“Hmph hmph hmph~ hmph hmph hmph~ … how should I bully Su Mengdie later?”
A cheerful tune echoed through the quiet locker room as Penelope changed into her uniform while imagining how she would mess with Su Mengdie.
Bzz bzz bzz~
Penelope was fixing her bow tie the way Su Mengdie had taught her when her phone suddenly buzzed a few times in her pocket.
“What the heck? Don’t they know I’m busy right now?”
She pulled out her phone and glanced at it casually—her expression instantly darkened.
On the lock screen, the sender was Caroline.
One look and she knew: work.
Jin: What? I’m busy!
Car: Boss wants you to lure out Fengdie. She’s sending Violet to help you. Also, I detected a reaction from an unfamiliar magical girl near you. Go beat up that rookie and draw her out.
Jin: I really have things to do. Can’t this wait?
Penelope clicked her tongue irritably at the message.
Today was her first day training with Su Mengdie, and they hadn’t even started when she was already being sent on a mission?
Even if it was a direct order from the boss, she was a thousand times unwilling.
Car: Offline.
She only delivered messages.
The boss’ instructions had been passed on, so there was no need to argue.
Whether Penelope liked it or not had nothing to do with Caroline.
“Hmph… I’ll deal with you one day.”
Penelope snorted unhappily and clasped her hands in front of her chest.
“God of the Void, grant me strength!”
Golden light gathered between her palms and burst out through the gaps between her fingers, wrapping her entire body.
Her black hair was dyed gold by the magic, cascading over her shoulders.
Her brown uniform transformed in an instant into a white-and-gold feathered outfit that hugged her graceful figure.
When the light faded, Penelope swung her arms and expanded her scouting domain for magical girls.
Suddenly, her expression grew tense as she muttered to herself.
“That’s weird. The magical girl reaction… is right upstairs!?”
Penelope lifted her head toward the ceiling and tapped lightly on the floor, teleporting straight to the second floor.
After checking every room one by one, she stopped before Su Mengdie’s locked room.
“No doubt about it, it’s here… but why is a magical girl in this place?”
Could it be the manager is a magical girl?
Penelope turned her head toward the stairs, full of suspicion, then shook her head and laughed.
“Hmph~ I’m overthinking it. If the manager really were a magical girl, there’s no way she’d transform at a time like this.”
The manager was waiting to train her.
“Better hurry too. It’ll be troublesome if the manager suddenly disappears and gets noticed.”
To avoid alerting the store manager downstairs, Penelope laid soundproofing and disguise wards along the hallway, then teleported into the room—
bong—!
Almost at the exact moment she appeared, a blazing fireball explosion grazed Penelope’s cheek.
She didn’t even have time to see who shot it before the blast’s smoke swallowed her vision.
What the—!?
Did she detect me?
Even if the other side sensed her ahead of time, the timing was ridiculously precise…
Forcing herself to take the hit, Penelope raised a golden shield and dispersed the smoke.
“Gold Canary… so it is you!”
Wearing a black strapless gown and a black lace hat, the girl gripped a purple-glowing sword, glaring at Penelope through gritted teeth.
She looked more like a wicked witch than a magical girl.
The girl was furious—but Penelope had no idea why she hated her so much.
Penelope didn’t recognize her at all, nor did she plan to.
She only wanted to lure out Fengdie quickly, then go cuddle Su Mengdie~
Once she confirmed the target, Penelope began an overwhelming barrage of attacks, giving the girl no room to respond.
“Damn it!”
In the narrow room, she had nowhere to dodge.
Even swinging her sword and defending with everything she had, the gap between them was too large.
Very soon she collapsed under Penelope’s never-ending magic bullets.
Barely conscious, she leaned on her sword, attempting to stand—but Penelope didn’t intend to give her the chance.
She drove a fist charged with immense magic into the girl’s stomach.
The force blasted through her body and carved a deep mark into the wall.
“Haaah~! This body… is so damn fragile…”
The girl fell, pale and trembling, tears streaming from her eyes from the pain and humiliation of losing to the Gold Canary.
Penelope kicked her over onto her back and stomped on her stomach, growling a threat.
“Hey! You know Fengdie, right? Tell me wh—”
Halfway through the threat, Penelope suddenly stopped.
She looked up at a white shirt that had fallen to the floor during the earlier blast.
This shirt became slightly translucent when wet, so Su Mengdie had taken it off beforehand to avoid exposing herself after de-transforming.
Penelope recognized it instantly—
Su Mengdie!?
“Hey~ what did you do to the girl in this room? And why are you here?”
“…kill me if you want. I won’t say anything.”
The girl closed her eyes, unwilling to speak.
“Kill you? That’s too easy. Until you tell me where that girl is, I’ll keep torturing you until you beg for death!”
A vicious light flashed in Penelope’s eyes.
She suddenly tore open the girl’s dress, exposing her pale skin.
The cold air made a blush spread across the girl’s face.
“W-what are you doing!?”
She instinctively closed her legs and covered herself with her hands.
Penelope didn’t let her shield herself.
She yanked the girl’s arms over her head and pinned her down.
The tattered clothing and broken underwear were ripped away, leaving her fully exposed.
“So? Ready to talk?”
“You… keep dreaming!”
“Heh~ good. I hope that other mouth of yours stays as hard later!”
Penelope let out a chilling laugh—but then her expression shifted.
Someone had broken through her ward.
Not Fengdie, but a presence even stronger.
“Looks like my time’s up…”
Seeing she had no chance of winning, Penelope prepared to retreat.
As for Su Mengdie… even if those annoying magical girls took her, they wouldn’t hurt her.
Probably.
“But like I said—I’m not letting you off easy!”
Right before teleporting away, Penelope burned a golden sigil—her mark—onto the girl’s stomach.
