After receiving Yize’s advice, Emma locked herself in the small room of the tavern, devoting herself to research on Potion-making.
The next morning, Yize called the Waiter over.
“I remember you said you get along pretty well at the Quiet Moon Wharf, and you’ve got some connections with various factions there, right?”
“Just a little, not much, not much…”
The Waiter really was a bit afraid of Yize by now, and no longer had those outrageous fantasies from before. He looked much more normal now.
Yize nodded. “Can you get hold of a Quiet Moon Chamber of Commerce employee’s uniform?”
The Waiter was startled by Yize’s words. “Sir, if you get caught impersonating a Quiet Moon Chamber of Commerce employee, you’ll at least have your hands and feet broken!”
Yize chuckled. “I’m not asking you to impersonate anyone. Tell me, which is lighter: getting your hands broken, or your life?”
The Waiter didn’t dare say more, lowering his head and muttering, “It was foolish of me to speak out of turn. Sir, I’ll go get the uniform for you right away.”
Yize thought for a moment and added, “And find me five clever low-tier Adventurers to follow my instructions. Three gold coins per person, per day.”
After speaking, he saw the Waiter looking frightened, wanting to speak but holding back.
“You have something else to say?”
“Sir, about today’s Antidote…”
Oh, right, Yize almost forgot about that.
Of course, what he had given the Waiter wasn’t poison at all, so there was no real Antidote.
Yize poured a glass of Walnut Milk from the table. “This is my specially-made Antidote. Drink it.”
The Waiter took the cup, stared at the white liquid inside, and seemed to be lost in thought. His face actually turned red.
“Why the hell are you blushing like a banana peel?” Yize kicked him, speechless.
The Waiter was so scared he gulped down the Antidote right away, then smacked his lips.
This Antidote tastes pretty good…
After the door to the guest room was fully closed, Luke—who had been silently eating breakfast next to Yize—finally looked up.
With an “I get it now” expression, he said, “Senior Yize, is Senior Emma going to disguise herself as a Quiet Moon Chamber of Commerce employee to sell Potions?”
“You should drink more Walnut Milk.”
“Hundreds or even thousands of bottles of Magic Recovery Potion—do you really think you could sell them all just by pretending to be a Quiet Moon Chamber of Commerce staff?”
Luke’s mind was simple, and the idea that just occurred to him seemed to be the best solution for him. “Then Senior Yize, why do you need a Quiet Moon Chamber of Commerce uniform?”
Yize wanted to use some modern marketing tricks from his past life, but explaining to Luke would be pointless. “You’ll find out later.”
On the other side, after a day of focused research, Emma finally succeeded in developing a Potion that could temporarily boost elemental affinity.
Yize began to worry about another issue. “Senior Emma, can you really make hundreds or even thousands of Potions?”
Emma grinned as she took out her Potion Equipment from her Magic Storage Ring. “Don’t worry, I have my own special equipment—the efficiency is top-notch.”
Yize gave a thumbs-up, not expecting Emma to have brought all this along.
But at this moment, it could be called a fortunate accident.
Soon, the Waiter delivered the Quiet Moon Chamber of Commerce uniform.
“Senior Yize, who’s supposed to wear this uniform?” Luke couldn’t help asking curiously.
“Of course you are!” Yize replied with a smile.
He pulled out a slip of paper he had prepared in advance. “Tomorrow, follow the instructions on this note.”
Luke took the note and, after reading it, a sly grin crept onto his face.
“What do you think?” Yize asked with a smile.
“Absolutely devious!” Luke praised.
“It’s just… is it really okay for us to do this? If we get caught, won’t it give the academy a bad reputation?”
“Relax. We’re only selling for one day, and who would know we’re students from Xingyao Academy?”
Luke found Yize’s words convincing. “Senior Yize, don’t worry. Leave this matter to me.”
A while later, the Waiter returned, bringing the five low-tier Adventurers Yize had requested.
Yize handed each of them a slip of paper. “Everything you need to do is written here. The payment is three gold coins each. If you’re not satisfied, you can leave now.”
