Saturday morning, as soon as dawn broke, Su Nuannuan climbed out of bed.
Just the thought of today’s camping trip wiped away all her sleepiness.
After dressing quickly, she started packing her things.
Her outfit was simple but full of energy—a yellow sweatshirt on top, paired with jeans and canvas shoes.
She neatly folded a few cute clothes and stuffed them into her backpack, then crouched down in front of the Snacks, looking troubled.
“Hm… these chips are tasty… and these jellies too…” she murmured softly, and before long, her backpack was packed to the brim.
Looking at the overflowing bag, she pouted, “But if it’s this full, there’s no room for anything else…”
Today, Lin Wei wore a black windbreaker, a white short-sleeved shirt underneath, and paired cargo pants with black boots, giving her a sharp and capable look.
Lin Wei was far more professional in packing than Su Nuannuan.
Most of what she brought were tools—Damp-proof Mat, Flashlight, Insect Repellent Spray, and so on.
Once Lin Wei finished packing, she headed to Su Nuannuan’s room.
At the door, Lin Wei saw Su Nuannuan squatting in front of the Snacks with a troubled expression and chuckled softly.
That girl really did look good in anything she wore.
Then Lin Wei quietly approached from behind and crouched down beside Su Nuannuan, whispering into her ear, “Are you done packing?”
Su Nuannuan startled, her body trembling slightly.
“J-Just about, sis…” she hurriedly zipped up her backpack.
Lin Wei stood up and said, “Once you’re ready, come out. I’ll be waiting in the living room.”
Su Nuannuan nodded timidly. “O-Okay.”
Watching Lin Wei’s retreating figure, Su Nuannuan patted her chest and let out a long breath.
“Whew… you really scared me first thing in the morning.”
She counted the items she needed once more, then suddenly jumped up as if she’d just remembered something.
“Right, the Camping Tent!”
She dragged out the tent bag from under the bed and proudly patted it.
“Almost forgot that.”
After Lin Wei neatly packed all the professional gear into the Su Family Car’s trunk, she saw Su Nuannuan slowly ambling over with her bulging snack bag.
Lin Wei shook her head helplessly and took the bag, placing it inside the car.
Was she planning to move the entire supermarket here?
Once everything was ready, the two got into the car and set off, leaving Su Nuannuan’s Camping Tent bag lonely on the bed.
After driving for a while, Su Nuannuan received a message from Zhou Qianqian: “Nuannuan, why haven’t you picked me up yet?”
Followed by a pouty emoji.
Su Nuannuan quickly replied, “I’m almost there!”
When she picked up Zhou Qianqian, Su Nuannuan noticed she only carried a tiny, scrunched-up bag and looked at her suspiciously.
“Qianqian, did you bring enough stuff?”
Qianqian’s eyes flickered guiltily, then she puffed out her chest.
“Of course, I did!”
She hastily shoved the bag into the car.
Lin Wei glanced over and snorted but said nothing.
After picking up Wu Duola, the four of them finally headed toward Moon Lake Campground.
As the car left the city, the tall buildings gradually receded, replaced by lush greenery outside the window.
Zhou Qianqian excitedly rolled down the window, and the fresh breeze instantly filled the car.
“Wow, the air is so fresh!” Qianqian leaned out and shouted.
Su Nuannuan quickly warned, “Qianqian… that’s dangerous.”
But Qianqian just grinned with her mouth wide open, ignoring the warning entirely.
Moon Lake Campground was located in the suburbs of S City and was developed only in recent years, so not many people knew about it yet.
When the four arrived at the campground entrance, a few scattered groups of hikers were visible, but the Su Family Car drove straight into the camping area since they had so much gear.
Once there, the four unloaded their big and small bags from the car.
Zhou Qianqian looked at the scenery ahead and exclaimed, “Wow, it’s so beautiful!”
Then she excitedly ran to the lake’s edge, shouting nonstop, before turning around and waving enthusiastically at Su Nuannuan and Wu Duola.
Su Nuannuan glanced around shyly, hoping Qianqian wasn’t scaring anyone off.
