Goli had raised Genasar for so long that she could tell what he was up to just by the way he wiggled his butt.
If she really taught him, he’d definitely get carried away and summon all sorts of weird things.
Although she could handle the aftermath, the randomness of it all was just exasperating—who knew what he might summon? If she couldn’t beat it herself, wouldn’t that be a real disaster.
“Aiya, I know my limits! I promise I won’t mess around. I’ll only summon something when I’m about to die, alright?”
“Why summon then? Wouldn’t calling me when you’re about to die be better? Go play somewhere else.”
Goli didn’t want to pay any more attention to Genasar. Once it was about time, she pulled Kalu out.
Then she started cleaning the big cauldron, but the persistent Genasar kept pestering her at her side.
“Master~ Come on, just teach me~ You’re going to teach me sooner or later anyway. Wouldn’t it be less trouble to do it now? What if I forget? Then you’ll have to waste your precious time to teach me again. If you just do it now, everything will be settled and you won’t have to worry later, so…”
Genasar’s mouth didn’t stop for a second. Slightly annoyed, Goli grabbed his mouth in one swift motion, shutting him up.
She leaned in, her face full of disdain.
“If I teach you now, I won’t sleep well.”
With that, she ignored Genasar and went about her own business.
Still unwilling to give up, Genasar chased after her.
“Aiya, I already said I know my limits! If I really can’t resist, I’ll just run over to an enemy’s place and use it there. Once I’m done, I’ll run away—what’s the harm?”
Utterly vexed, Goli pressed down on his head.
“Fine, fine, fine. I’ll teach you a spell to summon a low-tier demon. If you want to play, play with that.”
“Uh…”
Genasar was helpless, but though it wasn’t what he wanted, it was better than nothing.
“And learn the spell to dismiss the summoned demon too. If you summon one you don’t like, just send it back.”
“Oh… Hm? Wait, if summoning can be undone, what are you so afraid of?”
A thump landed on his skull.
“Nonsense. If you summon something through the Gate of Miracles and it comes out and squashes you flat, what will you dismiss, your eggs?”
“……”
Defeated, Genasar could only obediently learn the demon summoning spell.
This was a single-target summon, and after casting, it would randomly affect a single demon.
“Sigh…” He was obviously disappointed. Summoning low-tier demons was just for fun—it might not even be fun at all.
A trash loot box with only low-level items; who’d ever want to draw from that?
“By the way, I’ve improved this one for you. You can’t summon succubi. What if a little kid like you gets led astray by a succubus?”
“……”
So after Genasar learned it, he didn’t bother with it anymore. After all, summoning a demon still required an offering.
Only by presenting a suitable offering and pleasing the demon would it respond to the summon—just like fishing.
Offerings were flexible: higher-tier ones could be a pure maiden, lower-tier could be a piece of meat, or even a rock.
But if the offering was too trashy and angered the demon, it might still respond—then come out and kill the summoner.
After Goli used this spell to keep Genasar occupied, she didn’t bother with him anymore and left straight away.
Frustrated, Genasar slumped to one side and dazed out.
At this moment, Kalu, who had been following them all along, blinked her big curious eyes.
“Genasar, can I try this too?”
She’d been learning the summoning array from the side and was now unable to contain her curiosity.
“Oh, go ahead. It’s just a low-tier demon, and you can send it back. Nothing’s going to happen.”
“Alright, wuhu~”
She fetched the required materials, wiggling her butt excitedly as she drew a circle of purple summoning array on the ground.
“All done~ But what should I use as an offering?”
As she was fretting, Genasar scoffed disdainfully.
“For a low-tier demon, what kind of offering do you need? Wait a second.”
He found a sheet of paper and spaced out for a moment.
“Demonic script is… oh, like this.”
He wrote some odd symbols on it, then placed it in the center of the magic array.
After activation, the paper in the center disappeared, followed by waves of strange magical energy emanating out.
A faint but chillingly dark energy began to seep out. It was weak, but clearly, some demon had responded instantly.
Whoosh—
With a flash of purple light, an object appeared at the center of the array, letting out a terrifying roar that struck fear in their hearts.
Genasar and Kalu took a closer look—it was a basketball-sized, round, black, one-eyed demon, looking utterly furious.
But the moment it saw Genasar and Kalu, it shriveled up, froze, and stood there dumbly, watching the two dragons approach.
“Mm… what an ugly thing. Let’s send it back.”
Kalu made a sound of disgust. Genasar didn’t bother saying more; he snatched the paper slip from the one-eyed demon’s hand, activated the dismissal spell, and sent the demon back.
But this successful case only made Kalu more curious.
“What was on that paper? Why was that demon so angry just now?”
“Kids shouldn’t look. Just use it to play.”
“Oh.”
Genasar brushed her off, and Kalu obediently dropped the subject.
He definitely couldn’t let Kalu know what was written on that paper, because it was:
You * the Gobi, I * your ancestors. If you’ve got guts, come chop me. If you don’t, you’re my grandson.
He was afraid she’d learn it and shout it everywhere.
Without caring about the content of the paper, Kalu continued her summoning.
The array glowed again, but suddenly, the formation wavered.
“Hm?”
Clearly, something was off. Genasar curiously leaned in to check.
But immediately, a violent wave rippled out, and the space before them shattered instantly, a crack revealing a starry expanse of another dimension.
“Holy crap! What the hell is that!”
A tremendous force surged out from the otherworldly rift, rampaging through the Crystal Palace.
As they scrambled to resist, a tiny figure darted out of the crack and hid in a corner.
Completely unaware, Genasar shielded Kalu behind him, gritting his teeth and cursing inwardly:
What the hell is going on! We didn’t mess up the process at all!
Thankfully, Goli appeared in time and immediately patched up the space in front of them.
“There was a high-level demon on the other side trying to forcibly tear through and descend here. How can you two be so unlucky?”
Once everything calmed down, Genasar finally let out a breath.
“No idea. We just wanted to have some fun. What exactly happened just now? Some high-level creature decided to fight with low-tier demons for a slot? Is that supposed to be fun?”
A low-tier summoning array only opens a passage for low-tier summons.
If a higher-tier creature forces its way through, imagine trying to shove a watermelon into a chrysanthemum—both the watermelon and the chrysanthemum will explode.
The spatial passage had already blown apart, but what about the watermelon?
“So… could some nasty thing have already made it over here?”
Genasar voiced his concern, and Goli was instantly alarmed.
“Yes, there’s a good chance! But that thing forced its way into a low-tier summoning array, it must be badly wounded. We have to find it before it causes trouble.”
