The journey was long. Su Ling leaned against the car door.
Listening to the rain hitting the roof of the car, making uneven thumping sounds, Su Ling had an indescribable feeling in his heart.
His fingers subconsciously rubbed the spot on his neck. On his originally fair and tender neck, there was a wide red mark—the trace left by the Collar!
All of this was too sudden for him.
One second he was sleeping in that room, and the next second he was in the car.
Just like that, he left that house, a house that didn’t hold many beautiful memories for him.
He should have been happy, but he didn’t feel much joy in his heart because it was simply too sudden—so sudden that he hadn’t prepared anything.
The car stopped in front of a building.
“Put this on.”
Su Ling took the mask and baseball cap in his hand and looked at Ye Moran with a strange expression.
“They… won’t let me have contact with you, so…”
“I… I understand…”
Su Ling silently put on the mask and cap, his mood becoming somewhat low.
He knew who the “they” Ye Moran spoke of were. Being treated this way by his former parents made his heart ache.
“Alright, don’t be unhappy. I’ll take you inside!”
“Why come here?”
Su Ling looked at the building in front of him, his heart full of confusion. He naturally recognized the building before him—Ye’s Building!
Wasn’t he just changing places to live? Why come to a place of work?
Ye Moran took Su Ling’s small hand. Under the cover of night, she tried her best to walk through secluded areas.
As she walked, she said, “I rarely went home before and always stayed at the Ye Family Company. So, behind my office, there is a rest area with complete facilities.”
“We will live there from now on, okay?”
Su Ling did not answer. When she said those words, his mind was a mess, and he had no idea how to respond.
Say it’s okay? He couldn’t bring himself to say it.
Say it’s not okay? He was a bit afraid to say it, fearing she would take him back to that place and lock him up again.
In the end, he could only choose to respond with silence.
Ye Moran’s other hand, tucked into her pocket, clenched so tightly that her knuckles turned white. She hated this silence!
the Little Fellow still didn’t like her!
She forcibly suppressed the fury in her heart. She couldn’t lose control again. Every time she lost control, it brought harm to the Little Fellow. She had to endure!
She let go of the Little Fellow and shoved both hands into her pockets. After simply saying “follow me,” she walked forward.
Su Ling felt it was a bit strange, but he didn’t say anything.
The two entered the side door of the building. Relying on her memory, Ye Moran found the freight elevator that she almost never stepped foot in.
The only reason she remembered this freight elevator was because she had once finished work so late that the staff elevators were deactivated, forcing her to take it!
During that time, the Little Fellow hadn’t been born yet. She still needed to maintain a facade of familial affection with Ye Father and Ye Mother, so she had lived at home.
It was only after the Little Fellow was born that she moved out of the house!
Later…
“Ding!~”
The ding of the elevator interrupted her thoughts. Her consciousness returned to the present. She glanced at the Little Fellow beside her and really wanted to reach out to hold his hand, but feeling the wetness in her palm, she abandoned the idea.
She continued walking forward.
Su Ling looked at her retreating back as she walked ahead, his palm opening and closing weakly.
“Annoying person,” he whispered softly before quickly following her.
Arriving in front of her office, Ye Moran used her back as cover. She reached out with her blood-stained hand and placed a finger that wasn’t covered in blood on the lock!
Click!
A crisp unlocking sound rang out. She pushed the door open and walked in quickly. Before the Little Fellow could enter, she grabbed a nearby tissue and crumpled it into her palm!
Su Ling walked in. Everything around him was exactly as he remembered.
He used to love coming here to find his Elder Sister to play. He did when he was small, and he still did when he grew up.
While he was lost in thought, Ye Moran had already opened the door to the rest area in the back.
“Come in.”
Ye Moran held the door open with one hand, striking an inviting pose, smiling with Tenderness as she invited him.
Su Ling looked at the room. It was very dark inside; the lights weren’t on, and he couldn’t see anything clearly.
Without thinking much, he walked straight in!
The moment he stepped past the doorway, a “clack” sounded, and instantly, bright light flooded the entire room!
Su Ling stood there and closed his eyes, waiting until they adjusted to the light before slowly opening them.
The room had every facility imaginable, so complete that it felt somewhat familiar to him!
The room was large, not at all like a simple rest area. The layout of the entire room was extremely similar to one place—the Basement!
He turned his head to look at the smiling Ye Moran!
“This place…”
Su Ling wanted to question her. He wanted to ask if this place, just like that Basement, was something she had prepared for him long ago?!
But Ye Moran avoided him and walked straight into the bathroom. After a moment, she came back out holding a remote, which she pressed!
In the next moment, the originally closed curtains around them slowly rose, revealing the scenery outside!
Only then did Su Ling realize that the surrounding outer walls were all windows. Standing here allowed him to see the city scenery very clearly.
“I know you like basking in the Sun. Here, you can enjoy the Sun without even leaving the house. Moreover, the windows are one-way; you can see outside from the inside, but people outside cannot see in.”
Ye Moran seemed to be introducing the room, but in reality, she had already answered Su Ling’s suspicion.
This place was indeed prepared for him—a New Cage!
Su Ling took a deep breath, forcing himself to hold back the tears.
“I… I want to take a bath…”
Su Ling didn’t know how to face Ye Moran. He should have been angry, but every time he saw her face full of Tenderness, he couldn’t bring himself to be angry.
He wasn’t the type of person who would scream and shout when angry, and the fact that he could see the Sun here was something he couldn’t refuse!
He really loved the Sun, especially the winter and spring Sun; it gave him a very warm feeling!
Therefore, for a moment, he didn’t know how to face Ye Moran and could only choose his most habitual method: avoidance!
He practically fled into the bathroom. Under the wash of the running water, he finally couldn’t help but cry!
Ye Moran stood outside the bathroom. Hearing the suppressed sobbing inside, her heart sank for some reason.
Had she done something wrong again?
Su Ling sat weakly in the bathtub. He couldn’t understand why his Elder Sister could be so cruel to him while being so tender at the same time?
He could manage to be cold toward a cruel Elder Sister, and he could manage to be dependent on a tender Elder Sister, but an Elder Sister like this made him truly not know what to do.
He just sat there, letting the water from the showerhead crash against him. The warm flow allowed his heart to find a brief moment of peace.
But this peace didn’t last long. Soon the hot water ran out. He could only get out of the tub, simply dried his body, blew his hair dry, and then pushed open the bathroom door with a heavy heart!
Unexpectedly, Ye Moran was nowhere to be seen in the room. The curtains had been lowered. He bit his lip, climbed onto the bed, and curled himself into the covers!
This was fine too. Since she wasn’t here, he didn’t have to face her…
