“···Huh?”
Liyakade kept checking the answers Alice had written, going over them again and again, only to find that Alice’s answers were completely different from the correct ones in her own mind.
“W-why···?”
Liyakade stared blankly at the black ink on white paper in her hands. Alice’s handwriting was quite neat, but the content didn’t match the correct answers at all.
Liyakade even began to suspect that the original owner’s memories and knowledge were flawed, which explained such a big discrepancy.
Besides, there were no official correct answers released for the exam yet, and the teacher hadn’t gone over them either, so Liyakade was just getting more confused.
Wait, the original story···
Liyakade thought over the events from the original plot. It seemed like the story never mentioned how well Liyakade performed in exams; there was no record of her grades at all.
But Alice’s exam results were always shown, except for this one time, she usually ranked near the top.
And in the original story, this poor exam result was caused by the original owner secretly sabotaging Alice.
So··· Alice’s answers must be the correct ones?
Liyakade’s hand, ready to write, suddenly stopped.
But these answers completely contradicted the original owner’s memory!
What if Alice’s answers were wrong, and I changed them back to the “correct” ones?
Most of my answers and Alice’s don’t match, which means one of us must be wrong. But who’s wrong? Me or Alice!?
The original owner read so many books; her memories should be accurate!
Yes, yes, that’s right!
No, no! Alice was framed by the original owner this time. Her grades got better afterward, so Alice’s answers must be correct!
Damn, this is so frustrating. I barely paid attention in class. If only I had listened more, none of this would be happening!
Got it!
Suddenly, a spark lit up in Liyakade’s mind.
Since the options now are “original owner or Alice,” I can just pick “or,” meaning choose neither the original owner’s nor Alice’s answers.
Ha!
I’m a genius!
However, when Liyakade put her pen back on the test paper, her hand stopped involuntarily again.
But what if both the original owner and Alice were wrong, and the “or” answer was actually correct?
Wouldn’t that mean I accidentally improved Alice’s grades again?
Ahh, I can’t figure this out. My brain is trembling!
Hey, Liyakade, why is your head so pointy?
After a storm of thoughts, Liyakade decided to trust herself—trust the original owner’s memory—and that Alice’s answers were wrong!
After making this decision, Liyakade rewrote the Seal Technique and sealed both the test paper and the chamber.
It made sense. If I could unlock and cast the Seal Technique, it proves the original owner’s memory was fine. Since the original owner’s memory was accurate, the answers I wrote must be correct. So Alice’s answers were the ones with issues.
Feeling relieved after figuring this out, Liyakade exhaled deeply. Although it felt like all her efforts were in vain, at least she had completed this final Plan B.
“Ughm.” Liyakade stretched widely as she walked out of the teaching building.
“Finally, I can rest for a few days.”
She resolved that once back in her dorm, she would sleep in late. She’d also ask to skip tomorrow’s classes, claiming she needed to recover from injuries. These past few days had completely exhausted her.
“Oh? Assassin Miss might only be able to rest in prison then.”
At that moment, an untimely female voice sounded. It was as sweet as a lark’s song but carried a mocking tone.
Along with the voice came a gust of Wind Blade.
Sensing danger, Liyakade immediately rolled forward, narrowly dodging the sneak attack.
“Who’s there?”
Dodging the attack, Liyakade stabilized herself swiftly, muscles taut as she stared at the direction the Wind Blade had come from.
“Not bad, Assassin Miss. You have quick reflexes.”
The girl lightly clapped and stepped out from the shadow of the bushes. It was unclear if she was praising or mocking. “Most people can’t react in time and just get knocked flat on the ground.”
This was not just getting knocked down, was it······ getting hit like that could paralyze half the body.
Moonlight illuminated the girl, revealing her features.
She had the same chestnut hair as Field, but it was much longer, flowing smoothly down to her waist. On her head sat an adorable hairband. She looked a bit shorter than Field and even younger in appearance.
But in reality, she was the elder sister—the kingdom’s Second Princess, Sistem.
The armband on her arm represented her other identity: member of the Disciplinary Committee.
“Just now, news came from the Royal Palace that an assassin covered in blood was spotted there. She seems to have fled in the direction of the Academy,” Sistem said, eyes narrowed as she wore a harmless sweet smile.
If not for the earlier attack, Liyakade wouldn’t have connected that smile with the lethal Wind Blade aimed at her.
“And it seems you just entered one of the Academy’s Hidden Chambers? That’s a serious offense now··· Hey!”
“Who’s going to stand here and listen to you babble?”
Liyakade wasn’t about to let Sistem spout nonsense. Though she hadn’t tampered with Alice’s test paper, it was true she had entered the Hidden Chamber.
Even if she claimed she did nothing wrong, no one would believe her.
Moreover, Sistem seemed to think Liyakade was some kind of assassin.
While Liyakade considered herself a law-abiding citizen, her bloodstained uniform and tightly wrapped headgear made her look exactly like a freshly committed murderer.
“Hmph, trying to escape!?”
Sistem merely extended one hand, and Liyakade immediately felt an immense pressure pressing down from all directions.
The strong wind force made it hard for her to keep her footing.
Is this the power of the Second Princess?
Liyakade admired Sistem’s strength internally but refused to give up. Based on the information she had, their levels were only a few ranks apart, and since their attributes matched, there was no elemental advantage or disadvantage.
Given how wide Sistem’s storm was, the power must have weakened somewhat.
With this thought, Liyakade summoned the wind elements nearby and manipulated them to flow against the direction of Sistem’s storm.
Because she only controlled a small amount of wind element very close to her, she could barely counteract Sistem’s storm.
“Not bad, not bad. I didn’t expect it to be the same attribute. Let’s see what kind of assassin you really are!” Sistem’s eyes sharpened as she dropped the smile and opened her crescent-shaped slitted eyes.
In an instant, several Wind Blades shot toward Liyakade, who simultaneously countered with her own Wind Blades, deflecting all incoming attacks.
“Hmph, prepare to die, Storm Spear.”
However, as Liyakade blocked the Wind Blades, Sistem had already begun charging, the wind elements swirling around her forming an invisible spear.
Sistem pointed forward, and the Storm Spear followed her finger, aiming straight at Liyakade as if it was about to pierce through her body with tremendous force.
