Opening his eyes, Lucas found himself already lying on a clean bed.
The wounds on his body had been treated, and fresh bandages replaced the old ones.
“Where is this…”
“Lucas?”
Relia’s voice came from beside him.
Turning his head, he saw her sitting at the edge of the bed.
Upon seeing Lucas awake, a smile blossomed on the girl’s face.
Before Lucas could ask about the situation, she had already hurried out of the room to fetch someone.
“It’s incredible. You’ve fully recovered in just a few hours. You can leave tomorrow.”
After examining Lucas’s body, the doctor left the room.
At this moment, the only ones remaining inside were Lucas, Relia, and the female knight who had saved him earlier.
“Are you alright?” the female knight asked with concern.
Looking at the knight before him, Lucas felt a sudden sharp pain in his head.
Upon careful thought, he realized that she existed in his memories.
The earlier conversation with the deity had told him to find someone who appeared in his memories.
That meant this female knight standing before him was the very person he was looking for.
If the information in his memories was correct, this knight’s name was…
“Oh, right. Let me introduce myself first. I am Iveena, Captain of the Kingdom Knight Order,” the knight said, giving a perfect knight’s salute.
“A few hours ago, you were attacked by a demonic wolf. It was I who saved you. Do you remember?”
Lucas rubbed his head.
That was indeed how things had happened.
After that, he lost consciousness, and there was no need to say what happened during that time—he was brought here for treatment.
“That’s impressive. Your wounds were severe enough to cause fatal blood loss, yet you’ve fully recovered within hours,” Iveena exclaimed.
Iveena’s words caused Lucas’s mind to glitch for a moment.
How could this be possible?
Previously, when he broke his leg, it took two months just to heal.
How could the wounds from the demonic wolf have completely healed in a matter of hours?
Lucas recalled the pastry the deity had made him eat, and the so-called Authority.
Could this be the power brought by the portion of Authority bestowed upon the martial artist, as she said?
“Recently, monster activity around this city has been unusually frequent and violent. I came here to investigate this matter. If possible, could you tell me what you all encountered before this?”
“I’ll explain. Lucas just woke up, so it’s better to let him conserve his strength,” Relia said.
She stepped forward and recounted everything from their escape, to the encounter with the demonic wolf, in full detail to Iveena.
“You’re from a border village attacked by the Enemy Nation. You barely escaped and encountered a supply cart to flee, only to be attacked a few hours ago, right?”
Iveena summarized what Relia and she had heard.
Lucas noticed a fierce anger ignite in Iveena’s eyes.
“Damn it. There are already so many problems inside the Kingdom, yet those bastards still take advantage of the situation to invade us.”
Iveena slammed her fist hard against the wall, releasing some of her fury.
“Sorry for the outburst,” Iveena said, regaining her composure.
“Now, I must continue investigating the cause of the monster agitation. You all should rest well here. Your future plans are up to you.”
After saying this, Iveena turned to leave the ward.
Lucas couldn’t let her go.
He rolled off the bed and hurried after her, not even bothering to put on his shoes.
“Hm? You just recovered. It’s better not to exert yourself. Do you have something to say?”
“No… you can’t go to investigate.”
“What are you talking about? I am the Kingdom Knight Order Captain. It’s my duty to protect the safety of the Kingdom’s citizens, and I—”
“You’ll die!”
Lucas cut her off loudly before she could continue.
Iveena froze and turned, raising an eyebrow at him.
“No, you can’t go. You’ll die,” Lucas continued.
In his memories, the information about Iveena was the image of her being pierced through the chest by an enemy blade.
The memory started from the moment Iveena decided to investigate the monster agitation and ended with her death.
The event causing her death was the one happening right now.
He couldn’t let Iveena go. He had to stop her no matter what.
“Why are you saying that? Do you know something?”
Iveena’s eyes narrowed with suspicion.
More than knowing—Lucas even knew the cause and effect of the monster agitation clearly. But should he tell her?
If he revealed that he was blessed by the Creator God Morovira, what would Iveena’s reaction be?
Would she believe him, or would she just draw her sword and cut him down?
“So, you do know something, don’t you?”
Iveena asked as she placed a hand on the hilt of her sword at her waist.
“Honestly, I find you very suspicious. Why would someone who just suffered severe wounds recover so quickly? Why would you say that I’ll die? If you can’t give me a reasonable explanation, don’t blame me for showing no mercy.”
“I can’t explain it to you now, but please believe me—”
Before Lucas could finish, a flash of white light appeared.
Iveena had already drawn her blade, aiming straight for his face.
But Lucas wasn’t injured.
The moment the sword was about to touch his cheek, his body instinctively raised a hand and caught the incoming blade.
In that instant, Lucas saw shock flash across Iveena’s face.
Just as she was about to press her attack—
“Lucas, what’s wrong?”
Perhaps hearing the commotion in the corridor, Relia stepped out.
Lucas raised his hand to shield Iveena, signaling her not to come closer.
Seeing Relia, Iveena stopped her attack and silently sheathed her sword.
Relia had come out, and not wanting her to witness something unpleasant was one thing.
Another was that this was a hospital corridor—brandishing a sword here was certainly inappropriate.
“You’re full of surprises, aren’t you? You managed to catch my blade, yet you couldn’t defeat a few demonic wolves a few hours ago?”
That was true.
A few hours ago, he really couldn’t have defeated the wolves.
But that didn’t mean he couldn’t now.
“You should be glad this is a sanatorium. Otherwise, I would’ve forced you to tell the truth by force,” Iveena said, though her hand still clung to her sword at her waist.
“Do you not believe me?”
“What do you think?”
“If I tell you the truth, will you believe me?”
“That depends if you’re really telling the truth.”
Relia looked at both of them, utterly confused and unable to understand their conversation.
“Alright, I’ll tell you the truth. But if possible, let’s return to the ward first.”
“I can agree to your terms, but in return, you must promise me one thing—you must form a Contract Oath with me.”
