The perspective at the beginning of Chapter 4 does not continue from the previous chapter’s ending.
The scene opens with a helicopter slicing through the night sky over the mountains.
In the lower right corner of the screen, a line of text appears in a style reminiscent of the COD Modern Warfare series.
North of Osaka, November 9th, XXXX year, 3:12 a.m.
The helicopter lands on a temporary helipad cleared of obstacles.
Several mysterious men wearing sunglasses despite the late hour step out.
“Where the hell did we land? Is this still Tokyo?”
“Bro, who wears sunglasses at night?”
“The answer is: blind men.”
From their dialogue and the camera shots, it’s clear this is near Mount Kongō.
The clearing team is the Self-Defense Force’s Third Division stationed in the Kinki Region.
Those “blind men” are the legendary Tokushu Jishou Taiou Honbu.
This marks Tokushu Jishou Taiou Honbu’s first appearance in the animation, their members all looking like high-ranking officials from the capital.
Since the global self-destruction of the GPRI base, Tokushu Jishou Taiou Honbu—a bureaucratic stalemate until now—has suddenly become the brightest star in the entire government system.
Even the officers from the Third Division who coordinate with them treat these “capital city big shots” with utmost politeness.
“Nothing destroyed here, right?”
The Self-Defense Force hands over a glowing, fist-sized stone retrieved from an underground space to Tokushu Jishou Honbu, and Jiang Jian Yue can’t help but complain.
The laboratory in Tokyo had left behind the Devourer G, and now Osaka produced another mysterious stone.
Jiang Jian Yue could already foresee that the future world wouldn’t be peaceful.
In fact, if she paid attention to international news, she would have seen reports of supernatural disasters erupting in Africa.
But as everyone knows, beautiful girls don’t care about international news.
Unless it’s related to some forex guru.
This stone, named the Myoken Mountain Divine Stone, was sent to Tokushu Jishou Taiou Honbu’s office building in Tokyo.
After extensive research and analysis by the scientific research department, nothing of significant value was discovered.
The peculiarity of the Myoken Mountain Divine Stone lies in the fact that anyone who touches it falls into a deep sleep.
The required touch duration to trigger sleep varies and is unrelated to one’s constitution, but the length of sleep depends on the individual’s physique.
After waking, the test subjects undergo medical examination and show no physical abnormalities.
A second test yields no effect—no matter how long they touch the stone, they no longer fall asleep.
“Sleep Stone.”
“Crimson Sleep Stone.”
“Beast Predecessor’s Legacy.”
“HOMO Stone.”
“I can’t sleep all night; I really need this stone.”
Besides inducing sleep, Tokushu Jishou Taiou Honbu hasn’t found any other special properties of the stone.
They continue recruiting volunteers for testing.
“Is this really going to be a sticky mess?”
“I thought it’d be more professional, but it’s just like this?”
“If a mud truck shows up at the start of a story, you know it’s going to crash into something by the end.”
“Did Chekhov quit being an assassin to become a bus driver?”
Even the audience feels uneasy. Surely this thing will cause trouble later.
The timeline within the story moves to after the Ikebukuro Incident, where Yuki Asahi enters Tokushu Jishou Taiou Honbu’s sight.
They briefly mention being troubled by the “children of noble families,” and the newly captured person is quickly sent away.
Amid a flurry of comments like “So familiar,” “Looks so familiar,” “Isn’t that…,” and “Explode,” Jiang Jian Yue raises her block level to the maximum.
Within the animation, Tokushu Jishou Taiou Honbu is completely clueless when faced with the corpse of Devourer G.
All of this exposes their ignorance and incompetence.
“So they’re just a makeshift crew?”
“Champion of losing coolness, from appearance to defeat took only four minutes and fifty seconds.”
“Now we know why they wear sunglasses at night—to save face.”
“By the way, where’s my OP?”
The camera slowly zooms in on Yuki Asahi’s profile photo, then switches to Yuki Asahi, who has already “been discharged” and returned to school.
Wearing the Tokiwagi High School uniform, he walks down the corridor and looks up towards the second-year floor.
Then the OP begins.
“Here, the OP you wanted has arrived.”
Jiang Jian Yue doesn’t skip the OP, seriously watching to see if the animation changes.
In the silhouette part, the figure to Yuki’s left is no longer just a shadow.
Kaori Onishi.
She stares seriously into the camera, forming a hand gesture similar to the Wuliang Void Gesture.
“Is Kaori-chan about to become Kaori/Chan?”
“She’ll win!”
“The genki girl can’t be the heroine, right? Her character name is second in the introduction.”
“What? I’m an Emi-chan fan; I don’t accept that.”
Even party disputes have appeared? Too bad, Uncle here isn’t a romanceable character!
Jiang Jian Yue thought confidently.
Then, unexpectedly, she’s hit again by her own grotesque expression in the OP, squinting her eyes, almost wanting to murder the entire Mushizuka company.
Once again, she resolves that no matter if the world ends in the future, her face will never be that distorted!
The OP ends. During break time, Yuki Asahi is caught by Kaori Onishi, who questions him about the day’s events.
He and Senior Jiang didn’t show up on Monday, and Kaori Onishi even thought they had died in Ikebukuro.
One is a classroom invisible man, the other a cold senior whom strangers avoid; almost no one has contact information for either of them.
Yuki Asahi is much more outgoing than before, but even he struggles against the pressing sunshine of Kaori Onishi.
Kaori Onishi reveals that the police came to the school on Monday, inquiring about the disappearance of those two people.
After hearing this, Yuki Asahi’s last shred of strength dissipates, and he finds an excuse to leave the classroom.
“Still no good?”
In the restroom, Yuki Asahi washes his face and murmurs to his reflection.
“Pull yourself together, you fool.”
Just as he steps out of the restroom, two young men clearly not school staff block the door.
Tokushu Jishou Taiou Honbu has come calling.
Obviously, since Kuninori Tsuruoka was assassinated, Tokushu Jishou Taiou Honbu has become somewhat anxious.
They come the very next day.
Yuki Asahi, a key target, can’t afford any more incidents.
The two field agents from Tokushu Jishou Taiou Honbu’s intelligence analysis unit briefly introduce themselves and invite Yuki Asahi to a car outside the school for a talk.
“Hey! Skipping class, huh?”
“The world’s waiting for me to save it. You want me to attend class?”
“Your car’s got AC too?”
“Finally found you. I was wondering why the main character wasn’t locked up yet.”
“Red King watching anime? Now I know the level of your audience.”
Even with the highest settings, the comment section remains full of nonsense.
Sigh… all is past.
Tokushu Jishou Taiou Honbu’s visit is mainly to establish contact with Yuki Asahi.
Let alone cooperation, just making a connection is a good thing.
Incidentally, they inform Yuki Asahi about Kuninori Tsuruoka’s assassination.
At this point, a flashback is inserted: surveillance footage shows Kuninori Tsuruoka inside the Archives Room.
After the interrogators leave, he suddenly speaks toward a direction with a strange expression.
Then his neck suddenly sprays blood.
“Why doesn’t this surveillance have audio?”
“Comedy explanation: the psychic organization can’t afford sound-recording cameras.”
“Is that Emi-chan? The Invisibility Wristwatch is with her, right?”
“Huh? Jiang Jian is still alive?”
“For those above, last episode’s ending atmosphere clearly hinted it; if you don’t get it, I suggest watching Baby Bus.”
After hearing of the death, Yuki Asahi’s eyes, hidden beneath his bangs, are as calm as still water.
“Good.”
He mutters the word only he can hear.
