The vast living room was empty…
The atmosphere suddenly became terrifyingly quiet.
“Ye Zhou, your prank should be over by now, right?”
Even without looking at the Jiang Yingxue beside him, Ye Zhou could still feel a cold, piercing gaze directed at him. He subconsciously swallowed his saliva.
What was going on? Could it be that the intel he received today in his mind didn’t actually exist at all, and he had just become mentally unstable from spending too much time in the Drama and Film Club?
But since he had already taken this final step, there was no turning back. He could only move forward.
“Club Leader Jiang, I think, well, some people don’t like being in the living room in broad daylight… ahaha…”
“Not finished playing yet? Fine, I’ll see this through to the end.”
At the bedroom door at the end of a small corridor, Jiang Yingxue stopped abruptly. From the slightly ajar door, the mixed sounds of heavy breathing and soft moans drifted out.
She furrowed her brows. Without a moment’s hesitation, she stepped forward with a long, pale leg and kicked the door open.
The air froze instantly; one could hear a pin drop.
The legendary “**” was now unfolding before their eyes in reality.
The “driver” was a handsome blonde guy, and the “car” was a blonde woman with heavy curves.
Their eyes met immediately.
“Ah!”
The blonde woman shrieked, being the first to dive under the covers, trembling.
The blonde man then picked up his scattered clothes and pants from the floor, hurriedly putting them on.
“Jiang Yingxue, this is my house. What are you doing barging in without my permission?”
“Heh, isn’t your house my house?” Jiang Yingxue’s lips curled into a cold sneer.
“You…”
The blonde man was momentarily speechless, then added, “Anyway, as you can see, I have nothing to explain.”
“Jin Mingyu, oh Jin Mingyu…”
Jiang Yingxue crossed her arms over her chest, an imperceptible trace of mockery crossing her lips. “Why are you putting on an act of being guilty? Even if we’re talking about who was wrong first, it should be me, right?”
“What do you mean?” Jin Mingyu seemed to guess something, but he didn’t dare confirm it.
“Right before your eyes—it means exactly what you think it means…”
Jiang Yingxue twirled her silver hair by her ear and pursed her lips. She turned to the still-dazed Ye Zhou and gave him a fleeting kiss on the cheek, leaving behind a faint, rose-colored lipstick mark.
Ye Zhou was stunned. He looked at Jiang Yingxue, his eyes full of disbelief.
No way?
This is clearly between you two; why are you dragging me into it?
Wait, something is extremely—ten out of eleven points—wrong here!
How did I become the paramour?
Jiang Yingxue tossed her hair, her right eye winking quietly as a flicker of mischief flashed in her gaze, as if she were retaliating for the words Ye Zhou had spoken:
“Club Leader Jiang, I’m in a hurry to catch a cheater!”
Actually, from the moment he entered the bedroom, Ye Zhou had been shocked. Of course, it wasn’t just because of the scene before him, but because today’s intel in his mind was real, not fake.
Although he didn’t know why he suddenly possessed it, as far as he was concerned, there were no downsides—and there seemed to be benefits, doesn’t it?
Seeing his fiancée flirting with another man right in front of him, Jin Mingyu was like a barrel of dynamite; he exploded at the slightest touch.
“Fine, fine, fine! Jiang Yingxue, I was wondering why you’d bring a nerd along to barge into my house.”
“I should have guessed it. We clearly have an engagement, yet you usually won’t even let me hold your hand, let alone live together. It turns out you have another man!”
“Even with this paper-thin verbal engagement, even if I’m cheating now, it’s entirely thanks to you! Even a monk can at least eat some vegetables, but I’m worse than a damn monk—I can’t eat anything!”
Jiang Yingxue looked down at her simple manicure, acting as if nothing mattered.
“Exactly. I came here precisely because I wanted to tell you about this, but it just so happens you’re doing the same. Let’s not call the kettle black; the only difference is who cheated first.”
“I…”
Jin Mingyu opened his mouth, unable to refute. He could only glare at Ye Zhou with a look that seemed like it wanted to devour him.