Three gold coins was already a lot. Normally, they would have to take twenty or thirty first-tier Adventurer missions to earn that much.
Time quickly passed to the next morning. Emma, sporting dark circles under her eyes, finally finished making eight hundred bottles of Potion.
“You two juniors, you don’t have to bother helping me sell Potions today.”
“You’ve already helped a lot; asking for more would make me feel bad.”
“Alright, Senior!” Yize quickly nodded, really showing no intention of joining her. “Then, I wish Senior a smooth day and hope you earn all the gold coins you need. I’ll be waiting for your good news.”
“Senior, you got this! I believe in you!” Luke encouraged her with a big smile, also showing no intention of going.
Emma: “…….”
Weren’t we supposed to sell Potions together? How did a polite refusal actually send them both away for real?
Seeing Emma hesitate, Luke asked kindly, “Senior, is there something else?”
“Uh… no.”
Yize urged, “It’s getting late. Senior, you’d better set off early.”
Emma: “……” Why does she feel so stifled all of a sudden…
“Wait!” Yize suddenly called out.
Emma’s eyes lit up. “Junior, do you want to come with me? I knew it…”
Before she could finish her sentence, Yize handed her a glass of Walnut Milk. “Senior, this is good for you. Drink it before you go.”
He nearly forgot—the Potion reducing her presence was still in effect on Emma.
He had just added the Antidote that restored presence into this Walnut Milk.
Looking at the Walnut Milk Yize handed over, Emma suddenly didn’t like it very much, but still drank it down.
After Emma left, Yize told Luke to change into the Quiet Moon Chamber of Commerce uniform.
“Let’s go. We’ve got work to do.”
Luke didn’t hesitate, taking off his outerwear right in front of Yize and quickly putting on the uniform.
He asked with a hint of worry, “Senior, my identity won’t be exposed, will it?”
Yize reassured him, “Don’t worry. You’re not a celebrity or anything. There are plenty of low-level employees in the Quiet Moon Chamber of Commerce; no one remembers them all.”
“When the time comes, I’ll be there to help. Just do what’s written on the note and you’ll be fine.”
Once they were dressed, the two of them made their way to the Quiet Moon commercial street.
With Emma’s lowered presence effect gone, they quickly spotted her.
It was much the same as before: the goods laid out on the ground with a sheet underneath.
But this time, there was an extra sign: “A Potion that increases magic power—only available here in the entire Empire. One gold coin per bottle, fair to all.”
Perhaps the price was too high, or maybe it was the “increases magic power” claim, but a good number of passersby gathered around.
However, nobody bought anything; they were just there for the spectacle.
Emma seemed to want to promote her Potion, but being proud as always, she lacked the gift of gab, and her strong self-esteem wouldn’t allow her to shamelessly shout to attract business. So after setting up shop for half a day, she still hadn’t sold a single bottle.
Seeing the crowd grow, Yize patted Luke on the shoulder. “Go on, it’s your time to shine.”
Emma’s heart sank. She had been so confident in her Potion, but after such a long time without a single sale…
It’s over, it’s over. Looks like she’ll really have to go mining to pay her debts.
As she spiraled into worry, Emma suddenly sensed someone approaching. Before she could even look up, her sign was kicked flying.
The commotion quickly drew a fresh crowd of onlookers.
Emma was stunned for a moment, then furious. She was just about to teach this reckless person a lesson, but the moment she looked up and recognized his face, she was dumbfounded.
She saw Luke, hair slicked back, dressed in a Quiet Moon Chamber of Commerce uniform, arrogantly picking his nose and staring her down. “What the hell are you, daring to run scams on the Quiet Moon Chamber of Commerce’s turf? Don’t you know all our Potions come from Lemon Academy! Even this low-grade Magic Recovery Potion from Lemon Academy only sells for ten silver coins. You dare charge a whole gold coin?”
Lemon Academy, one of the four great magic academies—the dean is the Empire’s most renowned Potion master.
Emma: “……”
