“Oh-ho~ Ashe, give it a spin and try it out.”
Genasar urged Ashe with curiosity, while she controlled the ice umbrella to turn like a fan, directing the breeze at Genasar.
A cool wind blew over Genasar, and at the same time, a primal instinct seemed to be roused within him.
He didn’t restrain that instinct; opening his mouth, his tongue lolled out, fluttering in the wind.
“Ah wah wah wah wah—”
His voice vibrated and trembled as it faced the wind.
And right across from him, Ashe’s face seemed to be… layered with an expression of speechlessness.
But before she could say anything, Kalu came running over as well.
“That looks really fun!”
Then, imitating Genasar, she opened her mouth and stuck out her tongue.
The speechless Ashe was, indeed, still speechless, and simply stopped turning the fan.
“You two really are enough.”
But it wasn’t Ashe who said this, it was Goli, who walked up and pressed both their heads, closing their mouths for them.
“My creation isn’t meant to be played with like this by you two, alright, I’m leaving, out of sight, out of mind.”
Seeing her freshly completed invention being used this way, Goli turned away helplessly and left.
The three of them were left watching as Goli walked away.
Just as she had left, Genasar, struck by a sudden idea, turned to Ashe.
“This wind’s pretty strong. Let me see if I can enhance my fire element, give it a try.”
“You mean to…”
Ashe seemed to guess what he wanted to do, so she started up the fan again.
A breath of Dragonfire surged from Genasar’s mouth, aimed straight at the fan.
As expected, the moment the fire met the wind, it burst forth.
The flame roared savagely, expanding instantly before dissipating into the air.
And the ice on the nearby walls and ceiling, too, melted away quite a bit under that single moment of Dragonbreath.
After the initial surprise, Genasar’s expression quickly turned smug.
“Hmph~ This is our Bonded Combo Technique! Wahahaha~”
Wind fuels fire; perhaps this effect could, at times, help Genasar unleash unexpected power.
“Come, let’s keep practicing, we can’t let others look down on the bond between us!”
Ashe: ̄△ ̄
And so, Genasar and Ashe practiced combining wind and fire.
But at the same time, he was wondering, could ice element produce any kind of chemical reaction with fire element?
When he shared this idea with Ashe, she hesitated a little.
“Er… I don’t think it’s possible.”
“I actually think it could work.”
“I really don’t think much of it.”
“Let’s try it, just once, okay?”
And so…
This, is the Immortal Dragonbreath with undying attributes.
This, is the White Dragon Breath of a future White Dragon Sage.
When these two mighty powers combine, they become, they become a powerful—
Wa—ter—Va—por—
A huge cloud of white mist dispersed, leaving behind the speechless Genasar and Ashe frozen on the spot.
“Seems like it really doesn’t work.”
“……”(ᗜ△ᗜ)
After a moment of dumbfounded silence, Ashe explained to the slightly dejected Genasar:
“Your Dragonbreath is stronger than mine. The instant the ice element touches the fire, it melts and then vaporizes, so it turns out like this.”
“Alright… sigh…”
Off to the side, Kalu, who’d been quietly watching their experiment, suddenly hopped forward cheerfully.
“Genasar, I’ve got a question!”
“What is it?”
“So your fire is supposed to be immortal, right? Then how come it went out the moment it touched Ashe’s ice?”
“Huh? Wait, what?”
Genasar suddenly realized the contradiction—Ashe’s breath could extinguish his Immortal Dragonbreath?
True, his fire did melt the ice and vaporize it, but the fire itself was also completely gone.
“What’s going on? Could it be…”
“It’s probably because I’m mutated, too. My Dragonbreath has some special qualities as well, but you don’t have to think too much about it.”
Ashe made a guess; for now, it was the only explanation.
‘Immortal’ only means difficult to extinguish; it just shows that Ashe’s ice element is not to be underestimated.
“Ahem, let’s leave it at that. By the way, little sis, how does it feel to have that halo over your head?”
“Hmm? Hmm… It’s kind of like wearing a hat, and it feels warm and comfy.”
The halo on Kalu’s head honestly made Genasar uneasy.
Wasn’t that supposed to mean ‘kicked the bucket’? Yet, for them—and for that group as well—they all saw it as a symbol of holiness.
“Can’t understand their thinking at all… Oh right, little sis, how about we try training a Combo Technique or something?”
Genasar, now interested, wasn’t about to stop playing just yet.
“Sure, sure!”
She agreed readily, and the result…
Was a complete failure. The two fireballs produced no real chemical reaction; there was hardly any difference whether they combined or not.
Genasar gradually lost interest and calmed down.
On second thought, the so-called Combo Technique with Ashe seemed… not all that useful, either.
The wind would scatter the pure element, making it look a lot flashier.
But the power was greatly reduced; it’d be fine as a fireworks show, but in real combat, a simple Dragonbreath would be much more effective.
“Our Bonded Combo Technique, sigh…”
Disappointed, truly disappointed, Genasar hung his head and sighed.
Behind him, Ashe and Kalu stared at him in a daze, exchanging glances.
After a moment’s thought, they walked up slowly to comfort him.
“A single skill doesn’t mean everything, right? Isn’t the bond between us unbreakable?”
“Mm? Well, yes, but if we had a Combo Technique, wouldn’t that make it even more… Never mind, talking about it just makes me more upset.”
Genasar was still tangled up in these thoughts.
At that moment, Kalu pressed in with her big, adorable eyes.
“Hmm? So if we don’t have a Combo Technique, you don’t like us anymore, Genasar?”
She questioned him, step by step, drawing closer, making Genasar all shy.
“Uh… I like you, of course I do, but…”
“Then that’s settled! Don’t underestimate the bond between us, Genasar!”ヽ(>∀<)ノ
She pounced on Genasar, shouting at the top of her lungs.
“Alright, alright, I get it, I get it, now get down first.”
Kalu calmed down, and Ashe gave him another heartfelt piece of advice:
“A Combo Technique is something you can develop over time. But because of our races, there aren’t many ways to cooperate. Still, who knows, maybe there’ll be a chance in the future?”
“Yeah, I get it. No need to dwell on it. What’s for dinner? I’ll cook.”
Once he pulled himself together, Genasar didn’t bother with all those random thoughts anymore.
Ashe and Kalu stood in front of him, smiling as they gave their orders.
“One of each: strawberry and dragon fruit flavor.”
“So it’s ice cream again… Then, little sis…”
“Meat~”
Well, she’s still the simple one…
