When the doorbell rang, Xiaoxi thought it was Ye Xinglan’s latest online order arriving again.
Ever since they’d moved to the new place, the little rich lady had been spending money like water, buying a whole pile of new things, resulting in a constant stream of deliverymen over the past few days.
Ye Xinglan hurriedly tucked away all her tentacles, but when they opened the door, the person outside was an unexpected visitor.
“Muxingge… Senior? What brings you…”
Xiaoxi jumped in fright, never expecting Muxingge to show up at her door.
Now she was actually glad their old place had been blown up—if Muxingge dug up anything from there, things could get really bad.
Both Xiao Ke and Ye Xinglan had dug up things in her room they weren’t supposed to see before; with them, Xiaoxi could still tell a few lies to muddle through.
But if it was Muxingge, who knew Eternal Star so well, she’d be exposed in no time!
“Of course I came to visit my adorable juniors—good afternoon, Miss Ye Xinglan. We’ve met before.” Muxingge winked playfully.
Ye Xinglan nodded cautiously.
This was her first meeting with a former enemy since her identity was revealed, but Muxingge’s attitude seemed unexpectedly friendly.
Xiaoxi stepped aside to let her in, thinking Muxingge must have been sent by The Association to check up on the Blood Moon Witch.
But Muxingge didn’t seem to intend on coming in at all.
“By the way, Sirius, I’ve noticed your recent novel chapters are quite lively. Did you adapt them from stories Ali told you?”
Xiaoxi stiffened. She’d thought that after her exposure, Muxingge would stop reading her silly self-indulgent webfics, but it turned out the other woman had kept following them—even knowing the latest wild content she’d been posting.
“Haha, of course not, Senior Muxingge,” Xiaoxi forced a laugh,
“Eternal Star Senior actually cares a lot about you and the rest of the team; she wouldn’t just reveal your stories. I had to pester her for ages before she finally told me a little bit.”
“After you scolded me last time, I really reflected on myself. Now, everything I write is completely made up! Besides, didn’t you say—”
“I did say that was the end of it, and I wouldn’t bother you again about it, right?” Muxingge grinned, giving Xiaoxi’s shoulder a hearty pat.
“Of course! After all, you’re my junior. I’m not going to fuss with my dear junior over something so minor.”
Xiaoxi laughed awkwardly as well, finally letting herself relax.
But the next second, Muxingge put both hands on her shoulders, leaned in with a carnivorous glint in her eyes, and spoke each word in a low tone only the two of them could hear.
“If my dear junior writes it, I won’t mind. But if it’s written by my dear teammate… well, that’s another matter entirely—isn’t that right, A-Xing?”
“And you call this caring about your former teammate? Is this how you show you care, huh?”
“Uh… ah, ahh! How did you figure it out…”
All the blood in Xiaoxi’s body froze. The sudden reversal made her even forget to keep bluffing.
“How did I figure it out? When you risked your life to save your little girlfriend on Southern Avenue, used up all your magic power, and passed out—I’m the one who dragged you two back to The Association, you know!”
“Honestly, it was the first time I’d ever seen the great [Eternal Star] forced to de-transform due to magical exhaustion. Too bad someone seems to have forgotten to thank me for it, huh?”
“I figured after such a dramatic event, you’d need a few days to recover, so I waited before coming to find you… and what do you do? You spend those days at home, churning out that kind of writing!”
The more Muxingge spoke, the brighter her smile became. Xiaoxi was sweating cold.
She’d have written much less outrageous things if she’d known Muxingge already knew her true identity!
No, wait, this was all Ye Xinglan’s fault—if she hadn’t tormented her for inspiration these past days, how could she have written so much smutty garbage?
“Xiaoxi, don’t just stand in the doorway talking—invite our guest inside.”
Ye Xinglan was rather polite. Though wary of Muxingge, she didn’t intend to leave her outside.
Muxingge, who’d just been whispering menacingly to Xiaoxi, immediately withdrew her killing intent and waved at Ye Xinglan with a smile.
“No need to invite me in. But I do need to borrow Xiaoxi for a while. There’s some Association work to handle.”
Now Xiaoxi understood why Muxingge never planned to come in—she wasn’t here to visit, she was here for revenge!
“Xinglan, you have to eat your meals on time and take care of yourself while you’re home alone, all right?”
Xiaoxi, heart heavy with dread, was already making her last will and testament.
“What’s with you? It’s just some work, but you sound like you’re never coming back…” Ye Xinglan looked up, worried.
“Is it something hard to deal with? Should I help?”
“It’s nothing, Miss Ye Xinglan. Not a big deal. I’ll try to have Xiaoxi back before dinner.”
Muxingge’s hand remained on Xiaoxi’s shoulder.
Xiaoxi was as powerless as a kitten gripped by the scruff, dragged along as Muxingge led her away.
Muxingge donned a mask and sunglasses, looking for all the world like a kidnapper.
She didn’t say another word until she’d “abducted” Xiaoxi back to her own home.
Muxingge lived in the villa district of Summersea City.
Xiaoxi knew she was a famous idol, but seeing the three-story detached villa still made her eyes widen.
But even though there were plenty of rooms inside, most showed no signs of life—it all felt a little empty.
Muxingge lived alone, so only a few rooms bore any traces of use.
“I’d thought, since the Southern Avenue residential area was destroyed, that if you didn’t have anywhere to stay, you could come crash here. But you told me you and your little girlfriend found a place, so I didn’t bother you.”
“Look at that—such touching camaraderie and mutual support among teammates! My wonderful teammate must be a person of deep loyalty, right?”
Muxingge took off her mask and sunglasses, her words stabbing straight at Xiaoxi’s conscience.
“So my good teammate not only writes fics about me behind my back, but also hides her identity and pretends to be a newbie Magic Girl under my command for so long—yet refuses to reunite with her old teammate after all these years. Don’t you think that’s going too far, Sirius?”
Xiaoxi swallowed. “I was wrong, sis, I really know I was wrong…”
Xiaoxi knew her old teammate’s temper too well.
When Muxingge started rambling on and on with that gentle smile, Xiaoxi knew… Muxingge’s current smile was as red as…
