Su Nuannuan was especially excited today. She got up as soon as dawn broke, deliberately choosing an outfit full of energy.
She wore a short-sleeved T-shirt printed with cartoon patterns, paired with denim shorts that revealed a pair of straight, fair legs. Her hair was tied into a neat ponytail that swayed with her movements. The whole look was like a ripe peach—vibrant and full of life.
When Lin Wei stepped out of her room in simple, comfortable casual wear, her eyes immediately landed on Su Nuannuan bouncing around in the living room.
She was radiating a clear signal: “Take me out to play!”
Lin Wei was momentarily stunned, her gaze lingering on that small face for a few seconds before awkwardly looking away.
Wearing something so short, and not worried about getting sunburned.
The two sisters quietly finished breakfast—though Su Nuannuan ate very quickly—and then boarded the car headed to the amusement park.
Along the way, Su Nuannuan leaned against the car window, watching the scenery blur past, a smile constantly tugging at her lips as her calves lightly bounced.
Lin Wei looked at her joyful expression and felt a bit amused, though also somewhat puzzled.
It’s just an amusement park. Is it really necessary to be this excited? She shook her head but couldn’t help being drawn in by the infectious enthusiasm shining from Su Nuannuan’s profile.
As soon as the car stopped, Su Nuannuan eagerly opened the door and immediately spotted Zhou Qianqian already at the entrance, waving excitedly at her.
“Nuannuan! Over here! Hurry, hurry!” Zhou Qianqian called out loudly, then noticed Lin Wei trailing behind Su Nuannuan.
A big question mark popped over Zhou Qianqian’s head. Lin Wei?
Su Nuannuan’s sister was really clingy!
Su Nuannuan quickly ran over, while Lin Wei followed at a leisurely pace, taking in this place filled with laughter and joy.
Zhou Qianqian grabbed Su Nuannuan’s hand and dashed toward the ticket gate: “Come on! The earlier we get in, the sooner we can play!”
Lin Wei silently followed behind.
Once inside the park, the deafening music, screams and laughter of people, and the sounds of various rides in motion filled the air.
Zhou Qianqian and Su Nuannuan instantly turned into curious little explorers, pointing at the roller coaster, pirate ship, and giant pendulum, chattering about which was the most thrilling and fun.
Lin Wei remained calm and composed, merely casting a casual glance around, her expression a mix of calm and wonder. After all, this was her first time at an amusement park.
“I want to ride that! The carousel!” Zhou Qianqian immediately picked out the lavishly decorated, dreamy carousel and pulled Su Nuannuan over to line up.
The line wasn’t long, and they were soon at the front. Su Nuannuan happily stepped forward but suddenly remembered something, turning to look back and noticed Lin Wei standing outside the queue with her arms crossed, looking like a bystander.
“Sis, aren’t you going to ride?” Su Nuannuan blinked and asked.
Lin Wei shook her head coolly, her face clearly saying: This childish stuff isn’t for me.
Zhou Qianqian frowned and muttered in her heart, “What a spoilsport sister!”
Without a word, she grabbed Lin Wei’s hand and pulled her into the queue!
“Hey!” Lin Wei was caught off guard, nearly losing her balance, her face full of surprise and irritation.
But Zhou Qianqian didn’t care and was already leading Su Nuannuan to climb onto a beautiful white horse.
Looking at the brightly colored, up-and-down rocking horses, Lin Wei twitched the corner of her mouth. Still, she forced a stern expression and reluctantly chose the calmest-looking black steed, clutching the pole tightly with stiff posture.
The music started, and the carousel began to spin and rise.
Zhou Qianqian and Su Nuannuan laughed joyfully, taking pictures of each other, while Lin Wei crossed her arms, expressionless, staring at the horse heads bobbing up and down. Inside, she was silently ridiculing the whole childish scene.
After getting off the carousel, Zhou Qianqian excitedly dragged Su Nuannuan over to a nearby ice cream cart. “It’s so hot! Let’s get ice cream!”
Lin Wei still followed silently behind.
They bought three cones—Zhou Qianqian took one and handed two to Su Nuannuan.
Su Nuannuan naturally passed one to Lin Wei. “Sis, here, this is for you.”
Lin Wei glanced at the frosty cone but shook her head out of habit. “No thanks, I don’t eat snacks.”
She was always strict with her diet.
Su Nuannuan held up the rejected ice cream with a slight pout, her eyes dimming a little.
Zhou Qianqian glanced at Su Nuannuan, then at Lin Wei’s “don’t touch me” expression.
What are you doing!
Her eyes flicked, and suddenly she snatched the ice cream from Su Nuannuan’s hand and stuffed it directly into Lin Wei’s mouth!