She instinctively linked arms with Wu Duola and walked toward the lake.
Wu Duola lowered his head and chuckled softly.
After Lin Wei finished instructing the driver, the Su Family Car left, and she turned to see the three excited friends by the lake, shaking her head.
She then noticed Su Nuannuan linking arms with Wu Duola and frowned.
How could she casually link arms with someone else?
Lin Wei withdrew her gaze and slowly began organizing the piled-up bags.
Once she spread out the Picnic Mat and neatly arranged the various equipment, the trio was already causing a ruckus by the lakeside.
“Come on over and eat,” Lin Wei called out to them.
Zhou Qianqian was the first to run back.
Seeing the mat full of Snacks, she gasped, “You brought snacks!”
Su Nuannuan blushed standing beside her… actually, she was the one who had brought almost all of the Snacks.
The four sat around the mat with Snacks piled in front of them.
Lin Wei took out the Cassette Stove and started grilling some food, the shimmering lake behind them and rolling hills in the distance.
“Not bad, Lin Wei. You really found a great spot,” Zhou Qianqian said, munching on chips.
Wu Duola nodded, “Yeah… this place is beautiful.”
Lin Wei glanced over at Su Nuannuan, who was puffing her cheeks with food like a little hamster, and a slight smile appeared on her face.
Zhou Qianqian added, “We have to come out here more often!”
Su Nuannuan nodded enthusiastically.
It would be great if they could come every day.
Lin Wei said, “As long as it’s safe, you can have fun however you want.”
She handed a skewer of grilled sausages to Su Nuannuan, who blinked in surprise before carefully taking it.
Huh? Lin Wei was actively offering her food…
“Thank you, sis…” Su Nuannuan accepted it, blowing gently on the food.
“Ah! Lin Wei, you’re so unfair!” Zhou Qianqian stomped her foot. “I want some too!”
Lin Wei rolled her eyes but handed her a skewer anyway.
“You foodie.”
Then she passed another skewer of grilled mushrooms to Su Nuannuan, who timidly accepted it again.
Zhou Qianqian winked, watching the scene.
“By the way, Lin Wei, since when did you and your sister get so close?”
Su Nuannuan nearly choked on her mushroom and nervously looked at Lin Wei.
Qianqian… are you trying to get me killed?
Wu Duola blinked curiously, “Weren’t they always close?”
In his eyes, Lin Wei was very doting toward Su Nuannuan.
Su Nuannuan awkwardly replied, “Y-Yeah, sis has always been nice to me…” and then shrank back.
“Who said that?” Zhou Qianqian curled her lips. “When Lin Wei first transferred schools, she was really mean to Nuannuan, always with a cold face.”
Lin Wei hesitated and lowered her head, fiddling with the grill.
“R-Really?”
Su Nuannuan wished she could dig a hole and bury herself.
Luckily, a passing bird soon caught Zhou Qianqian’s attention, and the topic was dropped.
Su Nuannuan let out a long breath and secretly glanced at Lin Wei, hoping she wouldn’t take Qianqian’s words to heart.
After they finished eating, Lin Wei brought out a Lawn Chair and sat by the lake reading.
The other three ran over to the rocky shore, searching for Crab.
“Nuannuan, don’t worry!” Zhou Qianqian confidently patted her chest.
“Today, I’m definitely going to catch a big Crab for you!”
At the words “big Crab,” Su Nuannuan’s eyes lit up immediately.
Wu Duola spoke up too, “Then I’ll catch a Spirit for you!”
Su Nuannuan’s eyes brightened even more.
Wow! A Spirit.
Lin Wei looked up from her book, her gaze drifting past the pages toward the three, finally resting on the small figure crouched by the lake.
Su Nuannuan was carefully flipping over a stone, pouting disappointedly when she found nothing.
Zhou Qianqian covered her belly and laughed heartily.
Su Nuannuan frowned at Qianqian’s teasing.
Su Nuannuan’s lively and adorable demeanor held Lin Wei’s attention.
She thought back to Zhou Qianqian’s question…
When exactly did their closeness begin?
