“How did you end up in such a sorry state? Eh? I clearly sensed a familiar aura, but you don’t seem to be the one I’m looking for.”
If there was one phrase to describe Su Yao’s current mood, it would be — what the hell!
It was true in every sense of the word.
First, she had been poked and prodded by a Treant all the way here.
Just as they reached the shore, Fulin cast the magic “Water Walking,” but then that girl suddenly acted up, grabbing the vine around Su Yao’s neck and leading her all the way to the center of the lake like a pet.
In this humiliating state, she finally met “The Great Person” Fulin had mentioned — an “Undead.” No, a winged “Lizard Undead.”
And then the creature actually had the nerve to say it had recognized the wrong person…
What in the world was going on!
“I did say to keep her here at all costs, but Fulin, a weakling who can be trapped by ‘Magic Vines’ can’t possibly be the person I’m looking for.”
Hearing the words of this Lizard Undead, a cross-shaped vein pulsed on the side of the blonde loli’s forehead.
Meanwhile, the silver-haired Fairy floated awkwardly in place, occasionally stealing glances behind her.
“Since I’m not the person you’re looking for, could you please release me now? I’ve been missing for one day and one night; someone at home will be worried.”
Su Yao put on the most brilliant smile she had ever shown, squinting her eyes as she made a polite request.
Fulin, however, felt as if she were sitting on needles. The loli behind her was radiating a bone-chilling “killing intent.” If looks could kill a Fairy, she would probably be dead by now.
It made sense. After being kidnapped for no clear reason and then “stored” for an entire night, being told so nonchalantly that they had the “wrong person” was enough to infuriate anyone…
“Lady Fu Na? Could you take a closer look?”
Fulin couldn’t let this loli go no matter what. It would be best if her “teacher” hadn’t made a mistake.
If all else failed, she would just leave the task of releasing her to the other Fairies in the tribe…
Yes, that was the plan!
“Now that you mention it, there does seem to be something familiar. Brat, what is your relationship with that irresponsible ‘Goddess’?”
Setting aside the “brat” comment for a moment, what relationship could she possibly have with some “Goddess”?
“I don’t understand what you’re talking about. My name is Su Yao. I was born from a nearby Dungeon. I don’t know any ‘Goddess’ at all.”
“Wait a minute. You said you were ‘born’ from a Dungeon? Fulin, is what she’s saying true?”
‘Damn it, I couldn’t fool them.’ Who would have thought this Lizard Undead would be interested in the word “Dungeon”?
Now she could only pin her hopes on that Fairy. She better not say anything unnecessary…
“Her situation is very strange. The memories in her mind are numerous and disorganized, and they seem to be protected by some strange magic. I can only see her memories from the past seven days at most.”
‘Phew, for whatever reason, it looks like I’m saved…’
“However, she seems to have some strange abilities, like summoning ‘Monsters’ or setting up ‘rewards’ inside a Dungeon.”
‘This girl!’ Even though Su Yao had just decided not to spank the Fairy’s butt, Fulin had turned around and sold out her abilities!
‘I’ll remember this grudge!’
“Brat, is what Fulin said true?”
“…Yes.”
After hesitating for a moment, Su Yao chose to tell the truth.
She had originally planned to lie, but the excited look on the Lizard Undead’s face just now clearly carried a certain hope.
An Undead creature usually wouldn’t manifest a physical form unless it had a powerful obsession.
Moreover, the opponent clearly wasn’t some “evil spirit.” If a bit of help within her power could resolve its “obsession,” it wouldn’t hurt to lend a hand…
“Fulin, untie her.”
“But… alright.”
Following the Lizard Undead’s command, Fulin reluctantly flew into the sky. Her butterfly wings flapped, scattering a shower of golden light.
The green vines that had bound Su Yao all night finally unraveled and fell into the lake.
Once the silver-haired Fairy flew up, she didn’t dare come back down. It looked like Su Yao wouldn’t be able to spank her anytime soon.
“Please don’t hold it against these Fairies. They’re just a bit mischievous. I can tell that Fulin likes you very much. Treating you this way was entirely my fault for misidentifying you.”
‘Hmph, since this Lizard Undead is so sensible, I’ll let it slide for a moment.’
As for whether to forgive her, that would have to wait until she got her hands on that sword named “Durandal.”
“Speak then. What is your ‘obsession’? Do you need my help?”
Su Yao asked the Lizard Undead while stretching her numb limbs. Judging by the creature’s reaction earlier, it had already confirmed that she was the one who could help.
To be honest, Su Yao didn’t even know how her “Dungeon” abilities could help it. If it was summoning a “Golem” for it to possess…
Well, that sort of thing was possible.
“You’re quite clever. However, I have only heard of ‘Dungeons’ before. I always thought they were just a friend’s fantasy. As for your ability, it indeed belongs to a portion of a ‘God’s’ authority, though my friend referred to it as the ‘Ley Line’.”
“The ‘Ley Line’?”
Hearing this familiar yet foreign term come out of its mouth made Su Yao feel incredulous.
Based on what she knew of the Ley Lines in a certain game, they did indeed have the ability to drop rewards and refresh monsters.
But their essence was to record all information and act as a gathering point for energy within that game world.
‘Wait a minute… that means things like “Domain Instances” also have some similarities to Dungeons.’
Could it be that this world was inside a game?
No, there were too many differences. It was very likely just a coincidence. What was truly strange was the Lizard Undead’s friend. How did she know about “Ley Lines”…
“That’s right, the ‘Ley Line.’ Her observational skills were exceptional. All ‘memories’ and ‘energy’ in this world normally gather into the ‘Ley Line,’ and an overly powerful ‘Ley Line’ also possesses the ability to influence the physical world.”
‘Uh, it feels like this world plagiarized that game…’
Did this creature mean that the “Dungeon Core” was actually a “Ley Line”? She didn’t feel like she was as incredible as it described.
Furthermore, how could things like the “System Mall,” “Panel,” and “Warehouse” be explained?
…She was completely at a loss.
“Anyway, you’re trying to say that I’m something like a ‘Ley Line,’ right? But what does that have to do with your ‘obsession’?”
“No, you might not be a ‘Ley Line,’ or rather, you are an incomplete ‘Ley Line.’ But none of that matters, as long as you have the ability to ‘preserve memories’ and ‘collect energy’.”
The more they spoke, the more confused she became. An “incomplete Ley Line”? Then how could the “System” be explained…
Could it be that this so-called “System” was something she created herself by influencing the physical world through the power of the “Ley Line”?
That didn’t seem right either. The “System” existed even before she gained consciousness. If she had to say, it was like “low-level code” created by someone else.
In other words… was she created by “someone”?
‘Are you kidding me?’
But could she prove that she really used to be that human named “Su Yao”? All her memories of her past life seemed so blurry…
“Brat! Brat!”
Fortunately, the Lizard Undead in front of her interrupted her thoughts. Those reflections just now were simply too spine-chilling.
“What’s wrong?”
“I am asking you to go to the bottom of the lake and take away my ‘memory’ and ‘energy’ — which is to say, my ‘soul’.”
