“I feel like this thing wasn’t designed for the wearer to look at, but for certain perverts to see,” An Ling murmured, her eyebrows rising slightly as she finished putting on her clothes.
Holding the stockings with both hands, she slowly slid one foot inside. A pull and a tug, and it was incredibly smooth.
It wasn’t as tight as she had expected, likely because her legs were quite thin.
After putting them on, An Ling admired herself for a moment. It was a pity the mirror was inside the shower pod. Her face was slightly flushed; she was clearly feeling shy. She wasn’t a pervert, but wearing them gave her a strange, inexplicable feeling. It was odd.
To distract herself, she quickly began hanging her clothes by the stove. The outfit she had washed yesterday wasn’t dry yet, and now she had washed another set today. She had too many clothes, and the single wooden board was no longer enough to hang them all.
She had wood and nails, so she decided to get to work. An Ling planned to build a drying rack to keep inside the cabin. She used an axe to split several pieces of wood into rods, fixed them with nails, made a base, and then pieced them together.
Just like that, a simple drying rack was finished.
After hanging the clothes, An Ling checked the time. It was past 5:00 PM. Although it was still early for sunset, the overcast sky made it look no different from night. Heavy rain lashed down outside, making it impossible to fish for supplies. She could only huddle inside the small cabin.
An Ling opened the chat module, intending to see if it was raining for other survivors as well. It was also a way to pass the boring time.
“The weather is unpredictable, and fortune is fickle!”
“My tent was clearly reinforced, so why is it still leaking? Dammit!”
“Why did it suddenly start raining so hard?”
“Moron, go ask God!”
“I feel much better now that I see it’s raining for everyone else.”
“I’m a navigator. Based on my observations, this heavy rain will last until at least tomorrow night.”
“Crap, are you serious? Don’t scare me like that, I don’t have enough food.”
“It’s raining! If you collect enough rainwater, you won’t lack fresh water. This is a good thing, hahaha!”
“I’m an idol. I can sing, dance, and rap. Can someone give me something to eat? I’m so hungry…”
“Screw off!”
***
Well, An Ling was speechless. Why was that same idol begging in the channel every single time? Did he not have hands and feet? The chat module only consisted of channel chat and friend chat; there was no world chat. At the very least, she could confirm that the entire channel was currently experiencing heavy rain.
‘Perhaps the regions are divided by channel?’ An Ling guessed.
To chat with friends in other channels, one had to know their ID number. However, with so many people in a single channel, the numbers weren’t arranged in a fixed order—they were random. Finding a survivor from another channel required pure luck.
But An Ling had another method to verify this. Since Qin Xiao wasn’t in her channel, she immediately sent him a private message.
An Ling: “Is it raining where you are?”
Qin Xiao: “Rain? I see. It seems our channels are in different regions, and the weather conditions vary.”
An Ling: “Talking to smart people is refreshing.”
Qin Xiao: “Thanks for the compliment.”
An Ling: “I’m not complimenting you; I’m praising you sincerely.”
Qin Xiao: “To thank you for the food last time, I’ll send you something.”
As he spoke, he initiated a trade. An Ling curiously pulled the item from the light screen. It was a small compass, only slightly larger than a bottle cap!
This was a good item—perhaps even a bit expensive.
An Ling: “Thank you.”
Qin Xiao: “You’re welcome. Allies should help each other.”
‘He’s actually quite a nice person,’ An Ling thought as she tucked the compass into her backpack. At least the next time she entered a Survival Island, she wouldn’t have to constantly track the sun to figure out her direction.
It appeared that Qin Xiao’s development was also very rapid. He had his own methods; he must have been from a wealthy family before this.
Based on his response, she had basically confirmed her theory. If this ocean world was a sphere, then the divided channels were individual regions. It was perfectly normal for the same region to experience the same weather.
After passing more time, the sky outside turned pitch black. An Ling checked the time; it was just 6:00 PM. Normally, the sun wouldn’t even have set yet.
“Right, my fishing net!” she remembered. Now that she had discovered a new use for her ability, she could use it like an umbrella.
Stepping out of the cabin, An Ling felt her way through the dark to the back. Although she couldn’t see what was in the net, she chose to quick-collect.
**[Materials Obtained: Wood * 6, Plastic * 4, Rope * 7, Thatch * 3, Locked Wooden Chest * 1, Leopard Coral Grouper * 1, King Crab * 2]**
The harvest was decent, and the highlight was the king crabs! An Ling almost wanted to steam them immediately for a seafood feast, but then she remembered the leftovers from last night. She should finish those first. She couldn’t afford to waste food.
Returning to the cabin, An Ling realized her understanding of her ability was deepening as she used it more. At her current stage, she couldn’t use her ability for two different things at once. For example, while using it to block the rain, she couldn’t use it for anything else. However, controlling several wooden planks at the same time was no problem.
Once she had settled everything, it was time for the exciting chest-opening segment. An Ling had collected ten wooden chest keys before and hadn’t used a single one yet. Now, she had finally fished up another locked wooden chest.
“If it rains all day tomorrow, relying on the fishing net to gather supplies might be a good choice.” She took a key from her storage and opened the locked wooden chest.
Great, another card! It was a purple building card with a chest pattern on the front.
“Space Storage Box?” An Ling was puzzled. Two storage boxes would be nice, as she could store more supplies.
**[Food Storage Box Building Card: Can store a massive amount of fresh food, granting permanent shelf life. Construction Materials: Wood * 20, Nails * 16, Scrap Iron * 6, Plastic * 2. Points Gained: 3]**
“Isn’t this just a refrigerator? It even has permanent storage!”
After building it, she realized the item was no different from her regular storage box in terms of overall size and slot capacity. The only difference was that while the regular storage box could hold anything, the food storage box could only be used for food.
Now, An Ling didn’t have to worry about her fresh food spoiling at all!
