After clearly seeing her own reflection in the other’s pupils, Xiaoxi shivered.
Not out of fear, but because the girl before her, draped in the Shenshi’s robe, gave her a sense of discordant harm.
Not only her eyes—even the girl’s long hair was nearly transparent.
A ray of light shone through a nearby window, refracting from her hair in a myriad of mirror-like, dazzling colors.
Xiaoxi guessed this must be the girl’s peculiar trait. Judging from this strange characteristic, could the girl before her be some kind of mutated freak?
“So the recent disappearances in Beihua City are the handiwork of your Divine Summon Order, aren’t they? Where are those kidnapped people?”
There was no reply.
Xiaoxi couldn’t even tell if the girl’s mirror-like, hollow eyes were focused on her. The girl before her stood there like an empty doll.
She’d originally planned to probe for information on the missing people first, but it seemed there was no way to communicate normally.
Since that was the case… she’d just have to act!
But just then, the girl suddenly raised her arm. Xiaoxi thought she was about to attack, but in the next instant, a glowing window beside her flickered, and Ye Xinglan appeared at Xiaoxi’s side.
“Xiaoxi!”
Ye Xinglan let out a breath of relief. Even though she’d been dragged into this baffling place, it was enough to see Xiaoxi was unharmed.
The girl before them still stood motionless like a doll. The two exchanged a look, but before they could do anything, a childlike voice rang out from the darkness behind the girl.
“What’s going on, Mirror? Didn’t I tell you to keep a low profile? Why’d you drag two people in this time?”
“Apologies, my lord. It wasn’t my intention. The one on the left noticed me, so I had no choice but to bring her in.”
Ye Xinglan trembled. Though she hadn’t seen the slowly approaching figure clearly, she would never mistake that voice.
“It’s you…”
Ye Xinglan gnashed her teeth. The Third Divine Envoy stepping out from the darkness looked a little surprised as well.
“Who would have thought? It’s actually the Saintess herself… and your new girlfriend, isn’t it? As expected, divine guidance brings us together again. You and the Divine Summon Order truly are bound by fate.”
The Third Divine Envoy wore an adorably childlike smile. Though she spoke to Ye Xinglan, her curious gaze wandered over Xiaoxi.
Mirror just said she’d been discovered by this Magic Girl? How was that possible?
They’d investigated the Saintess’s girlfriend—a newcomer who’d only just joined The Association.
Even The Association hadn’t detected Mirror’s magical fluctuations, so how could a rookie have noticed? Was it just coincidence?
“Divine Summon Order… what about the people you kidnapped?”
The Third Divine Envoy clearly didn’t see this unremarkable Magic Girl as worthy of attention, only chuckling lightly.
“Don’t worry, they’re all safe. Mirror just needed some practice for her ability. Compared to what you think the Divine Summon Order used to do, this barely counts as anything, does it?”
The Third Divine Envoy walked up to Mirror and patted her on the shoulder, standing on tiptoe.
“Saintess, let me introduce you—this is the [Abyss Witch of Deceit], Jingtong. She’s something of a junior to you. Go on, greet her, Mirror.”
Jingtong finally moved. She stiffly gathered up her Shenshi robe, lifting it like a skirt, and bowed to Ye Xinglan.
“Greetings, Saintess.”
Ye Xinglan’s face was clouded as she remained silent. Ever since entering this space, she’d sensed a faintly familiar feeling from the girl before her.
She couldn’t quite place what it was, but a strange intuition told her that this Jingtong was very similar to herself.
“Everyone says you’re the most perfect creation of the Divine Summon Order, Saintess,” the Third Divine Envoy sighed, “but now I don’t think that’s true.”
“What makes a perfect creation? The most important thing is absolute obedience. In this regard, Mirror surpasses you, Saintess.”
“A doll without a self—that is the most perfect creation.”
“That’s enough. Shut up!”
Xiaoxi snapped, abandoning her questions about the missing people and charging straight forward. She would shut this person up herself!
Ye Xinglan was obviously struck where it hurt, her tendrils trembling. Xiaoxi couldn’t bear to see Ye Xinglan tormented any further.
The advantage of the [Sirius] form was that it didn’t bother with flashy magic in a fight—a punch’s pain could only be known by the one who got hit… so it was fine to use a bit more force, right? No one would notice anyway!
“Mirror, get moving. It’s a good chance to test your recent progress.”
Only after the Third Divine Envoy gave the order did Jingtong begin to move. But Xiaoxi was faster. As soon as Jingtong raised her hand, Xiaoxi’s spiked gauntlets were already swinging at her.
A powerful fist wind rushed straight at Jingtong… but it didn’t hurt her in the slightest.
Xiaoxi threw several punches in succession, but her fists vanished before Jingtong’s body, with no sense of contact at all.
Xiaoxi paused, noticing only now that Jingtong was enveloped in an almost invisible Reflective Veil. All her attacks had passed straight through it!
Before Xiaoxi could strike again, two or three ornate, retro-framed Mirrors suddenly appeared around her, and gales of force from her own fists roared out from them!
A tentacle coiled around Xiaoxi’s waist, yanking her back at the critical moment. Both girls now saw clearly—all attacks aimed at Jingtong were being reflected back by the Mirrors?
“No problem. If we can’t hit her, then let’s kill the one beside her first…” Ye Xinglan had recovered, her eyes fierce as she stared daggers at the Third Divine Envoy. “Can I go now, Guardian?”
“Hoo… no problem. Attack as you like. I’ll make up any magic you lack afterwards.”
Xiaoxi knew that giving such a promise would probably leave her wrung dry later, but now was not the time to worry about that.
As Guardian, she was responsible for supervising Ye Xinglan’s actions, to keep her from harming bystanders. But in this isolated space, Ye Xinglan could unleash everything without worry.
She’d definitely have enough magic power afterwards, so… just fight!
“Alright!”
Ye Xinglan was fired up too. She glared viciously at the Third Divine Envoy: “This time I won’t let you get away again, you fake-loli old hag, prepare to die!”
The little rich girl had clearly learned another foul phrase from the internet.
Black sludge wrapped around her body, and before long, the blood-chilling Blood Moon Witch appeared, her Blood Scythe pointing straight at the Third Divine Envoy!
