After a moment of silence, Xu Wenxing’s mobile phone suddenly lit up.
Looking closely, he saw it was a voice call from his father.
Staring at his dad’s profile picture of a vast, blue ocean, Xu Wenxing took a deep breath and raised his hand to answer.
The moment the call connected, he heard his father’s voice.
“Hello, is this Wenxing?”
“It’s me. What’s up, Dad?”
“How did your mobile phone end up at the Caesar Grand Hotel? You didn’t find someone to put it there just to trick me, did you?”
Xu Wenxing suddenly fell into silence.
Then, he slapped his thigh and burst into wild laughter.
“Dad! When has your son ever let his mobile phone out of his sight? You used to nag me every day, saying I only ever look at my phone and do nothing else. Given my habits, do you really think I’d just leave my phone in a place I’m completely unfamiliar with?”
“You child, I’m just asking a question. Why are you reacting so strongly? Just speak plainly. If it happened, it happened; if it didn’t, it didn’t.”
Hearing his father’s words as he forced an excuse for the situation, Xu Wenxing suddenly felt a bit suffocated.
He really couldn’t understand why, even at this point, his dad still trusted an outsider so much.
‘Forget it, whether my dad believes it or not is his business. Regardless, since I have a mobile phone now, I can handle the Caesar Grand Hotel easily.’
“Is it possible that your son realized your friend was about to kill him, so he ran out of the room without even grabbing his phone?”
“Stop talking nonsense. How could Mr. Zhou possibly attack a kid like you? He has a massive business and a great reputation. What could he possibly want from you?”
Although he was still refuting his child, the father’s tone had clearly softened. After all, Xu Wenxing’s father knew his son’s character quite well.
Although he was distressed that Xu Wenxing spent his entire vacations cooped up at home instead of going out to make friends, or following current events in finance and real estate, he was very satisfied with Xu Wenxing’s temperament.
Since childhood, Xu Wenxing had never lost his temper or lost his mind over anything. He would only listen and observe in silence, saying nothing while continuing to refine himself.
For that reason, he was full of expectations for Xu Wenxing, hoping he would inherit the family business and allow the company to continue developing smoothly.
To reduce uncertainty in Xu Wenxing’s future, he had specifically asked Xu Wenxing to meet some of his friends, making it easier for him to have connections to rely on later.
Xu Wenxing had never resisted him either, following his orders to take his friends sightseeing in various places.
But now, Xu Wenxing had nearly met with disaster during a routine social meeting?
On the other end of the line, his father fell into thought, which was a rare occurrence.
On the other side, seeing that his father was still being so stubborn, Xu Wenxing sneered and retorted.
“Right, even after the fraud, his status is still rock-solid. Why would he need to lift a finger against an unthreatening brat like me? But my dear Dad, have you forgotten? Zhou Chenfeng is insane. He’s always trying to get you to join that training class, claiming it’ll make you successful in one fell swoop. If you hadn’t been so busy and skeptical of that stuff, I’m afraid that after joining that bullshit training class, you would have helped him kill me long ago!”
Following Xu Wenxing’s angry shout, his father had nothing left to say.
Reminded by his son, Xu Wenxing’s father also recalled Zhou Chenfeng’s various strange behaviors in the past.
He had sent gifts to their home, asked for various friends’ phone numbers, and constantly invited him to join that strange Chosen Elite training class.
Even weirder was the look in Zhou Chenfeng’s eyes when he made eye contact with him and his wife.
There was always a trace of bizarre, fanatical intensity, as if he were observing a rare animal.
Normally, he would never have cared about these insignificant details. He knew very well that it was impossible to judge a person’s heart by their face.
Those who looked like they wanted to harm him might not necessarily do so, while those who greeted him with smiles might very well be plotting his death.
But now it seemed he was wrong, and terribly so. He had nearly caused his own child to die at the man’s hands.
Thinking of this, Xu Wenxing’s father felt a wave of lingering fear. He couldn’t help but feel lucky that his child had such good fortune, even managing to meet a good person willing to buy him a mobile phone.
At that thought, Xu Wenxing’s father spoke slowly to his child.
“…Alright, say no more. I believe you. I miscalculated this time. I didn’t expect Zhou Chenfeng to be a madman.”
Though he didn’t know why his father had suddenly changed his tune and finally decided to trust him, this would save him a lot of steps.
He could resolve the trouble with the Caesar Grand Hotel in one go!
“It’s fine. Everyone misjudges people sometimes. I don’t blame you, Dad.”
“Mm.”
“By the way, Dad, can you do me a favor?”
Xu Wenxing timely changed the subject and stood up, looking toward the distant Caesar Grand Hotel. An involuntary smile appeared on his face.
He had already thought of a reasonable way to deal with this famous hotel.
“What is it? Go ahead. As long as it’s not too ridiculous.”
Xu Wenxing’s father immediately agreed, though he drew a mental line for himself. As long as he didn’t mention killing someone or anything else illegal, he could agree.
Even if his son wanted to make some kind of weird mobile game, he wouldn’t care. To make up for his previous misunderstanding of his son, this small price was nothing.
“Don’t worry, I won’t make things difficult for you,” Xu Wenxing said in a relaxed tone. “I just want revenge.”
“Revenge?”
“Yeah. Dad, do you have any major dirt on the Caesar Grand Hotel? The kind that would get them banned forever?” Xu Wenxing asked curiously.
His father fell silent for a few seconds before giving his answer. “No. The company operating the Caesar Grand Hotel is very cautious. There isn’t any major dirt on them.”
“I see.” Xu Wenxing nodded. “Then what about dirt that would shut them down for a year or even half a month? Surely you have that sort of thing?”
“Yes, quite a lot. Why? You want to get this hotel shut down?”
“Of course!” Xu Wenxing replied immediately. “I almost died in that hellhole. How could I not want to see them get kicked out for good?”
Hearing this, Xu Wenxing’s father burst into laughter. He understood his son’s feelings and agreed on the spot.
“Don’t worry! You’re my son! Your grudge is my grudge! First thing tomorrow morning, the Caesar Grand Hotel will be cordoned off with seal strips, and their person in charge will be taken in for investigation. Are you satisfied with that result?”
