Aiden was dead—just like that, without any explanation.
When he woke up again, he found himself in a chaotic void.
There was no ground beneath his feet, yet he could stand; no light source around him, yet he could see himself clearly.
This place was empty—endless, blank, and void of anything.
“Where is this?”
Aiden instinctively moved his fingers to confirm the sensation was real, then spoke.
His voice echoed as if in the void.
“Human, you are dead.”
At that moment, a solemn female voice came from all directions.
“Who are you? A god?”
Aiden frowned and asked aloud.
“You could say that.”
The female voice paused, with a hint of amusement in its tone.
“Where is this? The afterlife?”
Aiden looked around, trying to find the source of the voice.
“Not exactly. When humans die, their souls return to the earth.”
The voice replied.
“This is the Throne of the Gods. I brought you here before your soul was completely scattered.”
“Why? What do you want?”
“Your life was filled with betrayal and deceit, and you died because of it. You must feel a strong Resentment.”
The voice seemed to chuckle softly, and suddenly scenes from Aiden’s life appeared in the space like a revolving lantern.
“Unwilling to end like this, huh? How about I give you another chance?”
“What kind of chance?”
Aiden narrowed his eyes.
“Let’s make a deal. I will reincarnate you into another world. Complete my task, and you can return with my Blessing to take your revenge.”
The female voice gradually formed into a vague female silhouette.
She raised her hand, showing images of Aiden’s enemies fleeing in panic.
“You will wield my Blessing and wipe out those who betrayed and framed you. How does that sound?”
“Sounds interesting.”
Aiden stared at the images for a few seconds before breaking into a smile.
“I agree.”
His tone was decisive, without hesitation.
If he could rewrite all of this, maybe…
“Good. You are worthy of being chosen by me.”
The voice contained a trace of approval.
Ripples spread through the space as a translucent projection appeared, displaying a world of swords and Magic.
“This world was once destroyed because the Four Magicians fell into darkness and became the Four Witches.”
“I forcibly Restarted the Timeline here.”
The scene shifted to burning cities and rampaging witches, then reverted to a peaceful state.
“But if left unchecked, the timeline will converge automatically, leading inevitably to destruction. So I need to introduce a variable—that variable is you, human.”
“You mean I have to defeat the Four Witches and save the world?”
Aiden pointed at himself, surprised.
He was supposed to fight witches powerful enough to destroy the world?
Was this for real?
“They are not witches by nature. Before falling into darkness, the Four Magicians were kind-hearted people.”
“Except for their Male Aversion, caused by childhood trauma, they were normal.”
The voice replied.
The scenes changed to show the four girls in everyday life, then fast-forwarded to betrayals and deceits they endured.
“In the following year, they faced lies, deception, and betrayal… eventually falling into darkness and becoming the witches who destroyed the world.”
Though each girl’s scene lasted only seconds, Aiden frowned deeply.
If he had experienced those things, he might have turned dark as well.
“Your task is to approach them, guide them to change their life paths, and prevent the timeline from repeating the same downfall. Sounds easy, right?”
The voice asked.
“But they have Male Aversion. How am I supposed to get close to them?”
Aiden shrugged.
“Are you going to turn me into a woman?”
“Unfortunately, after Restarting the Timeline, I have no extra power to reshape your body except reincarnating you there.”
The female voice explained.
The scene showed the girls interacting normally with a few males.
“Though they despise men, they’re not completely unreachable. You can work hard to change their prejudices, become their companions, build bonds, and change the world’s doomed ending.”
“As the reincarnated, shouldn’t I have some kind of cheat or power? Do you have anything to help me complete the task?”
Aiden thought for a moment, then looked up at the void.
“Of course, I’ve prepared something.”
The female voice chuckled lightly.
With a snap, points of light gathered in front of Aiden, gradually forming a silver-haired fairy no larger than a palm.
The fairy looked exquisite, like a doll in an idol-style JK uniform—deep blue plaid skirt, black thigh-high socks, and four translucent green wings fluttering gently behind her.
“What is this?”
Aiden stared at the tiny creature blinking its wings and furrowed his brow.
“An emergency ration?”
“This is the God Envoy I created, named Ruby.”
The voice responded.
“She will assist you in completing your task.”
Ruby the fairy rubbed her eyes and stretched lazily.
Light particles scattered from her wings with her movements.
“What can you do?”
Aiden eyed the palm-sized little thing suspiciously.
“Are you my master?”
Ruby suddenly perked up, fluttering to eye level.
She circled Aiden once, then stopped in front of him, hands behind her back, swaying her body.
“Ruby can do so many things~”
She counted on her fingers.
“I can introduce you to the world’s people, cheer you on in your actions… oh! And I can dance to entertain you!”
At that, Ruby spun excitedly, dancing to some rhythm only she could hear, while sparkles appeared around her.
“Uh… besides this, do you have any real useful abilities?”
Aiden twitched his cheek and pointed at the fairy absorbed in her dancing.
“How can you say that, Master! Ruby is very capable!”
Ruby stopped dancing immediately, puffed out her cheeks, and flew up to Aiden’s face, hands on hips, wings beating fast.
Her expression was adorably pouty.
“Ruby has many helpful skills. I just can’t introduce them all now. You’ll discover them slowly.”
The female voice sounded amused but began to fade.
The space trembled slightly.
“My power is spent and I must rest. When the world’s downfall arrives, we will meet again.”
“Wait—”
Aiden wanted to ask more, but suddenly everything around him fell completely silent.
He looked down to see a glowing circle beneath his feet.
Before he could react, a bright light engulfed him, and he disappeared from there.
Knock knock knock.
The sound of knuckles tapping on a wooden desk suddenly rang out.
Aiden snapped his eyes open.
Teacher Clare stood by his desk, her index finger still raised in a tapping gesture.
“Looks like Aiden is sleeping soundly. I assume you’ve already grasped the knowledge in this lesson, right?”
Clare pushed up her glasses and stepped aside to the blackboard.
“Then please come to the front and solve this Spell Construction Formula.”
Aiden rubbed his temples, suddenly realizing he had just fallen asleep.
He turned to Cerise, who was giving him a cold look with her icy blue eyes.
Other classmates had turned to look as well.
A few boys were already smirking maliciously.
Aiden even caught some whispers from the back.
“Sleeping in Clare’s class? That’s asking for trouble.”
“Even if your magic theory was perfect in the transfer exam, you can’t slack off like this.”
“This is brand-new material. The transfer student is done for now.”
Helpless, Aiden slowly stood and forced himself to the stage.
He had no idea how to solve the Spell Construction Formula, so he had no choice but to ask Ruby for help.
[Please help me, Lady Ruby.]
Ruby floated with her arms crossed, humming happily as she flew to the blackboard and began instructing Aiden.
[First, draw a Six-Pointed Star Base, then like this…]
Following Ruby’s directions, Aiden’s chalk smoothly traced a complex magic circle on the board.
When the final stroke was finished, a chorus of surprised gasps echoed through the classroom.
Cerise looked down at the formula she had just solved in her notebook, then back at the board’s answer, frowning slightly.
She lightly tapped each symbol on her paper, confirming every detail matched perfectly.
She had spent a lot of time solving it, while Aiden had been sleeping—was he pretending?
“Perfectly correct, Aiden. You may return to your seat. No wonder you had time to sleep during class.”
Teacher Clare nodded and glanced meaningfully at Aiden, pausing before adding,
“Next time, be careful not to disturb your classmates when you sleep.”
Aiden forced a dry laugh and hurried back to his seat.
Cerise’s gaze remained fixed on him.
“Impressive.”
