At this moment, the chat module among the Survivors had exploded with activity,
everyone was frantically discussing the matter.
Some Survivors had been looking forward to the island landing since their very first day here,
so the announcement naturally excited them immensely.
“Hahaha, finally no more compressed biscuits! Six packs of compressed biscuits over three days—do you know how I survived those three days?”
“There must be wild game on the island, finally we can eat meat.”
“Everyone, we’re all on the same channel. If we meet on the same island, how about we team up?”
“That’s a good proposal. Just because the danger level is low doesn’t mean there’s no risk. Teaming up can increase survival chances!”
“I’m Aido—I can sing, dance, rap. Can someone give me a bottle of water?”
“Shabo Yi, go to hell!”
“Team up? That sounds like an incredibly stupid idea.”
An Ling watched the Survivors’ chat and thought they were all thinking too simply.
In this unfamiliar place, recklessly forming teams with strangers was not a wise choice;
there was no trust between two people, and betrayal could happen at any moment.
But just as An Ling had guessed before, there really were those lazy ones who did nothing for three days just waiting for the island landing.
She didn’t even know what to say about that.
Standing up, An Ling picked up her Backpack and started packing supplies.
Click-click!
The magazine slid into the handgun with a satisfying metallic click. As a guy, who wouldn’t be familiar with a handgun?
An Ling could use this thing with her eyes closed, though she didn’t know how strong the recoil was.
This was a must-bring; it was the only thing she could rely on to save her life.
The pink exterior, however, didn’t seem to warn any potential scumbags.
An Ling knew well that she was a girl—and a pretty one at that—in this lawless land, any one of the people she met might have ill intentions, so she had to protect herself.
Aside from that, there was food. She might have to stay on this island for ten days, so she had to bring all her food to prepare for the worst.
“Food, water, lighter, weapons, axe, pickaxe… what else?”
By the firelight, An Ling scanned the wooden hut to see if she had missed anything.
“Wait, I’m not really going to need this for ten days, am I?”
She didn’t know the exact length of time either, but no matter—better safe than sorry. She even packed her Socks.
“Now I’m truly prepared for anything.”
An Ling placed her Backpack beside the bed to make sure she wouldn’t forget it when she woke up tomorrow.
It was time to deal with her dinner. She took out her Bowl and Chopsticks, placed them on the table, gave the Iron Pot a quick rinse with Freshwater, filled it with water, and set it on the iron stove before covering it with the lid.
Tonight, she would finally eat a warm meal.
Soon, the water in the Iron Pot boiled, bubbling noisily. An Ling opened a cup of instant noodles, poured in the boiling water, and added a sausage.
She took out a steamed bun, wrapped it with spicy sauce, and just as the noodles were ready, she sat down and eagerly slurped a mouthful.
“Phew, it’s so hot!”
At this moment, An Ling had never found instant noodles so delicious. The whole hot cup of noodles disappeared quickly, not even leaving the broth behind.
She finished all the food and leaned back in her chair, patting her stomach contentedly.
“So good. This is the first warm food I’ve had in three days.”
An Ling felt her mood, suppressed over the past three days, lighten.
Buzz!
Leaning back, she suddenly felt a faint vibration on her right hand. Opening the light screen, it was Survivor 37 sending her a message again.
Survivor 37: “Brother, if we’re on the same island tomorrow, can I team up with you…?”
An Ling wanted to brush it off casually—after all, there were a hundred thousand people on the same channel, and only a few hundred would be on any island. The odds of meeting were slim.
But the next sentence from him suddenly resonated with her.
Survivor 37: “Brother, I’ve been weak and sickly since I was a kid. My physical condition is poor. I don’t think I can make it on the island… You’ve been the one I talk to the most these days, and you’ve been so good to me…”
Because An Ling had been the same when she was a boy—terrible at physical activities, worse than even some girls.
Survivor 520: “A real man can’t say he can’t do it. You can, definitely can. If by chance we meet, I’ll team up with you for sure.”
Survivor 37: “Thank you, brother!”
Survivor 520: “By the way, what’s your name?”
Survivor 37: “Chen Rui…”
Survivor 520: “I’m An Ling.”
Closing the chat window, even if they didn’t meet on the island tomorrow, An Ling decided to help him within her means in the future.
He wasn’t really the problem; it was his low self-esteem, always self-doubting and lacking confidence. An Ling had been the same before.
For some reason, after becoming a girl, she felt her mindset had changed. At least, those flaws were gone.
After this small interlude, An Ling washed up simply. With limited resources, as long as it wasn’t too dirty, the cleanliness level dropped slowly.
But as the days went by, if she couldn’t shower, the decline would only accelerate.
Having done all this, she finally lay down, satisfied, ready to sleep.
Lost in thought, An Ling was pondering how the Survivors would make their island landing when she gradually slipped into dreams.
“Coo coo!”
“Coo coo coo coo!”
Bird calls echoed all around, as if resonating through a forest. Groggily, An Ling felt like she had returned to her original world.
Because these birds couldn’t possibly exist out at sea.
Rubbing her sore eyes, she thought she had just woken from a dream.
The sky was dim, just dawn breaking. Around her were wild grasses, and not far off stood a gloomy forest—the source of the bird calls.
Turning her head, An Ling saw her Backpack. It was all real after all.
Without realizing it, she had arrived on this island. The view stretched endlessly; it didn’t look like an island at all.
“So, I really am here.”
An Ling stood and stretched her body. She had thought the system would have some grand island-landing ceremony, but instead, it was a forced teleportation.
Just then, the ring on her right middle finger suddenly popped up the light screen again.