Lin Wei: “!!!”
Su Nuannuan stared in surprise, while Zhou Qianqian gave her a triumphant grin.
The cold and sweetness filled Lin Wei’s mouth instantly. She blinked wide-eyed, looking at Zhou Qianqian’s mischievous smile.
“Just try it! You have to be happy when you’re out having fun!” Zhou Qianqian said cheerfully.
Lin Wei hesitated for two seconds, looked at Zhou Qianqian’s determined eyes, then glanced at Su Nuannuan’s slightly hopeful expression beside her. On impulse, she lowered her head slightly and licked the ice cream.
Hmm… not bad? She silently took small bites.
“Wow! The Ferris wheel!” At that moment, Zhou Qianqian pointed excitedly at the huge Ferris wheel in the distance.
“But… it’s so high,” Su Nuannuan said nervously; she was a little afraid of heights.
Zhou Qianqian grinned and glanced between Lin Wei and Su Nuannuan. “No worries! Come on! The Ferris wheel is a must at an amusement park!”
So the three queued up and boarded a cabin. Su Nuannuan and Zhou Qianqian naturally sat together, while Lin Wei sat opposite them.
The Ferris wheel slowly climbed higher, the scenery below growing smaller. Su Nuannuan was a bit scared of the height but couldn’t help looking around curiously, her small hand tightly gripping Zhou Qianqian’s arm.
Zhou Qianqian excitedly pointed at the houses and streets shrinking in the distance as they laughed and teased each other.
Lin Wei didn’t look at the view. Her gaze unconsciously settled on the two girls sitting closely opposite her, laughing and playing. She noticed how Zhou Qianqian was almost hanging on Su Nuannuan, then glanced at the empty seat beside her.
Her eyes slowly moved upward until they landed on Su Nuannuan’s face—a mix of excitement and slight fear—vivid and lively.
The cabin rose slowly. Lin Wei held the half-eaten ice cream, watching the scene before her, momentarily lost in thought.
Zhou Qianqian noticed Lin Wei sitting alone, staring out the window but clearly distracted, and inwardly thought, Adults are such a hassle.
Her eyes flicked, and she suddenly pointed dramatically out the window diagonally ahead. “Nuannuan, look over there! What’s that?!”
Su Nuannuan, leaning against Zhou Qianqian and looking around curiously, immediately turned her head toward the pointed direction, her small face full of confusion.
“Hm? What is it, Qianqian?”
Zhou Qianqian’s expression grew serious as she waved her hand. “Ah, your angle here is wrong! You can’t see it! You have to go over there.”
She pointed to the empty seat next to Lin Wei. “Right, sit by your sister. That angle will definitely let you see it clearly!”
Su Nuannuan took her words at face value and didn’t think twice. She obediently got up and moved to Lin Wei’s seat.
The cabin rocked slightly with her movement.
Lin Wei was snapped back to reality by Su Nuannuan’s sudden closeness. Before she could react, she felt the seat beside her sink…
Su Nuannuan, carrying a faint fragrance, had already knelt on the seat next to her. To get a better look outside, her petite body leaned against the window.
As Su Nuannuan adjusted her position, her smooth, fair calf lightly brushed against Lin Wei’s hand resting on her lap.
That fleeting touch, delicate and cool, sent a jolt through Lin Wei’s skin, making her heart skip a beat. She instinctively pulled her hand back quickly and hid it at her side, her body stiffening.
Su Nuannuan didn’t notice Lin Wei’s reaction at all. She was carefully pressing against the glass, her face nearly touching the window as she strained to look in the direction Zhou Qianqian had pointed, blinking her large eyes earnestly.
But after looking for a long time, all she saw outside were houses growing smaller and hazy mountains in the distance—nothing else.
She felt a little disappointed, pulled back, and sat properly, her lips pouting as she turned to Zhou Qianqian.
“There’s nothing there… Qianqian, what exactly did you want me to see?”
Zhou Qianqian couldn’t hold back any longer. She covered her stomach and burst into laughter.
“Hahaha, Nuannuan, you’re way too gullible! You actually believed whatever I pointed at! Hahaha!”
Su Nuannuan finally realized she had been tricked again. Her little face fell, and she pouted in grievance.
“Qianqian! You tricked me again! You’re mean!”
Meanwhile, Lin Wei’s expression was oddly complicated.
Zhou Qianqian’s laughter made her feel… subtly embarrassed, as if she’d been seen through.
Her hand still tingled faintly with heat.
She turned her head slightly, avoiding Su Nuannuan’s gaze, her eyes drifting toward the window on the other side.
