The cabin slowly ascended to the highest point. Su Nuannuan stared down at the shrinking scenery below, feeling completely unsettled.
She curled up tensely, her small hands gripping the edge of the seat tightly. Only when the Ferris wheel steadily landed and the cabin door opened did she finally let out a long breath, her pale face following the others out.
Zhou Qianqian looked at her like that and found her both amusing and adorable, pulling her hand to comfort her.
“Ah, don’t worry. I’ll bring you here to ride a few more times, then you won’t be scared anymore! Afraid of a Ferris wheel, you little scaredy-cat~” she said, squeezing Su Nuannuan’s soft hand.
Zhou Qianqian was still excited and wanted to drag Su Nuannuan over to try the more thrilling drop tower and roller coaster.
Lin Wei looked at those crazy roller coasters flipping high in the sky, with screams echoing intermittently, unable to understand why anyone would spend money to suffer like that.
“Come on, Nuannuan, it looks scary, but it’s not scary at all! It’s super fun!” Zhou Qianqian eagerly encouraged.
Su Nuannuan glanced at the nearly vertical tracks and the roller coasters constantly plunging at high speeds, then shook her head. “Are you kidding? I don’t believe it!”
Zhou Qianqian sighed. “Alright then.” It seemed like today there was no way she could get Su Nuannuan to challenge any extremes.
At that moment, Su Nuannuan’s eyes lit up. She pointed at the pirate ship not far away. “Let’s go on that one! It looks… probably not so scary?” She pulled Zhou Qianqian toward the pirate ship attraction.
Zhou Qianqian looked at the pirate ship swinging very high, with passengers screaming constantly. Her expression was a bit strange. “Nuannuan… are you sure you want to ride this?”
That thing has a strong sense of weightlessness too, you know!
Su Nuannuan took another careful look and thought it hadn’t flipped over, so it did seem gentler than the roller coaster and drop tower. She nodded firmly.
A serious expression that said, “I’m very brave.”
Zhou Qianqian stifled a mischievous smile. “Alright, alright, I’ll go with you then.”
She grabbed Su Nuannuan’s hand and was about to line up, but Su Nuannuan suddenly stopped and glanced back at Lin Wei, who was still standing there surveying the surroundings like she was inspecting something.
Zhou Qianqian followed her gaze and suddenly understood. She said to Su Nuannuan, “Hey, why don’t you ask your sister if she wants to join you?”
Su Nuannuan shyly spoke, “Sis… sister, do you want to… ride this with us?”
Hearing the question, Lin Wei cleared her throat and stood there thinking, her eyes darting side to side. A helpless expression appeared on her face, as if saying “I really can’t deal with you two,” but in the end, she took a step forward and followed them.
Zhou Qianqian rolled her eyes, silently thinking: This stubborn tsundere!
The three started choosing their seats. The pirate ship had three seats in a row.
Su Nuannuan was the first to sit in the innermost seat, excitedly patting the empty seat beside her.
Lin Wei was about to sit down next to her when Zhou Qianqian slipped in first beside Su Nuannuan and gave Lin Wei a triumphant smile.
Lin Wei: “……”
She was stunned for a moment, then sat expressionlessly in the outermost seat.
The pirate ship started, initially swinging slowly. Su Nuannuan found it novel and smiled brightly.
But as the swings grew wider and the sense of weightlessness hit again and again, her smile faded. Her face turned pale as she gripped the safety rail tightly.
After getting off, Su Nuannuan’s legs felt weak. She hurried to squat down on the side, feeling her heart about to jump out of her throat.
Zhou Qianqian held her stomach, laughing so hard she could barely stand. “Haha, Nuannuan, you’re too funny! You even wanted to ride this yourself!”
Lin Wei stood beside them, looking at the crouching Su Nuannuan with a hint of amusement.
Once Su Nuannuan recovered, the three started strolling through the amusement park to regain their strength.
Zhou Qianqian and Su Nuannuan took pictures everywhere. Zhou Qianqian also snapped a few of Lin Wei. Though a bit uncomfortable, Lin Wei didn’t refuse.
While taking photos, Zhou Qianqian suddenly said, “Come on, Nuannuan, stand next to your sister. I’ll take a photo of you two together!”
Lin Wei blinked but said nothing.
Su Nuannuan hesitated, glancing at Lin Wei’s expressionless face.
“Quick, stand over here!” Zhou Qianqian urged.
“Oh… okay.” Su Nuannuan slowly moved next to Lin Wei. There was a small distance between them, and both wore slightly awkward expressions.
Zhou Qianqian looked through the camera at the awkward sisters and clicked the shutter.
Tired from walking, the three went to the area where snacks were clustered and ordered a lot to feast on.
The afternoon sun grew stronger…
They passed by the haunted house. Its eerie and creepy exterior and faint screams from inside made Su Nuannuan hesitate, but Zhou Qianqian’s eyes lit up. “Let’s go play this! It must be cool inside!”
