I really shouldn’t dwell on things every day.
That night, Xia Yu happened to dream of an embarrassing memory.
“Because I’m practicing Qi Refining, I can’t eat food that’s too hot. I take care of the cold dishes, and Little Xia handles the other part.”
“Why not just tell the cafeteria Auntie not to serve hot dishes?”
“Yeah, but when I was serving myself, I heard that ever since Little Xia came to the Hospital, she hasn’t eaten properly.”
Xia Yu’s eyes were blind.
Sometimes, when the sanatorium got busy, no one could really look after her.
Often, she’d put aside little pieces of bread or buns and eat them only when she was hungry.
“We eat together, so only the two of us know the secret of my picky eating.”
“Okay…”
The Young Man gently picked up some food and brought it to Xia Yu’s mouth—that was their very first secret.
As time went by, the two became close friends who shared everything.
“What’s the use of Qi Refining?”
“To strengthen myself, and on the other hand, to heal patients.”
The Young Man looked at Xia Yu’s eyes, which couldn’t be healed, and suddenly thought of an idea.
Every time he passed by Xia Yu’s ward, he’d see the Head Doctor frowning, looking frustrated as if many methods had failed.
“Little Xia, want to give it a try? Although I just started practicing and am not very skilled yet.”
The Young Man lifted his right hand, gently touching the white bandage on Xia Yu’s face, speaking seriously and tenderly:
“I once saw my dad hold my mom in his arms. They pressed their mouths together, transmitting Qi into her body, and before long, my mom got better.”
“Really?”
Xia Yu was a little nervous and hesitant.
“Want to try?”
Like a chick pecking grain, Xia Yu nervously nodded, and her lips felt a cool and soft touch—like jelly with a faint sweetness.
Then, a refreshing sensation spread inside her mouth as the other’s power slowly entered her body.
Xia Yu tensed her frail little body.
The transmission process was so intense she didn’t know how to breathe; her mind went blank.
“Done.”
After a while, it was only when she heard the Young Man’s reminder that Xia Yu realized she had been released.
Yet her heart was still racing.
She stood there dazed, placing her soft little hand on her chest, trying to calm her speeding heartbeat.
“How do you feel? Better?”
Xia Yu gasped for breath, feeling a flow of Qi coursing through her body before settling.
“This Spiritual Power will slowly assimilate inside you.”
As if marking her own property, the Young Man continued,
“I can sense your position through the Spiritual Power left inside you…”
Xia Yu listened carefully, then noticed a subtle change in the Young Man’s voice.
“No matter where you are, I can find you.”
Xia Yu suddenly opened her eyes and smelled the sterile scent of disinfectant in the air.
Looking up at the white ceiling, she choked up and nervously asked:
“How long have I been asleep?”
“You slept until after school.”
A woman with golden curls, dressed in a white coat, sat at the desk grading students’ assignments.
Hearing a male voice, Xia Yu wiped the sweat from his forehead, and his unease eased considerably.
“Sleeping this long, you must have been exhausted.”
Xia Yu sighed.
Just as he was calming down, the Infirmary Teacher coldly said:
“Don’t come sleeping here if you’re not sick.”
Xia Yu was a frequent visitor to the infirmary, sneaking in every few days.
“I came to get my wound bandaged.”
Xia Yu raised his hand, showing the still-unhealed wound on the back of his hand.
Looking up, the Infirmary Teacher was still focused on grading, not bothering to look his way.
“See, it’s still fresh.”
Xia Yu pointed at his wound, deliberately putting on a pitiful face, but the beautiful blonde Auntie didn’t even glance at him.
“I came to check and you weren’t here, but when you came back, you were already asleep.”
“Did you apply for leave this month?”
“Not yet.”
“Have you been taking your Medication on time?”
“Haven’t taken today’s dose.”
The golden-haired woman immediately put down her pen, sighed heavily, and furrowed her slender brows.
Her emerald eyes glared angrily at the boy on the bed.
“You didn’t take your Medication, and you didn’t ask for leave. Young Master Xia is really busy. Do you need me to find you a secretary to arrange your schedule?”
“No, no, no, that’s not necessary.”
The Infirmary Teacher glanced at Xia Yu’s weary appearance and thought to herself that since half of his blood was from the Blood Clan, he was naturally weaker than normal people during the day and didn’t seem in good shape.
But only a few knew about his situation—she and Xia Yu’s homeroom teacher were two of them.
The Infirmary Teacher’s mouth curled into a sly yet charming smile.
“Or could it be that you finally decided to live the rest of your life as a woman?”
“No! I just threw my Medication in the classroom and will take it when I get back.”
Seeing Xia Yu’s panicked look, the teacher put down her pen and comforted him patiently.
“It’s okay. If you really can’t be a boy anymore, big sister will give you a present—a little dress~”
Seeing Xia Yu shiver, the teacher continued warmly:
“Looks like your hair is dyed too? It was originally silver, right? I could even take you to a convention. No need for colored contacts—naturally cosplaying a silver-haired, red-eyed beauty. How about that?”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea!”
This is no place to linger!
Xia Yu quickly got up from the bed and saw the teacher’s increasingly expectant smile, so he hurriedly left.
“Thanks for the bed, teacher! I’m going to take my Medication now.”
Wanting to say more, the Infirmary Teacher finally shut her mouth and returned to grading assignments.
The Medication Xia Yu took was hard to find on the market.
It was potent and had severe side effects.
When she learned Xia Yu was taking such drugs to suppress his bodily changes, she was strongly opposed.
Because of regular use, it was clear Xia Yu’s development was slower than that of normal males, and might have even stopped altogether.
One day, Xia Yu’s body would develop resistance to the drugs and would have to face the truth.
Xia Yu left the infirmary and, on the way back to class, raised his arm to wipe his mouth.
His ears were still flushed.
He hated having such dreams and didn’t want what the teacher mentioned to come true.
That was his first kiss, and the first time he felt his heart could race so wildly.
“Yu Ge, are you camping out in the infirmary again?”
Mu Yiqiu, who had just picked up his backpack and was about to leave, saw Xia Yu walking in from outside.
Glancing at the classmates who had already packed up and left, he casually asked,
“Did that guy leave?”
“Yeah. Mo Yidong wants to rent a place nearby, so I recommended a good agency and even drew a map with a shortcut marked for him.”
Mu Yiqiu said kindly.
Xia Yu pondered for a moment, then smiled, patting his shoulder in praise:
“Haha… you’re really kind-hearted.”
“Wanna walk back together?”
The shortcut Mo Yidong took had become a hangout for a group of thugs from Class Eleven.
They smoked and fought there secretly, extorted passage fees from lower grades, and threatened them with knives if they refused.
Now, hardly anyone took that route.
“No, I’ve got some things to take care of.”
Since Xia Yu barely opened his books anyway, it didn’t matter whether he carried his backpack or not.
He just left school empty-handed.