Ye Zhou shrugged, feeling innocent. He had kindly brought Jiang Yingxue to catch the cheater, but she had repaid his kindness with enmity. He felt somewhat dissatisfied.
But putting that aside, at least for now, he temporarily shared the same viewpoint as Jiang Yingxue: cheaters could not be tolerated.
Love should be like a pure sheet of white paper, colored by bright crayons; how could it be polluted by ink?
Ye Zhou glared back, refusing to show weakness, and even rolled up his sleeves.
“Do you think this nerd, looks like an easy target?”
“I’m telling you, even a cornered rabbit bites. Not to mention you’re currently in sage time—even if I only use one finger, you’ll have to lie down obediently…”
Unexpectedly, before he could finish his sentence, Jin Mingyu threw a punch without a word.
Jiang Yingxue acted first, grabbing Ye Zhou’s arm and pulling him back a step or two. With a Bang!, she slammed the door shut, inserted the key, and turned it to lock him in.
As expected, Jin Mingyu’s punch inside the room landed hard on the door.
The sound of him gasping in pain followed, and then he began to bash against the door with his body. However, the door was incredibly sturdy—no one knew where it was manufactured—and it didn’t budge.
“Jiang Yingxue, open the door! You’re just going to protect this nerd, aren’t you? I’m giving you one last chance right now: break off all ties with him immediately, or our families’ engagement is off!”
“You won’t open it? Okay. Anyway, I’ve already memorized his face. Not for any particular reason, just because I’m a severe germaphobe.”
Jiang Yingxue put away her phone, her tone indifferent.
“Jin Mingyu, you really are quite a hypocrite. One rule for you, another for me.”
“As for our engagement being off, Hmph, that’s exactly what I’ve been wishing for. I never had any expectations or feelings for this arrangement my family set up.”
“By the way, you should save some strength for your performance in front of your parents. I’ve already called them over.”
As soon as those words were spoken, the room fell silent, leaving only a powerless roar:
“What? You called my parents too? Damn it! Jiang Yingxue, you’re a crazy woman!”
“Heh… thank you for the compliment,” Jiang Yingxue said with a half-smile.
Seeing this, Ye Zhou’s eyes couldn’t stop twitching. This Jiang Yingxue was far too domineering and aggressive.
***
The two walked in silence until they reached where Jiang Yingxue had parked.
Ye Zhou looked up at the sky at a 45-degree angle. He had no other thoughts, only a heartfelt exclamation:
“Ah… the sky is so blue…”
“Get in the car.”
“Oh…”
Ye Zhou wanted to sit in the back seat, but he found it was locked; only the passenger door could be opened.
Jiang Yingxue placed a pair of silver stiletto heels from the seat into the back, and Ye Zhou got into the car somewhat nervously. He knew deep down that what was coming would come, and there was no way to hide from it.
“Speak. How did you know about this? Hmm?”
“…”
Ye Zhou didn’t say a word.
Sometimes silence is the best answer.
A few seconds passed, and Jiang Yingxue tapped the steering wheel, speaking slowly. “Everyone has their own secrets. If you don’t want to say, I have no right to ask.”
“But I just want to say, regarding what happened between us just now, don’t overthink it. It was just an act.”
“Normally, everyone who enters the Drama and Film Club has to undergo an entrance evaluation. That determines whether they can become an official member.”
“Congratulations, Ye Zhou. You barely passed. At the same time, I hope that no one else in the club finds out about today. Can you do that?”
Ye Zhou covered his mouth with both hands and nodded honestly. “I get it, I get it…”
“Since that’s the case, what are you still dazing off for?”
Ye Zhou thought Jiang Yingxue was telling him to get out of the car. He hurriedly opened the door, only to be pulled back as Jiang Yingxue suddenly leaned over to close the door and fasten his seatbelt for him.
Suddenly overwhelmed by her scent, Ye Zhou’s vision blurred.
It seemed that today, the sky was not only blue, but also white and vast…
