Looking at the Candy before her, Elika didn’t think much of it at first—who are you trying to fool with that?
But at that moment, something strange happened—Elika felt her body heating up, from her mouth all the way to her toes, as if every part of her was yearning for that Candy, like a Camel in the Desert thirsting for rain.
“What? How could this be…” Elika’s petite face flushed a rosy red, her long ears twitching slightly.
“Hmph, looks like you do want to eat it after all, huh? I knew it. I heard you’re a half-elf, aren’t you? The fairy bloodline makes you crave sweets, right?”
“How… how did you know that?”
The fact that she was a half-elf should only have been known to Evelyn and herself at the time. Elika couldn’t help but be curious how Emile had found out.
“Don’t underestimate the Lioness Family. I know a little about whatever you and Evelyn are up to.”
“I clearly cleaned out all the other Family’s Spies. Looks like there’s still some who slipped through the cracks.”
“But a half-elf, huh? Seems I really did buy a rare species back then—my judgment really is unmatched.”
Emile pretended to hand the Candy to Elika, but halfway there, she suddenly stuffed it into her own mouth. “Come on, if you want to eat it, you’ll have to snatch it.”
The golden-haired girl’s bright eyes and white teeth, with that crystal-clear golden Candy in her mouth, made her look just like a noble dragon clutching gold in its jaws. Elika, her vision hazy, even thought she heard the Candy calling to her. Maybe it was because she’d been using her brain too much lately—her body craved sugar.
With these hazy thoughts, the dazed Elika slowly stepped forward, reaching her little hand toward Emile’s mouth—she wanted to steal that Candy right out of those lips with her fingers.
Pa! Emile slapped Elika’s hand away, annoyed. “Hey, who said you could use your hands? Or your feet? You can’t use either!”
But that slap woke Elika up. She shook her head. “Just give me a new one.”
“This is the only one.”
Elika frowned, looking at the Candy in Emile’s open mouth. It was slick with glistening saliva, framed by her plump cherry lips and little pink tongue… No, no, no! Anyone would think that’s just filthy!
“Then—”
“No tools, either.”
“Tch.”
“Hey, did you just click your tongue? Whatever, the point is you want to eat it, right? Even someone like me, a Noble, needs to make a reservation just to get a few of these Candies. I heard elves and fairies are especially crazy about them. I heard it from Dainoy.”
Oh, Dainoy.
So that’s where they heard she was a half-elf.
Still, a single Candy costing Silver Coins, almost into four-digit Soft Girl Coin territory—wasn’t that just outrageous?
How extravagant. What a moneybags!
For some reason, watching that luxury melt slowly in the mouth of the muscle brute Emile really irked her. This brat, born into such a good Family, spending money like water every day—no wonder she was so arrogant.
“Come on, snatch it if you want it. Hm?”
Emile opened her mouth and let out an “ah,” her nimble little tongue rolling the marble-sized, sticky Candy around inside. “Just standing there? Not going to accept my kindness? If you keep hesitating, the Candy will melt, you know.”
Looking at this little impish Emile, Elika felt both angry and amused. You’re not afraid? Then what am I afraid of!
The girl quickly closed in on Emile, her chest pressing against Emile’s ribs, causing a slight dip. With a playful glint in her eye and a provocative smile at her lips, Elika puckered up and leaned in…
Ah, but she wasn’t tall enough—how embarrassing.
Reacting instantly, Elika stood on tiptoe, and as their eyes met, her lips moved closer to Emile’s gaping mouth…
“Ah!?” Thud.
Emile’s dazed eyes suddenly came to life. She staggered back a few steps and ended up falling to the floor. Seeing the Candy in Elika’s hand and the mischievous grin on her face, Emile’s cheeks flared a deep red, finally realizing what had just happened. “Y-you tricked me! You played dirty!”
Elika gave the Candy a dismissive shake, comforted herself that she’d shaken off all the saliva, and said with a beaming smile, “All’s fair in war, Lady Emile taught me that.”
“Aaagh.” Before Emile could get up and snatch it back, Elika tossed the Candy into her mouth, crunched it up, and swallowed it—not ladylike at all… Hmm, it tasted even better than she’d imagined? When the sugar touched her tongue and throat, her fatigue and mental burdens seemed to melt away.
“Surprisingly delicious.” Elika subconsciously licked her right fingertips, too.
“Ugh…” Seeing this, Emile suddenly stopped shouting and complaining, pursing her lips. Seeing that stubborn look on her face, Elika proudly waved her slender fingers.
“The Candy’s gone. Is Emile the Princess unwilling to admit defeat?”
“You’re the one who played dirty first.”
“Huh?” Elika didn’t understand what she meant.
Without a word, Emile stood up from the floor. With a single stride, she was standing right in front of Elika. Seeing the “dark face” effect on Emile, the girl thought she had really made her angry and immediately wilted. “You can’t handle losing… eh!”
“Hey! I—I didn’t wash my hands, it’s dirty!”
Elika kept trying to push her away, but no matter what she said or did, Emile ignored her completely.
“I—I was wrong, okay…”
“Lady Emile, Emile, let go, let go…”
“Sincerely call me ‘Lady Emile’ and I’ll forgive you.” Emile’s cheeks were flushed as she towered over the girl.
The muscle brute looked at Elika’s messy hair stuck to her cheeks with sweat, and for some reason, her heart started to race.
“Wh-why is it like this? It’s too much…”
“Not willing?”
This time it was Emile’s turn to bring her face close to Elika’s, but Elika had a feeling this girl wasn’t joking like she was. She twisted her head away as much as she could and muttered softly, “P-please… don’t go overboard, Lady Emile.”
Let go? You’re the one who wouldn’t behave in the first place. Outrageous… Emile refused to let go, still gripping the girl’s hands tightly, waiting for her to admit fault.
Elika seemed to try to resist, but Emile could feel that the girl’s body was far too frail, barely putting up any strength at all.
So Emile continued to stare intently at the girl, and the two of them remained locked in a standoff.
Elika, her head turned away, glared at her stubbornly, lips pressed tightly together, saying nothing.
Then, seeing the tear hanging at the corner of the girl’s eye, Emile suddenly felt her mind go cold, secretly regretting if she’d gone too far. For a moment, she didn’t know what to do.
At that moment, an unexpected voice sounded from the side.
