The atmosphere in the warehouse plummeted to freezing point the instant Lin Luan spoke.
But the ringleader among the thugs quickly realized—Lin Luan was alone.
“Damn it! You’re here by yourself and you still dare act tough!” The tattooed thug, infuriated by Lin Luan’s arrogant attitude, spat a curse, then swung the beer bottle in his hand straight toward Lin Luan’s head.
The other four thugs snapped out of their stupor as if waking from a dream, brandishing wooden clubs and fists as they lunged from different directions.
Faced with a simultaneous assault from five people, Lin Luan showed not a shred of fear.
All those muscles on his body weren’t just for show!
At the very moment the beer bottle, accompanied by the sound of rushing wind, came smashing down, he pivoted, stepped in close, and cut through the attack!
His movement was lightning-fast—precisely dodging the bottle’s trajectory while his left hand locked onto the tattooed thug’s wrist, wrenching it down sharply!
“Crack!” The sound of bone snapping mingled with a shrill scream, and the beer bottle slipped from the thug’s hand, shattering on the ground.
“Ah!!!!” The thug writhed on the ground in agony.
Though one had been dealt with, the remaining thugs didn’t pause their assault.
At the same instant, a wooden club from Lin Luan’s right side was already sweeping toward his head.
There was no time to dodge completely—he could only raise his arm, forcefully blocking the blow with his right forearm.
“Bang!” The dull thud of impact rang out.
Lin Luan grunted, his brow furrowing as a piercing pain shot through his arm—he could feel the force behind that strike.
The thug stared, stunned, as Lin Luan took the blow head-on.
Lin Luan seized the split-second opportunity, locking his eyes on the club-wielding thug. His five fingers curled like hooks, then he struck fiercely at the man’s throat!
Instantly, a suffocating sensation gripped the thug, robbing him of his ability to fight—he collapsed limply to his knees.
The fight erupted and ended almost in a flash. Two men down in the blink of an eye! The remaining three thugs, terrified by Lin Luan’s swift and ruthless moves, dared not make another move.
***
From start to finish, it had been barely twenty or thirty seconds.
The five thugs, who had swaggered so menacingly just moments ago, now had two groaning and writhing on the ground in pain—leaving everyone present in utter shock.
Lin Luan slowly straightened up, gently rolling his right arm that had taken the club blow. A sharp pain shot through him, causing him to suck in a breath.
He glanced down—the sleeve of his suit jacket was already torn. These clothes were never designed to handle this sort of situation.
Lin Luan drew in a cold breath and looked back at Su Jin.
Su Jin didn’t even glance his way, just kept tapping away on her phone, sending some sort of message.
Great. Now he’d have to pay for the damage.
As Lin Luan was considering how to pay her back—or whether he could make it up by offering Su Jin some extra services—Qin Qing, who’d been sitting on the ground, was utterly stunned.
She had never seen this man before.
She just sat there blankly, watching this well-dressed man whose hair was a bit greasy.
Her heart pounded out of control in her chest, drumming in her ears louder and louder.
Qin Qing had always thought she’d never truly fall for a man in her life—especially a greasy-looking guy who seemed like some sort of gigolo, just like the one before her.
She’d grown used to the childish bravado and pretentious airs of the boys at school, and had already seen through the hypocrisy of so-called successful men in society.
But right in this moment, that inexplicable pride she’d always had shattered like glass struck by a hammer—gone in an instant, utterly destroyed.
He was like the prince in a fairy tale, riding a white horse, making Qin Qing realize that all the maturity she’d pretended to have while rescuing Lin Wan was nothing but Juvenile Game between children.
There were so many better solutions—yet she’d chosen the most self-centered way, just like childish squabbling, still needing adults to clean up the mess.
Qin Qing felt her cheeks heat up uncontrollably, her breathing growing ragged, an unfamiliar, bittersweet emotion twining around her heart, tightening with every second.
It’s over.
She told herself silently.
Qin Qing, you’re finished.
You always thought you couldn’t be moved by anyone—turns out, it was only because the person who could move you hadn’t appeared until today.
She remained frozen in place, watching her white knight walk to Lin Wan’s side, gently ruffle her hair, and say in a warm voice that was completely different from before: “It’s okay now, Xiao Wan. All right.”
“Mm……” Lin Wan could barely speak through her sobs.
Then, Lin Luan’s gaze turned toward her.
In that instant, Qin Qing felt her heart skip a beat.
