“Pay back the money?”
“Yeah, I can pay you 4,000 first, and the rest should be paid off by next month.”
Xiaoxi let out a breath, feeling much lighter, as if a huge mountain had been lifted off her shoulders.
As long as she kept working hard, her life would definitely get better and better.
“By the way, speaking of which, aren’t you moving back soon?”
“Why, are you that eager for me to move out?” Ye Xinglan immediately pouted.
“Of course not! I just suddenly remembered there was this matter.”
Xiaoxi recalled this when paying rent. Ye Xinglan initially said she was staying temporarily to avoid an arranged marriage, just one month.
Now, Xiaoxi had been working at Miss Su Ying’s shop for a month.
Come to think of it, although she was currently pretending to be Ye Xinglan’s girlfriend, Xiaoxi realized she knew nothing about this young lady’s background.
Ye Xinglan’s past was even more mysterious than hers.
All Xiaoxi knew was that Ye Xinglan was very rich, probably some noble family’s daughter.
She was dissatisfied with the family’s arranged marriage, and that was all.
But… Xiaoxi shrugged. She wasn’t very curious about Ye Xinglan’s background anyway.
Honestly, if it weren’t for the accidental cohabitation, she might never have met someone like Ye Xinglan.
“Yeah, it’s about time to go back, right?” Ye Xinglan answered absentmindedly. “I’ll wait until Aluan contacts me… basically until my family stops bothering me about the marriage.”
“But if you want to… never mind, forget I said anything.”
Xiaoxi was kicked out of the room, and with a loud “slam” of the door, Ye Xinglan lay on the bed covering her head with a pillow.
She had almost said, “If you want, you can keep living here,” but swallowed the words back.
Under the pillow came a long muffled groan.
She knew her recent attitude towards Xiaoxi had been bad, but it wasn’t because she was angry at her, it was because she was thinking about something… whether she really liked Xiaoxi.
Ye Xinglan had no experience with this sort of thing and no friends to talk to about it. Besides liking or not, there were other problems.
Like her own identity, the fact that after Aluan contacted her she might have to leave here, even Summersea City, and whether Xiaoxi was really the Magical Girl Sirius…
Honestly, Ye Xinglan cared quite a bit about this. Putting aside her own identity, she just couldn’t convince herself she liked a Magical Girl.
And more importantly, Xiaoxi always seemed to be hiding something from her.
Although Xiaoxi had her own life and wasn’t her subordinate… that feeling made Ye Xinglan very uncomfortable!
……
The next morning, watching Xiaoxi hurriedly finish breakfast and grab her coat to leave, Ye Xinglan pouted unhappily.
“Going out in such a rush again, still planning to meet the Eternal Star, right?”
“No! I told you we hardly ever contact each other. Fans and friends aren’t the same. Just pretend I don’t know her, it’s no different!”
“I’m going out… for something else.”
Xiaoxi defended herself. Ever since promising Miss L, she often had to go out in the mornings for Association work, but recently Ye Xinglan seemed very curious about her whereabouts.
Today was important though. Miss L had informed her and Xiaohongmao beforehand.
The variety show crew was coming to film Muxingge’s daily work.
That’s what idols were like—no matter what they did, someone wanted to watch.
Ye Xinglan could tell Xiaoxi was brushing her off, and knowing she had no right to press further made her choke on her words.
After a few seconds of silence, Ye Xinglan suddenly stood up and quickly walked over to wrap her arms around Xiaoxi’s shoulders.
“Xinglan, what… are you doing?”
Ye Xinglan said nothing, just bit down on Xiaoxi’s neck.
Xiaoxi was startled but didn’t struggle. A faint sting spread across her neck, and a few seconds later Ye Xinglan lifted her head and wiped her mouth.
“Xinglan, that’s…”
Xiaoxi blushed completely. After living together so long, Ye Xinglan had never touched her like this. This sudden hickey made her a little shy.
“Fake couple stuff,” Ye Xinglan rolled her eyes. “That way, when you go out, others will know you have a partner.”
Seeing the pink mark on Xiaoxi’s neck, Ye Xinglan nodded with satisfaction, her possessiveness lightly appeased.
Her idea was simple: no matter who Xiaoxi was going to see, she’d better take this hickey with her!
An hour later, inside a mall on North Avenue.
When Xiaoxi and the others arrived, a figure about twice human height was roaring in the center of the corridor.
“Why! I put out all my savings, why am I the only one losing money!”
“It’s all your fault! You stole my money, give me back my money!”
Black energy swirled around the figure, expanding steadily. The figure lifted a massage chair and smashed it toward a nearby store without caring.
Xiaoxi raised an eyebrow. This appeared to be an Original Kaijin infected by Negative Mana.
These were increasingly rare nowadays.
From the corner of her eye, Xiaoxi noticed several cameras now all focused on this scene.
For ordinary people, encountering a Kaijin attack was unlucky, but for the variety show crew filming today, they probably hoped a Kaijin attack would happen during the morning patrol.
It wasn’t that the crew had anti-social tendencies, but magic girl battles with Kaijin made for better show, didn’t they?
So as a Righteous Magic Girl, Muxingge stood seriously a few meters from the Kaijin—
“It’s the stage, the spotlight, the countless overlapping cheers.”
“Friends in the audience, how are you all!”
After Muxingge shouted “Transform” at the end, the two immediately clashed.
Three cameras simultaneously filmed from different angles, leaving Xiaohongmao, responsible for evacuating the crowd, blinking in confusion.
“Senior Xingge seems… weird today?”
“What? Oh, you mean the Transformation Phrase?” Xiaoxi said casually. “That’s normal, probably what the crew requested.”
Like most shows, every Magic Girl had her own Transformation Phrase.
The moment a Magic Girl awakens, she naturally knows her Awakening Symbol and Transformation Phrase.
But in truth, as long as you have the intention to transform and silently recite the phrase, that’s enough.
Usually no one shouts it out loud—it’s just too awkward and cliché otherwise.
