This was a weapon the same length as a spear, but unlike a spear with a sharp tip, the Saw-Spear’s end was a massive circular saw blade.
Lucas had heard of such a weapon before, but today was the first time he had seen one in person.
For some reason, just seeing it made him feel an instant connection, and he was determined to choose this weapon.
He reached out to touch the circular saw blade.
“Don’t touch that!”
Ivina’s reflexes were quick as she grabbed Lucas’s hand.
“The saw blade is very sharp; you’ll cut yourself if you’re careless.”
“This is the one. I want this.”
The moment Lucas gripped the Saw-Spear, an image of how to use it flashed in his mind.
After a quick mental run-through, he found the weapon surprisingly difficult to wield.
“Are you sure? This weapon is probably the hardest to use of all types.”
“Yes, this one. I’m sure.”
Lucas held the Saw-Spear with both hands and gave it a small swing.
The saw blade’s end was heavy, and he had to exert force with both hands just to control it.
At the end of the long handle was a delicate mechanism.
Lucas pulled the trigger, and the saw blade emitted a low hum as it began spinning at high speed.
Combined with the sharp teeth, Lucas had no doubt this weapon could easily cut through most metals—even Serfi’s metallic body from a few days ago wouldn’t be an exception.
As for the limits of this weapon, that would have to be tested in future battles.
When the blade’s spinning stopped, Lucas pressed the joint mechanism, and the long Saw-Spear split into two parts.
The saw blade transformed slightly, becoming a circular shield with saw teeth along the edge.
The long handle contracted into a short sword.
“Looks like you know how to use it, so I don’t need to teach you anymore,” Ivina said, gently patting Lucas’s shoulder.
“This weapon can switch flexibly between close-range and mid-range combat. Use it wisely. Oh, and I have one more weapon to give you.”
Ivina led Lucas to another warehouse.
When the door opened, Lucas couldn’t help but exclaim.
No wonder this is the Royal Capital Knights—such weapons exist here.
Ivina picked up a firearm nearly as long as Lucas’s arm and held it out in front of him.
“This is a specially produced firearm from the Royal Capital. It can load five iron shot bullets at once, and every member of the Royal Capital Knights carries one.”
Lucas had seen firearms once or twice before and understood their lethal power at mid to close range.
But those firearms were nowhere near as refined as the one Ivina held; those could only load one bullet at a time, requiring tedious reloading after every shot.
In battle, wasting time on reloading was deadly.
Loading five shots at once made all the difference in tolerance for error.
“How about it? Know how to use it?”
“Yes, I can handle this weapon.”
Taking the gun from Ivina, Lucas strapped it together with the Saw-Spear on his back.
Honestly, it was quite heavy.
If he hadn’t done plenty of manual labor before, plus the blessing of the Divine Authority, he might not have been able to carry such weight.
“Well, that’s enough for today. I’ve arranged a place for you and Lyria to stay. Here’s the key.”
Ivina handed Lucas a copper key.
“Rest well these next few days and get familiar with the Royal Capital. If anything comes up, I’ll contact you.”
“Thank you very much.”
After searching for quite some time with Lyria in the capital, they finally found the residence Ivina had arranged for them.
According to Ivina, this address would be their new home.
Standing before the grand house, Lucas and Lyria were speechless.
This house was located in a residential district near the border between the mid-level commercial area and the upper palace district, with convenient transportation and all kinds of shops.
It was one of the best locations in the Royal Capital.
A house like this was a once-in-a-lifetime find.
And Ivina had just given them a place like this.
Does Ivina really have this much money?
“Is it okay for us to live here?”
Lyria asked timidly.
Lucas took out the key Ivina had given him and tried it on the door’s keyhole. It fit perfectly.
“So this house really was a gift from Ivina,” Lucas said without hesitation as he walked in and turned on the lights inside.
“Come on, don’t hesitate—come in.”
Strangely, although Ivina had only arranged this place today, the furniture was fully stocked and spotless, as if someone had cleaned it thoroughly not long ago.
And the house was a bit too big.
For Lucas and Lyria to live here felt almost empty.
Such a large house had only one bed, and it was a double bed at that.
From every angle, this was unusual.
“To live in such a nice place… am I dreaming?”
Lyria couldn’t help but sigh.
Lucas pinched his arm to confirm he wasn’t dreaming.
No doubt Ivina was going all out to keep him.
Could she be giving them her own house?
He didn’t understand it at all.
Not thinking too much about it, after a long journey and a mostly idle afternoon, Lucas just wanted a hot bath and some rest.
Tomorrow, he planned to explore the Royal Capital with Lyria.
Plus, there was a place he had to go according to the documents Ivina had given him.
After bathing, Lucas and Lyria lay together in the same bed.
It wasn’t their first time sharing a bed.
Back in the border village, they often squeezed into the same small hut and shared a bed at night—it was nothing unusual.
“If we live here…”
Lyria shifted closer to Lucas, “we probably won’t have to worry anymore.”
“Worry about what?”
“Leaks or drafts,” Lyria said, gently holding Lucas’s hand.
“Back in the border, whenever it rained or during winter, it was a nightmare.”
“Yeah, we don’t have to worry about that now.”
And there was no longer any need to fear enemy invasions.
For now, Lucas was very satisfied with his current situation.
If Ivina could provide a place like this, helping her with some tasks wasn’t a problem.
“Lucas, do you have to start working tomorrow?”
Lyria’s grip tightened, as if afraid Lucas would disappear by morning.
“No, not yet. Tomorrow, I’ll still be with you.”
“That’s good. By the way, Ivina lent us some money. Let’s use it to buy some things.”
“Hm? How much?”
“Ten thousand gold coins.”
Lucas nearly jumped out of bed.
Ten thousand gold coins?
When he had struggled to support himself and Lyria, working hard for a whole month only earned fifty gold coins—just barely enough to survive.
Was Ivina really that generous?
Was she essentially hiring him outright with money?
But no matter what, since she was showing such sincerity, he couldn’t go back on his promise.
He’d find time later to ask Ivina at the Knights about that organization called the Eight Sins.
