Run away!
You’re barking up the wrong tree!
She can’t even beat the Young Lady—how is she supposed to help with this?
“Um… I don’t think I can help with this. Why don’t you ask Little Die instead? Lately, Little Die’s skills have been improving by leaps and bounds. She’s even stronger than me now.”
Su Mengdie’s expression was slightly awkward as she glanced at Penelope for help.
Penelope, for her part, looked eager and restless, clearly itching to see for herself just how formidable this expert Xia Shuashuai spoke of really was.
But Xia Shuashuai didn’t see it that way.
“Really? But I checked your records recently, and didn’t you win all eleven matches against Little Die?”
That’s right.
The one with the eleven Win Streaks is none other than the current ‘Su Mengdie’.
She really wanted to come out and say it, but it was obviously not the right time.
“That’s because we were swapping accounts.”
Account-swapping is a pretty common thing in Game.
Especially when you’ve got something your friend doesn’t have—they might borrow your Account just for a little experience (but only among close friends).
So Su Mengdie’s explanation made sense.
The real issue was, yesterday, the Account that didn’t reply to Xia Shuashuai was ‘Su Mengdie’.
“So, you’re saying… The one who ignored me all day yesterday wasn’t Little Die, but you?!”
Xia Shuashuai frowned, her face a mix of grievance and confusion.
“Why did you ignore me yesterday? I called you last night to play Game, and you didn’t pick up—what’s that supposed to mean? Are we drifting apart?”
“No, no, when you called me yesterday I was having a one-on-one with Little Die. At the time…”
In order to clear up the misunderstanding, Su Mengdie told Xia Shuashuai the whole story about the bet from yesterday.
After hearing her explanation, Xia Shuashuai was all smiles.
“So what you’re saying is, my Popup yesterday made you lose the whole bet?”
“Exactly! I was so close to winning, and then you suddenly popped up with a voice call…”
Su Mengdie would remember this for the rest of her life.
So annoying!
She was just a hair’s breadth away from victory, but even with cheats she still couldn’t beat Penelope.
If word got out, wouldn’t the two of them laugh themselves silly?
Actually, Xia Shuashuai was already on the verge of bursting out laughing.
“Stop laughing! If you keep laughing, I’ll tell Little Die not to help you!”
“Alright, alright, I’m not laughing, not laughing. Go turn on your computer, I’ll chat with Little Die for a bit and join you in a sec.”
“Okay~”
Su Mengdie’s reply was tinged with a bit of resentment.
“…So that’s about it. That person’s moves were flawless, honestly didn’t even feel human.”
While Su Mengdie was starting up her PC, Xia Shuashuai described her Game encounter to Penelope.
“You mean someone was using cheats?”
“No, it didn’t feel like that… If it was cheats, I’d probably have noticed right away.”
Xia Shuashuai was no slouch—she could still grab a kill or two with skill alone, even against pro players.
But against this person, she couldn’t see any chance to get a kill.
All she could do was ask Penelope for help.
“I’ll take a look first. Just going by your description, it doesn’t sound like anything special.”
As long as it wasn’t cheats, Penelope felt confident she could handle it.
“Oh~? Little Die is that strong now, huh? The confidence you have is just like your Young Lady.”
“Eh~, is that so? Actually, I’m still way behind compared to the Young Lady. Let’s just see first—if I can’t win, you can call the Young Lady.”
Penelope realized she’d said the wrong thing and hurried to deny it.
Just then, Su Mengdie was ready and called out to them.
“Come on!”
After giving her seat to Xia Shuashuai, the two stood on either side of the gaming chair, one left, one right.
As soon as she logged into her Account, a Duel Invitation popped up from someone called ‘Earth Goddess’.
“That’s her?”
Penelope blurted out, earning a couple of anxious glances from Su Mengdie.
“Yeah. Little Die, do you want to go in right away, or watch me play a round first?”
“Xia Miss is the guest, you go first. I’ll watch.”
Seeing Su Mengdie’s frantic winks at her, Penelope managed to hold back her eagerness for the moment.
“I think she’s got her eye on me. Ever since I met her yesterday, she keeps challenging me.”
“That’s not a bad thing—it means you’re strong. Strong players like playing with other strong players.”
Penelope was just that type of person.
But then, she spoke out of turn again.
“Little Die!”
Su Mengdie couldn’t help but shout at her.
“It’s fine, it’s fine, Little Die didn’t offend me. Relax, I’m about to start.”
Xia Shuashuai thought they were about to start fighting, so she quickly tried to smooth things over during the character selection phase.
To avoid disturbing Shuashuai, Penelope held it in.
But the look she shot at Su Mengdie was anything but friendly, as if to say, ‘Just you wait!’
Su Mengdie wasn’t about to back down, glaring right back.
She was in the right this time—what, the Young Lady can’t accept it?
Even if she can’t accept it, she’ll just have to bottle it up!
Tension crackled between the two, until Xia Shuashuai reminded them, “The match is starting.”
Just like Xia Shuashuai had said, the opponent’s operations were absolutely flawless.
In less than two minutes, Xia Shuashuai was killed three times.
“I give up! Little Die, it’s all yours, this is ridiculous…”
Getting wiped out three times in a row, Xia Shuashuai’s spirit was crushed.
“Little Die, you have to get my revenge!”
“I’ll try my best…”
After watching Xia Shuashuai’s match, even Penelope felt unsure.
But still… here goes nothing!
How would she know if she didn’t try?
And just like that, Penelope’s confidence was shattered by the opponent, just like Xia Shuashuai’s had been.
Staring at the huge ‘Defeat’ on the screen, Penelope looked utterly dejected.
Since she’d started playing this Game, she’d never been thrashed so hard—
Ten minutes, twenty straight losses.
Even Little Die couldn’t pull that off, right?
Just then, the opponent suddenly typed a string of words in the public chat.
‘No fun, I’m off.’
?!
Seeing that, Penelope couldn’t hold back anymore, and started cursing at the screen.
If Xia Shuashuai and Su Mengdie hadn’t been holding her back, she’d probably have smashed the monitor on the spot and vented her fury.
“Calm down, calm down… Little Die, let’s not stoop to her level. Next time she comes looking for us, we’ll have the Young Lady take revenge for us, okay?”
“Eh?!”
Su Mengdie froze.
What does this have to do with her now?
Neither Xia Shuashuai nor the Young Lady could beat her.
How was she, a loser with an eleven-game losing streak, supposed to do it?
Besides, the Game isn’t going anywhere, but people are alive.
If she comes to pick a fight, just ignore her—why bother making trouble for yourself?
Su Mengdie was about to talk some sense into Xia Shuashuai, when she noticed Penelope glaring at her sharply.
‘No way, does the Young Lady really think I can win?’
Whether she could or not, Penelope dangled an irresistible offer in front of her.
“Little Die, haven’t you always wanted that Necklace back? As long as you beat her, I’ll return the Necklace to you!”
It was a tempting offer, but…
She totally let that slip!