Su Nuannuan quickly shook her hand. “Ah? No way, Qianqian…”
“Come on, come on! It’s all fake! Not scary at all!”
Zhou Qianqian swung Su Nuannuan’s arm, acting coquettish, then looked at Lin Wei, winking wildly. “Right, Lin Wei? You want to play too, don’t you?”
Lin Wei: “I… I’m fine with it.”
Zhou Qianqian: “……”
Su Nuannuan still shook her head fearfully. Zhou Qianqian sighed, a bit disappointed. “Alright…”
Just as the three were about to leave, Su Nuannuan saw her friend’s disappointed look and then glanced at the creepy haunted house entrance…
She gritted her teeth, as if making a decision. “Okay… I’ll try it just once…”
Zhou Qianqian’s face instantly brightened. She excitedly shook Su Nuannuan’s hand. “Great! Let’s go!”
The three passed the tickets and entered the haunted house.
Inside, the lighting was dim with eerie red and green flashes. The terrifying background music and occasional screams sent chills down their spines.
Su Nuannuan immediately got scared, tightly closing her eyes and letting Zhou Qianqian lead her, her body trembling slightly.
Lin Wei, on the other hand, looked around disdainfully at the shoddy sets and props, thinking the quality was really poor.
Zhou Qianqian led the way, comforting her, “Don’t worry, Nuannuan, it’s all fake. I’m here!”
Su Nuannuan’s voice trembled. “Qianqian… don’t let go… I’m really scared…”
“Got it, got it, won’t let go… Ah!” Before Zhou Qianqian finished speaking, she suddenly screamed on purpose, jerked her hand free, and dashed forward, disappearing into the dark corner instantly.
Empty-handed, Su Nuannuan’s heart jolted. She hurriedly opened her eyes. “Qianqian? Qianqian, where did you go?!”
Darkness surrounded her, only the terrifying sound effects echoing…
Suddenly, a coffin lid next to her slammed open with a bang, and a pale-faced “zombie” suddenly sat up!
“Ah!” Su Nuannuan screamed, instinctively dodging to the side!
But then another “ghost,” draped in tattered cloth with glowing red eyes, lunged at her from the other side!
“Waaah! Don’t grab me!” Su Nuannuan was truly terrified, turning and stumbling backward without thinking, crashing straight into a familiar fragrant embrace. She clung tightly like an octopus.
Lin Wei felt the weight in her arms—a warm, trembling body pressed against her. She instinctively wrapped her arms around her to keep her from falling.
“Don’t be afraid… it’s me, Lin Wei.” Her voice was a bit stiff as she tried to comfort the shaking girl in her arms.
Hearing the familiar cool voice, Su Nuannuan seemed to find a lifeline and ignored her usual fear.
She buried her face in Lin Wei’s arms and burst into tears. “Waaah… you scared me to death… there’s a ghost grabbing me…”
Lin Wei held the overly frightened little animal in her arms, silently staring at the poorly made prop swaying nearby.
Was this thing really that scary?
Just then, the culprit Zhou Qianqian came running back from the front with a big grin. Seeing this scene, she burst out laughing. “Hahaha, Nuannuan, you’re just too adorable!”
Hearing the laughter, Su Nuannuan lifted her tear-streaked face from Lin Wei’s embrace and looked at her mischievous friend, both embarrassed and angry. “You’re mean! Qianqian, you scared me!”
After Su Nuannuan’s emotions settled a bit, the three continued forward.
This time, no matter what, Su Nuannuan didn’t dare let go. She instinctively held Lin Wei’s hand tightly, taking cautious steps with a pounding heart.
Lin Wei felt the soft, slightly sweaty hand in hers. She found it a bit strange and even unconsciously squeezed it gently.
Su Nuannuan, still in shock, didn’t notice at all.
Only when they finally exited the haunted house into the sunlight did Su Nuannuan exhale deeply.
She looked up and caught Zhou Qianqian’s strange gaze. Only then did she realize she was still tightly holding Lin Wei’s hand!
Oh no… I was still clinging to Lin Wei just now! She can’t think I did it on purpose, right…
Blaming Zhou Qianqian…
Su Nuannuan quickly pulled her hand away as if it were burning hot, her face instantly flushed red. She glared at Zhou Qianqian, both shy and annoyed. “I… I’m mad! I’m not talking to you anymore!”
She pouted, pretending to look fierce.
Lin Wei touched her nose.
Zhou Qianqian immediately came over, grabbed Su Nuannuan’s arm, shook it, and apologized with a big smile, “Ah, Nuannuan~ my bad, my bad~ just joking~ don’t be mad, look, you came out safe and sound~”
Su Nuannuan puffed her cheeks, pretending to ignore her, but her eyes softened considerably.
Zhou Qianqian continued playfully teasing and apologizing as Lin Wei followed behind, silently lost in thought.
