“Alice!”
A tall girl with short chestnut hair pushed open the door and rushed into the dormitory. Her figure was slender and curvy, exuding an aura of valor, yet she also gave off a vibe that warned strangers to keep their distance.
At this moment, her cold voice was tinged with a hint of anxiety, as if she were genuinely worried about Alice.
When she saw Alice sitting calmly by the bed, looking as healthy as ever, Field finally breathed a sigh of relief.
“You’re okay, right? I heard that during this afternoon’s Practical Combat Class, someone sent you flying into the sky.”
Field’s tone turned cold again. Although she was expressing concern, it sounded more like a polite question rather than genuine care.
Field had been in the classroom for the afternoon class, but the sudden gust of wind outside caught her attention. Peering through the window, she vaguely saw a figure being blown into the air—someone who looked very much like Alice.
Uneasy, Field came to the playground after class to inquire. Alice’s classmates confirmed that the figure blown away was indeed Alice. They had only seen her swept up into the sky but didn’t know where she had landed. The Mage Teacher had gone to track Alice.
Upon hearing this, Field was instantly furious. The Practical Combat Class was supposed to be just a friendly sparring session—who dared to be so vicious?
Just as Field was about to rush to the school’s back mountain, the Mage Teacher returned. She told Field that Alice was fine and that she had already sent her back to the dormitory.
So, Field hurried back to the dormitory in a rush.
“That did happen,” Alice admitted.
“Are you hurt?”
Field frowned. She knew Alice was the only Commoner in the Academy and was aware of the arrogant and domineering nature of the Nobles, who looked down on Commoners.
But she hadn’t expected those Nobles to be so bold as to bully someone like that.
“No.”
Alice shook her head and added, “Maybe it was just the thin air up there. I felt dizzy when I first came down, but now I’m fine. The Mage Teacher told me to rest in the dorm for a while, though.”
“Good to hear you’re fine.”
Field appeared calm on the surface but was secretly relieved. However, she still wanted to find out who dared to lay hands on her people.
Whether it was a prank or had other motives, Field was determined to teach that person a lesson.
“Who was the one who blew you up into the air?”
“Ah, that was Liyakade.”
“Oh… her.”
Field gently propped her chin with her left hand, putting on a contemplative expression. She had some impressions of Liyakade—not only because of her unusual white hair but also due to some unfavorable rumors about her.
It was said that before enrolling, Liyakade had been wreaking havoc in her own territory, oppressing the Commoners. She was a typical spoiled Noble brat who always wore a scowl after entering the Academy. Moreover, Liyakade was closely connected to Irina Zi, the Chancellor’s daughter.
Field had known Irina Zi since childhood and felt an inexplicable dislike for her. She always thought Irina Zi was hypocritical. Despite Irina’s flawless etiquette, social skills, and academic performance, Field’s intuition told her Irina Zi was a dangerous person.
If Liyakade was on such close terms with Irina Zi, she probably wasn’t a good person either.
“Heh, interesting.”
Field’s tone grew cold, just like in the original storyline. Liyakade had once again caught the attention of Princess Field.
“She’s my new friend.”
“Hmm… hmm!?”
Field responded absentmindedly.
After a two-second pause, she finally registered what Alice had said and shot her a puzzled look.
“Huh? Friend?”
“Yeah.”
Alice didn’t notice Field’s awkward expression at all. She smiled warmly and went on, “Although Liyakade made mistakes before, she’s basically a good kid. And she’s changed now, so we became friends.”
“A friend who blows you into the sky?!”
Field thought Alice was too naive. She knew Alice was a kind-hearted innocent, the type easily deceived. Alice must have been totally PUA’d by Liyakade to defend her like this.
“She said she wanted to take me to see the scenery behind the mountain, so she carried me flying there.”
“Wha-what!?”
Field nearly lost it. The back mountain of the Academy had always been her secret base. Whenever she felt down, she’d go up to the summit to clear her mind and enjoy the view. Hearing Alice’s words, she felt as if someone had broken into her home.
“Besides, she’s really amazing, able to control wind elements and carry me. She protected me the whole time up there.”
Alice seemed to gush about Liyakade, “When the teacher came looking for me, Liyakade said she took me without permission. She was the one punished with writing a self-criticism.
Afterwards, she even worried I might catch a cold from dizziness and had the teacher send me back. Liyakade is really kind.”
“Is… that so?”
Field listened to Alice’s words, feeling a strange sourness in her chest. This was nothing like the rumors about Liyakade!
Now Field was more certain than ever that Alice had been totally PUA’d by that Liyakade!
“Alice really found a goooood friiiend, huh.”
Field forced a smile that didn’t reach her eyes and deliberately emphasized the words “good friend.”
Not only had Liyakade stolen her secret base, but now she was trying to PUA her best friend. Field’s patience was at its limit. She had to find out exactly who Liyakade was.
***
Night fell, and Liyakade sat at the desk, scribbling furiously.
The dormitory door was once again pushed open roughly, startling Liyakade so much she almost dropped her pen.
Does this BYD never knock?
Suppressing the urge to crush her pen, Liyakade respectfully stood and bowed.
“Master.”
“Mm.”
Irina Zi’s mood seemed quite cheerful, a smile flickering at the corners of her eyes.
“Liyakade, you did well. I’ve already heard. You sent that woman flying all the way to the back mountain. Quite the spectacular performance.”
“Not at all, it’s my honor to serve you, Master.”
Honor my ass. Just finish talking and get out of my room!
“That annoying brat didn’t show up all afternoon, such a relief. Here, a reward for you.”
Saying so, Irina Zi tossed over a pouch of Gold Coins.
“Treat yourself well, you obedient dog. Keep up the good work, you won’t be neglected.”
“…Master, please take care.”
If it weren’t for Liyakade having no source of income, she would’ve smashed the pouch of Gold Coins into Irina Zi’s face.
End-stage cancer? Yeah, Irina Zi’s words sounded like they came from someone with end-stage cancer. Why would I obey words like those?
Yeah, that’s right.
I really… can’t go on living like this for another day!
