Inside the Infirmary of Saint Diasys Magic Academy.
Aetin sat on the white bed, watching as the Medical Instructor’s palm, glowing with green light, gently brushed over the burn on his arm.
Where the magical light touched, the skin visibly healed at a rapid pace, leaving no trace behind.
Aetin silently marveled at the healing efficiency in this magical world.
Back in his original world, burns like this would have taken at least a month to heal.
“Thank you, Instructor.”
Aetin moved his just-healed arm, now as smooth as ever with no sign of injury.
He thanked politely, then, as if remembering something, casually asked,
“How is Senior Rufus doing?”
He wasn’t really concerned about Rufus’s fate; rather, he was setting the stage to build his own persona.
“Rufus has already been sent to the external Infirmary,”
the Medical Instructor replied without looking up, tidying the healing tools.
Aetin shrugged indifferently.
Typical of a noble’s son—he had to be treated in the most prestigious place even for injuries.
He wasn’t worried that Rufus would die.
During their fight, Rufus had been enraged by Aetin’s provocation and had struck with lethal intent.
But Aetin had the magic “Mirror Reflection.”
At the very moment the attack was about to land, the magic reflected all the damage back onto Rufus.
Although the training ground had a barrier that reduced magic damage, Rufus would probably still be bedridden for at least ten to fifteen days.
Finally, some peace and quiet.
After bidding farewell to the Medical Instructor, Aetin left the Infirmary.
In the academy corridor, many students whispered and pointed at him.
On the surface, he appeared calm, but his ears carefully caught their murmurs.
From their hushed conversations, he learned that the spectators hadn’t clearly seen what happened in the smoke.
Naturally, they had no idea how an unknown transfer student managed to defeat one of the academy’s top-ranked mages.
Now that he thought about it, even Rufus himself probably didn’t understand how he lost.
Under the watchful gazes of many, Aetin returned to the Classroom.
The moment he pushed the door open, the once noisy room fell silent.
Fear, contempt, curiosity… a mix of emotions focused on him.
Having just defeated Rufus in the training ground, Aetin had instantly become the center of attention.
He showed no change in expression, accepting all eyes calmly as he strode back to his seat.
After the training session ended, free time began.
Students either attended club activities or went home.
Naturally, Aetin belonged to the Home Club, so he packed his bag to leave.
When Celeste saw Aetin returning, though she didn’t want to seem too concerned, she couldn’t help but quietly ask,
“Aetin, how exactly did you do it?”
In Celeste’s eyes, Aetin seemed even more mysterious now, as if enveloped in a mystical aura that made it impossible to see what was real.
From his extraordinary composure before the duel, to the cautious provocation during the fight, and finally the dramatic turnaround victory—it all flowed like water.
This transfer student was hiding too many unfathomable mysteries.
Celeste’s curiosity was thoroughly piqued.
“That guy got what was coming to him. He lost control of his magic in his anger and self-destructed,”
Aetin said casually, shrugging and making up a reason on the spot.
He didn’t want to become the school’s focus just because of this victory.
More attention would mean more people prying into his life.
After all, it was better if fewer people knew about his System.
It was best to keep up the disguise of being a lucky guy who didn’t cause trouble but wasn’t afraid of it either.
Just don’t mess with him if possible.
Though Celeste found Aetin’s explanation a bit far-fetched, upon reflection, magical backlash did happen occasionally.
His explanation was plausible enough.
So she softly said,
“Congratulations, Aetin.”
“Thank you,”
Aetin smiled and continued tidying his desk.
“Aetin, the Principal is looking for you.”
At that moment, a stranger teacher appeared at the Classroom door, beckoning Aetin.
Aetin had no choice but to put down his half-packed bag and follow the teacher out, thinking: Trouble really has come.
He was led to a room resembling an interrogation chamber.
The Principal—the bald mage—and the Instructor Toronto were already seated inside waiting.
“Aetin, don’t be nervous. We just want to understand the details of the duel.”
But the moment Aetin sat down, the Principal’s face darkened as he challenged him.
“Why did you hit so hard? If the barrier hadn’t weakened the power, Rufus might be disabled now!”
“Principal, you might be mistaken.”
Aetin chuckled lightly.
Sure enough, this seemingly impartial Principal was on Rufus’s side.
Calmly, he answered.
“Senior Rufus was hurt by his own magic reflecting back. How is that related to whether I hit hard or not?”
“His own magic reflected back?”
Toronto frowned, momentarily confused.
Aetin explained how Rufus lost control of his magic and exploded on himself during the battle, then added,
“If you don’t believe me, you can check Rufus’s injuries. They were definitely caused by his own magic.”
The Principal was momentarily speechless, but Aetin wasn’t about to let this go and countered,
“So, Senior Rufus is in this state entirely due to his own fault. If I had taken that magic directly, I’d be the one bedridden now. If the roles were reversed, do you think you could question Rufus like this?”
“As Principal, I won’t favor either side.”
The Principal was left speechless and could only cough awkwardly.
“Thank you for your understanding. I trust you will make a fair and just judgment,”
Aetin nodded and then looked toward Toronto.
“Is there anything else? I just barely escaped death and am feeling fragile. I want to go rest as soon as possible.”
“No more questions. Go rest,”
the Principal reluctantly dismissed him.
When Aetin returned to the Classroom, almost all the students had left.
He slung his bag over his shoulder and walked out the school gate.
Not far outside, he saw Celeste surrounded by a group of people.
His brow furrowed. What was going on?
At that moment, Ruby flew up beside him and pulled up a System Notification Panel.
[System Task Triggered — Assist Celeste in escaping the crowd. Task Reward: 500 points.]
Aetin’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Five hundred points?
That’s equivalent to five draws!
Since when did the System get this generous?
Don’t treat it like a wolf that can’t be tamed.
Ruby buzzed around his ear.
[Master, Celeste seems to be in trouble. Go help her and increase her favorability~]