“You’re… Qin Qing, right?” Lin Luan smiled and reached out a hand to help her up. “Thank you for looking after our Xiao Wan.”
“Ah, I… mm.” Qin Qing turned her head, blushing as she reached out her hand.
Lin Luan helped Qin Qing to her feet.
It really was a heartwarming scene—but the remaining three thugs couldn’t stand to see it.
They trembled all over, eyes fixed on Lin Luan.
Why is this man so strong?!
No… there must be a weakness. No matter how strong, everyone has a weakness—maybe it just isn’t on him…
Then where?
A thug with a dragon tattoo scanned the surroundings. The two female students were now being guarded by Lin Luan—there was no way they could be taken hostage.
His gaze landed on Su Jin, who was still standing by the warehouse door.
It’s her! She’s the weak spot of that guy in the suit!
Damn that man… I’ll make you pay for this!
A wicked grin crept across the tattooed thug’s lips as he lunged forward, trying to grab Su Jin and use her as a hostage.
Lin Luan didn’t even look back.
Su Jin was still playing with her phone.
“Pa!”
The thug’s hand stopped midair.
Just an arm’s length from Su Jin, his wrist was locked in a grip.
It was a slender yet powerful hand—like an iron clamp—holding the tattooed thug in place, stopping him cold.
The savage grin on his face froze instantly. He looked up in shock and met a pair of icy cold eyes.
Song Li had appeared at Su Jin’s side like a phantom, without anyone noticing.
“You picked the wrong person.” Song Li’s red lips parted slightly.
The next second, she twisted her wrist sharply!
“Crack—!”
The thug’s elbow dislocated on the spot! Before he could even scream, Song Li’s other hand chopped precisely at his neck.
The tattooed thug didn’t even make a sound before collapsing like a pile of mud, instantly losing consciousness.
It all happened so quickly that the vicious looks on the faces of the remaining two thugs didn’t even have time to change to terror before they froze in place.
Song Li slowly released her grip, letting the limp body slide to the ground.
“Thud!”
The last two thugs dropped to their knees almost simultaneously, kowtowing desperately, all their bravado gone, replaced only by abject terror.
“Please… please have mercy, big sister! No, granny! We were wrong! We’ll never do it again!”
“It was… it was Li Shasha! That bitch told us to come! It’s got nothing to do with us!”
They sobbed and begged incoherently, as if desperate to cut open their chests to show how sorry they were.
Song Li ignored them, tilting her head slightly to look at Su Jin, who was still playing with her phone, seeking instructions with her eyes.
At last, Su Jin nonchalantly locked her phone screen, then looked up.
“So noisy.” She spoke coldly, then waved at Song Li. “Call the police and handle this by the book.”
Call the police?
On hearing this, the two thugs—who had been scared out of their wits—actually breathed sighs of relief.
The police? Just the police?
They’d been hanging around the streets for years; fighting and brawling was nothing new. They’d even been to the station before.
This sort of incident would, at most, earn them a few days of detention and maybe some compensation. Pull a few strings, and after the heat died down, they’d be out again.
Compared to facing the private wrath of that terrifying woman and the man in the suit, jail would be like a vacation!
Su Jin caught all the subtle shifts in their expressions, a trace of ridicule flashing through her beautiful eyes.
“I know what you’re thinking.” She spoke slowly. “For people like you, a trip to the police station isn’t much of a punishment as long as you have the right connections, right?
“Too bad for you—I have the best Elite Lawyer Team in all of Chang City.”
The thugs were stunned.
“Did this place you picked have any surveillance?” Su Jin asked coldly. “I doubt it.
“Armed gang assault, intentional injury—even attempted counts—and… attempted kidnapping?” Her gaze swept lazily over the kneeling thugs.
“Multiple charges combined. You’ll have plenty of years inside to reflect on your mistakes.”
The thugs felt cold sweat drip from their foreheads, splattering on the ground.
This wasn’t ordinary police business at all! She was trying to ruin them!
“No… you can’t! It was just a fight…” One thug finally broke down and screamed.
“The moment you came after me, it became a whole different matter.”
Su Jin had lost all interest in listening to their nonsense. With a wave of her hand, Song Li immediately began calling the police and contacting the legal team.
Su Jin lowered her head again, playing with her phone, her cold profile the only thing left for the others to see.
Lin Luan looked at Su Jin in silence.
She really is a crazy woman.
