The Su Family Villa was quiet at this hour, long past the time the servants had left. Only a few lamps emitted faint glimmers of light.
Lin Wei carried Su Nuannuan into the living room and gave Zhou Qianqian, who followed closely behind, a subtle nod toward the light switch on the wall.
Zhou Qianqian responded with an “Oh,” quickly moving over and flipping the switch with a soft “click,” banishing the darkness with light.
Lin Wei held Su Nuannuan gently and headed toward Su Nuannuan’s bedroom.
Zhou Qianqian trailed behind, curiously glancing around.
After some effort, Lin Wei used her elbow to nudge open Su Nuannuan’s bedroom door and stepped inside, carefully placing Su Nuannuan on the soft, large bed.
Su Nuannuan let out a low hum, nuzzled the pillow, and soon sank back into a deep sleep.
Zhou Qianqian slipped in after her, eyes scanning the room filled with girlish charm. Wow, Nuannuan’s room was just as cute as she was!
Lin Wei pulled the blanket over Su Nuannuan and looked up, catching Zhou Qianqian naturally edging toward the bed. Lin Wei’s brows furrowed—what was this girl up to?
Noticing Lin Wei’s gaze, Zhou Qianqian turned around and said casually, “Sister Lin Wei, you should go rest. I’ll take care of Nuannuan tonight!” She then reached to lift the blanket, preparing to climb into bed.
Lin Wei: “…” You’re planning to share the bed, aren’t you?!
Unable to hold back any longer, Lin Wei grabbed Zhou Qianqian’s arm and pulled her toward the door without a word.
“Hey hey hey? Lin Wei, what are you doing?” Zhou Qianqian stumbled as she was yanked along.
Lin Wei said nothing, firmly dragging her out of the bedroom and shutting the door behind them.
Standing outside the door, Zhou Qianqian muttered unhappily, “Lin Wei, what’s your problem? I want to take care of Nuannuan!”
Lin Wei stared at her expressionlessly. “You sleep in the Guest Room.”
“I don’t want to!” Zhou Qianqian shook her head. “I want to sleep with Nuannuan!”
“No.” Lin Wei refused sharply, then grabbed Zhou Qianqian’s wrist again and pulled her toward the Guest Room. Having familiarized herself with the estate layout earlier, she knew exactly where each room was.
“Hey! Lin Wei! Let go of me! I’m going to tell Nuannuan you’re bullying me!” Zhou Qianqian struggled in vain as she was dragged to the Guest Room door.
Lin Wei pushed the door open and shoved Zhou Qianqian inside. “You’ll sleep here.”
Zhou Qianqian pouted, putting on a pitiful look with blinking eyes. “Sleeping alone… I’m scared. I… I’m afraid of the dark.”
Lin Wei gave her a sharp glare.
Zhou Qianqian shrank her neck under the stare.
Lin Wei showed no mercy. “Then leave the light on.” She said this as she closed the door from the outside.
Zhou Qianqian stamped her foot against the closed door, huffing, “Hmph! That stinky Lin Wei just wants Nuannuan all to herself!”
She turned around and flopped onto the soft, large bed in the Guest Room, clutching the blanket and rolling around, whining her discontent.
After dealing with Zhou Qianqian, Lin Wei returned to Su Nuannuan’s bedroom door.
She hesitated for a moment outside before gently pushing the door open and stepping inside.
Walking to the bedside, she leaned over to carefully check on Su Nuannuan.
The little one was in a deep sleep, her face flushed red, breathing heavy. Sweat dampened her hair, clinging to her forehead.
Lin Wei reached out and touched her forehead—it was definitely hotter than before.
She turned and walked into the attached Bathroom, soaked a clean towel in hot water, wrung it out until damp, then brought it back to gently press against Su Nuannuan’s forehead.
Then she crouched down and carefully helped Su Nuannuan remove her shoes and socks, revealing her small, fair feet. Afterward, she tidied the blanket over her again.
Having finished these tasks, Lin Wei couldn’t help but yawn, the heavy drowsiness washing over her. She intended to leave and rest in her own room, but her feet suddenly felt rooted to the spot, uncooperative.
She turned her head and quietly gazed at the sleeping Su Nuannuan, who looked especially peaceful and obedient in her dreams. Her long lashes fluttered slightly, her body rising and falling with each breath.
Biting her lower lip, Lin Wei wrestled with her emotions. In the end, she slowly lowered herself to squat beside Su Nuannuan’s bed.
From this closer angle, Lin Wei’s heartbeat began to quicken uncontrollably, her face flushing. She felt like a thief caught in the act.
She reached out and carefully took Su Nuannuan’s little hand, which lay outside the blanket, softly stroking the tender, delicate skin.
Her other hand propped up her chin as she watched quietly, as if she could never get enough.
As she looked, her empty hand unconsciously reached out, gently tucking aside the damp hair on Su Nuannuan’s forehead, fingertips brushing over the smooth skin.
Then it moved down slowly, lightly touching Su Nuannuan’s flushed cheek.
Lin Wei felt the heat on her own face surge higher, her heartbeat pounding like it might burst out of her chest.
Her gaze slipped uncontrollably to Su Nuannuan’s slightly parted, rosy lips…
She swallowed instinctively, breath growing rapid.
Inside, a fierce battle raged between desire and reason. In the end, the overwhelming urge won out. She hypnotized herself: It’s fine, she’s asleep, she doesn’t know anything. I’ll just touch once, just once…
Her fingers trembled slightly as they inched toward those inviting little lips…
Finally, her fingertips brushed that softness…
Yet the moment she made contact, it was like an electric shock jolted her. She immediately withdrew her hand, springing back as if burned!
Terrified, she stared at the sleeping Su Nuannuan, cold sweat breaking out across her forehead.
What was she just doing? That was… her sister in name! How could she have such strange thoughts?!
Panic surged through Lin Wei’s heart as she fled in disarray, hastily leaving Su Nuannuan’s room and softly closing the door behind her.
She raced back to her own room and headed straight to the washbasin, turning on the tap and splashing cold water over her face repeatedly, trying to quench the heat burning her skin.
Looking up at her reflection in the mirror, cheeks still flushed, hair dripping wet, she whispered harshly at herself, “Lin Wei, get a grip—that’s your sister!”
At that moment, the reflection’s lips curled into a sly smile, voice tinged with temptation: “Relax, you’re not even related by blood.”
Lin Wei’s eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at the mirror. “Are you joking?!”
Had staying up late finally caused hallucinations?
The figure in the mirror’s eyes darkened mysteriously: “I’m not joking.”
Lin Wei shook her head violently, trying to dispel the absurd thought. “Besides… we’re both girls!”
The reflection wore a dubious expression. “So what? Don’t you think she’s really cute?”
Lin Wei lowered her gaze, the image of Su Nuannuan flooding her mind uncontrollably. Inside, she nodded desperately—Cute! Of course she’s cute!
But she immediately forced herself to shake her head and refute aloud, “This… this is just the love of a sister. It’s family affection!”
The Lin Wei in the mirror gave a mischievous grin. “Really? Just a sister? Then why are you blushing?”
“I…” Lin Wei was left speechless, embarrassed and angry. She scooped up a handful of cold water and splashed it hard at the mirror. The surface blurred with water droplets. “Cut it out!”
Lin Wei exhaled long and deep, utterly exhausted. She returned to her bed and flopped down heavily, pulling the blanket over her head.
“I’m just her sister!” she grumbled fiercely.
