A few days later, inside the camp where the Temple Knights were stationed.
Liamy was helping the other Holy Knights carry the ancient documents found in the “Iyuu” labyrinth into a large tent.
Liamy was very familiar with this tent; it was originally the place where the Temple Knights held their meetings together, and also the tent where Corin had first met the gender-swapped Temple Knights.
Now, however, this tent had become the storage for all the ancient documents, as well as Syphne’s makeshift research institute for translation—even if only temporarily.
Due to limited time and other factors, Syphne chose to study the ancient documents on the spot instead of bringing them back.
Although taking them back wouldn’t have taken much time, they really were a bit short on time right now.
After all, their vacation had ended several days ago. The only reason they could still stay here was because the kingdom had not yet given them any new urgent incidents to handle.
It seemed that the efforts of the Special Incident Response Squad had not been in vain—urgent incidents in the kingdom had indeed decreased a lot.
Even those like them, who used to be constantly busy with all kinds of events, were not receiving tasks as soon as they came in anymore.
Even so, Syphne decided to conduct her research here, because no one knew when the kingdom might assign them a task. Better to save any time they could.
Once they had moved all the ancient documents found today inside, Liamy wiped the sweat from her forehead and began to wander idly around the tent.
Although there were many newly found ancient documents in the tent, Liamy couldn’t understand any of them. So, after glancing around a few times and sighing, “There’s so many!”, she went off to find Syphne.
As for why they were able to find so many ancient documents in just a few days—there was a reason for that as well.
That day, after they found the Blossoming Stone Beads, they used them immediately, bringing everyone back to the camp. After resting for a night, they re-entered the “Iyuu” labyrinth to see what changes had occurred since the events of the day before.
But when they did, they discovered something unbelievable. The “Iyuu” labyrinth was deathly silent, not a single shadow in sight. The “Bronze” armored figures who usually came out to block them were completely absent this time.
Let alone those strange human shapes with iron cage-like helmets or the beautiful masked witches. The dangerous labyrinth seemed to have instantly become a safe museum. Liamy and the Holy Knights passed through without obstruction, encountering no danger at all.
Even some of the rooms that had deadly traps before were now utterly ordinary. Even trying to set off the traps didn’t work—the ones in those rooms seemed to have long since become inert.
What was even stranger was that rooms that had been empty before now suddenly contained things they had never seen before. For example, the ancient documents Liamy had just brought out were moved from a room she and Corin had once passed, which used to be completely empty.
The place with the most ancient documents was that vast empty hall where Liamy and the others had first been transported in.
When they first entered, it had been empty, but after that incident, when they went to look again, there were rows of wooden shelves for storing books, stuffed full of all sorts of ancient documents.
This was all so bizarre, but Liamy and the others didn’t have time to figure out why. The urgent task at hand was to quickly find a way to turn Liamy back before the next high-risk incident arrived.
Thus, things had ended up like they were now. For these few days, they had been moving all sorts of potentially useful things out of the labyrinth without any hindrance.
Liamy had been going back and forth between the labyrinth and the camp, helping the Holy Knights transport the ancient documents and other items found in the “Iyuu” labyrinth.
Corin, meanwhile, was with Captain Larian and a small group of Holy Knights, delving deep into the labyrinth to find out why things had changed so drastically, with Eleanora among them.
As for Lavinia, she was originally helping Liamy move ancient documents from the labyrinth, but since Lavinia kept slacking off, the entire transport team eventually agreed to send her to logistics.
But because Lavinia’s cooking skills left much to be desired, she ended up responsible solely for acquiring food. Honestly, Liamy thought this job actually suited her quite well.
As for Syphne, needless to say, she was frantically researching the ancient documents.
Just like now. Liamy walked over to Syphne, who was buried in the documents, and watching her struggle with strings of symbols Liamy couldn’t decipher, she could only marvel at Syphne’s abilities.
She could actually understand these incomprehensible markings, and she was so persistent about it, too. If it were Liamy, even if she could read them, she could never stare at documents for so long.
Sometimes Liamy was really curious—just what kind of education had Syphne received to be able to do all this? What was her family background, anyway?
Unfortunately, Syphne never talked about these things, and Corin, out of respect for privacy, hadn’t asked in detail either. So although Syphne was remarkable, her background was still a huge mystery in Liamy’s eyes.
Of course, no matter how dramatic Syphne’s past was, she was a member of Corin’s squad, and one of Liamy’s few friends. That would never change. Liamy believed this firmly.
Syphne, frustrated by the documents before her, also noticed Liamy. She turned to look at Liamy with an utterly exhausted expression, her bloodshot eyes and an aura as if she was about to leave this world scaring Liamy half to death.
“…Is there something you need?”
Syphne’s languid voice drifted over, pulling Liamy out of her surprise.
“Uh, nothing much, just… wanted to check in on you. So, how is it? Isn’t translating all these ancient documents exhausting?”
Hearing Liamy’s innocent question, Syphne couldn’t help but let out a laugh of exasperation.
“Exhausting? What do you think? Just look at these blood-red eyes—do you think I’m tired? Let me tell you, I haven’t shut my eyes since yesterday. Even if the Hero himself lay down beside me right now, I could still fall asleep without hesitation! And you, you come waltzing over and ask me if I’m tired? What do you think! Why do you think I’m like this? You still don’t know?!”
After silently bearing Syphne’s outburst, Liamy glanced carefully at her. Seeing that Syphne seemed to have calmed down a bit, she whispered, “Uh, in that case, I won’t bother you anymore. I’ll go help carry more ancient documents!”
But just as Liamy was about to leave, Syphne suddenly called out to her.
“Wait! Go fetch a few Holy Knights for me. There’s something I want to try.”
