Returning to the Adventurer Association, Krexia and Fana’s three-person team each submitted their completed mission commissions to Sensa and reported truthfully on the abnormal strengthening of monsters in the Mageling Forest.
At first, Sensa found it hard to believe that a Tier Four Slime had appeared, but after Krexia showed the Tier Four Magic Crystal dropped by the slime, she had no choice but to accept it as fact.
As expected, the Association classified this as a significant abnormal incident and promised a thorough investigation.
Regarding the extra dangers they faced due to inaccurate intelligence from the Association, they also stated that additional mission compensation would be granted afterward.
Krexia was naturally satisfied with this response.
Although the mission had many twists and turns, the result was good, and she hadn’t been seriously injured throughout the ordeal.
Besides, these mutated monsters had appeared because of her, after all.
Hmm… thinking about it this way, taking this money didn’t feel very stable.
Oh well, at worst, she could take on more missions for the Association to help clear out their stock of high-tier commissions—it would be a good deed.
She sold the collected First-Tier Magic Crystals and various unused precious magic materials at the Association.
Together with the 80 gold coins from the C-Rank Commission and the 30 gold coins cashed in, Krexia earned a total of 240 gold coins in one go.
When she took the heavy sack of gold from Sensa’s hands, her mood instantly brightened.
240 gold coins—and that didn’t even include the mission compensation the Association would provide the next day!
Her little treasury suddenly felt well-stocked!
She finally wouldn’t have to worry about food anymore.
“Miss Krexia, your commission reward also includes a Third-Tier Magic Item. You may choose one type among attack, defense, or support.”
“Can this be cashed out?”
Krexia scratched her head and asked.
Sensa was momentarily taken aback but then answered.
“Of course. Third-tier magic items can be cashed out at market price, which would be twelve gold coins for you.”
That really was a lot.
A regular Third-Tier Magic Wand sold for twenty gold coins, so a magic item of the same tier being worth twelve gold coins was impressive.
Back when she was a wealthy noble’s daughter, she was unfamiliar with the market.
She recalled how her father never spared any expense on magic resources—wands, magical items, magic robes, Spirituality powder—they were always the best.
When visiting the Mage Guild, the most expensive Third-Tier Magic Wand she’d seen could fetch nearly fifty gold coins; Tier Four ones easily went for hundreds.
By the time she died, she had already passed the Tier Four Mage Assessment, and if she could sell her top-tier gear, it would have been worth at least a thousand gold coins.
Damn nobles really were loaded.
“Ahem… cash it out, then,” Krexia replied.
She was joking. As a genius mage, though not proficient in all of the Thirteen Major Schools of General Magic, Mana Engraving and Enchantment were among her main focuses.
Could a Third-Tier Magic Item gifted by some small Adventurer Association possibly match the quality she could craft herself?
No way—handmade was never cheaper than ready-made.
And so.
Little treasury +12.
Humming a tune, Krexia left the Adventurer Association and saw Fana and her two companions waiting outside—it was obvious they were waiting for her.
“Hm? Fana? Do you need something?”
Krexia’s entire conversation with Sensa had been within Fana’s sight, and the latter had already grasped her current situation and general personality.
“Yes, Miss Krexia. If you hadn’t helped us in time today, we might really have been in danger.”
“If you don’t mind…” Fana said, taking a bright red ring from her pocket and holding it out with both hands.
“Please accept this as our token of gratitude.”
Krexia blinked.
Of course she recognized this—Storage Ring, right?
Her father had one but, for some unknown reason, never gave her one.
Fana also wore one on her right index finger. If she remembered correctly, these were mana-inscribed by mages with Space Talent, and because their output was low, they were very expensive.
Usually, only big merchants or nobles could afford them.
She hadn’t expected Fana to be so generous—just giving away a Storage Ring like that.
“Th-this is too much…” Krexia said, sincerely taking the ring and putting it on her finger.
Seeing Krexia wear the ring, a sly gleam flashed in Fana’s eyes.
“The ring contains a gift from the three of us. Remember to check it later when you get home. We’ll be leaving now.”
Fana bowed to Krexia and then turned to leave.
Elvie and Falco felt the same—they were very grateful for Krexia’s timely aid, and their gifts had also been stored inside the ring.
Now that the mission was over, there was no need for them to stay.
The three had only gathered because of their respective missions—Fana’s was for the Academy Graduation Assessment, Falco was eager to become a Gold Adventurer, and Elvie hadn’t mentioned her reasons.
But Krexia didn’t bother asking—they were mere acquaintances, no need to pry.
As long as she got paid, that was enough.
So far, her impression of Fana was good—a hardworking young lady with decent magic talent, not top-tier but respectable; pretty, with status, and a wealthy family.
It was a pity that thinking about these things was pointless now. She had more important matters to attend to.
She tried to recall the bizarre princess who had caused her to fall to this frontier laboring existence, but frustratingly, she couldn’t remember what the princess looked like because she had never seen her.
That was awkward—she couldn’t even throw darts at a picture.
After the three had left, Krexia eagerly caressed the intricately carved red ring on her finger and infused her Spirituality deeply into it.
In her mental perception, a roughly eight-cubic-meter space appeared. It wasn’t especially large but was more than enough to store personal items.
Inside, there were various magical materials from different creatures, magic crystals, and a bag of gold coins.
She took out the bag to check—it contained exactly forty gold coins, half of the mission reward from Fana and the others.
The magic materials and magic crystals of various tiers were probably all from their monster hunts.
Thinking this, Krexia felt somewhat emotional.
Though she knew they were grateful for her timely rescue… how to put it…
Having seen the immature behavior of other fledgling nobles around her fief, it was actually quite pleasant to meet people with such rare good character.
Yes, Fana was a good person, worth befriending.
I’m always good at judging people.
As expected of me.
