Looking ahead, there were roughly thirty to forty of the “Bronze” armored soldiers—just a rough estimate—and this was definitely going to be a tough battle.
Colin immediately drew the Sword of the Sanctuary, raising a shield formed from condensed light as he charged forward to draw the enemy’s fire away from the others.
Eleanor began to pray, preparing to suppress the enemies with divine magic. But since the foes were too numerous and spread out, she couldn’t suppress them all at once—only a portion for now.
“Suppress them first!” Colin shouted as he swung his sword, cleaving one of the “Bronze” armored soldiers in half at the waist. His target was those “Bronze” soldiers at the rear aiming their cylindrical weapons at them.
They had to be dealt with first; otherwise, they would pose a serious threat to Hivni and Eleanor behind them.
Colin’s words gave Eleanor a clear target. Brilliant light burst from above the heads of the “Bronze” soldiers who hadn’t yet attacked. Their hands trembled holding their weapons, and they barely had the strength to even stand, much less attack effectively.
But it wasn’t over yet. Suddenly, Liamy appeared from the shadows beneath them and decapitated one of the defenseless “Bronze” soldiers with a single slash.
Before these enemies, who were barely able to stand upright, Liamy was like the reaper’s scythe, effortlessly harvesting their lives.
Some of the “Bronze” soldiers noticed what was happening. Wielding their gunblades, they tried to take down Liamy—the comrade who was mercilessly slaughtering them.
But Liamy didn’t even glance at them. She vanished into the shadows and reappeared from another, quickly cutting down another defenseless “Bronze” soldier.
The gunblade-wielding “Bronze” soldiers tried to assist but couldn’t catch up to Liamy’s elusive movements, only arriving after she had already disappeared.
Seeing this, they gave up worrying about their comrades and decided to open fire directly, hoping to force Liamy out with area damage.
At that moment, a sharp arrow pierced the head of one “Bronze” soldier, and its wielder collapsed immediately.
Before they could react, several more arrows rained down, killing multiple “Bronze” soldiers armed with gunblades.
The remaining enemies turned to look at the culprit and saw a blonde elf confidently smiling while holding a bow.
She was about to notch another arrow when suddenly her brows furrowed, and she dodged to the side just as a volley of stone spikes erupted wildly from where she had been standing. If she had been any slower, she could have been impaled.
“Hivni, what are you doing? Isn’t it your job to defend against those magical attacks? I almost got hit just now!” Lavinia complained irritably, but Hivni ignored her.
Looking closer, a thick magical barrier surrounded Hivni, blocking the stone spikes. Yet her face was strained, as she struggled to maintain something. At her feet lay a pitch-black magic circle that looked ominous, and her constipated expression scared Lavinia into swallowing her complaints.
“Hey, hey! What’s going on? This doesn’t look good at all! Are you really okay?”
Still, Hivni didn’t answer. She continued chanting some strange incantation.
Fortunately, her chanting finished quickly. As it ended, the magic circle at her feet grew significantly larger.
At the same time, the “Bronze” soldiers wielding short swords and small shields suddenly noticed a magic circle identical to Hivni’s appear beneath their feet.
Before they could cast any protective spells, the magic circles beneath them turned into pools of dense darkness.
Black tentacles shot out, dragging them down one by one. The force was so overwhelming they didn’t even have time to struggle, all falling into the thick darkness.
Seeing this, Lavinia swallowed hard. She suddenly felt that Hivni was even more terrifying than she had imagined. From now on, she definitely shouldn’t anger her.
Having finished, Hivni breathed a sigh of relief as the magic circle and darkness vanished. She turned around and saw Lavinia looking a bit pale, which made her frown.
“Aren’t you supposed to be supporting Liamy? Why are you just here watching the show? Has Liamy already finished so quickly?”
Hearing this, Lavinia remembered her original duty and hurriedly glanced toward Liamy’s position.
She just caught sight of Liamy finishing off the last “Bronze” soldier wielding a cylindrical weapon. But because of this, the “Bronze” soldiers with gunblades finally stopped hesitating and decisively attacked Liamy, who hadn’t had time to retreat.
One of them was the fastest. As Liamy appeared to finish off the last cylindrical-weapon soldier, he aimed his weapon at her. He seemed to be the strongest among the “Bronze” soldiers chasing her.
A loud boom followed as an iron ball, more powerful than expected, whizzed past Liamy’s cheek. Her eyebrows twitched as she quickly melted into the shadows.
The “Bronze” soldier’s attack missed—not because Liamy dodged, but because the shot went off course.
Just as he was about to activate his weapon with magic, a strong, heavy force struck him, making it difficult not only to aim but even to stand. That’s why his shot veered off at the last moment.
And the one who caused this was, of course, Eleanor. She had ended her previous divine magic just as Liamy was about to finish off the last cylindrical-weapon soldier and began praying again. This time, she focused her light on the “Bronze” soldiers with gunblades, creating this narrow escape.
Seeing this, Lavinia quickly fired several arrows, helping Liamy take down those “Bronze” soldiers chasing her.
After dispatching the enemies, Liamy swiftly returned through the shadows to Lavinia’s side. When she appeared, she gave Lavinia a fierce glare but otherwise made no further move.
Lavinia felt ashamed—she even thought it might be better if Liamy had scolded her with that potion she used last time. Now she didn’t even know what to do.
Of course, just because Liamy didn’t act didn’t mean she was letting it slide. It was only because she didn’t have that potion on her this time, so Lavinia got off lightly.
After regrouping, Liamy and the others looked toward Colin’s position. They hadn’t gone to support him earlier, not because they lacked ability, but because they knew Colin didn’t need help.
Sure enough, Colin stood casually atop the remains of the “Bronze” soldiers, his expression relaxed.
Noticing their gaze, Colin returned a reassuring smile.
