, secretly let out a breath of relief.
She really shouldn’t have lost her cool, even if Millie was insulting her character. If Millie became suspicious, how was she supposed to abduct her later or get her to open the cell door?
