Within the area surrounded by the Monster Tide, Letia hid in the shadows, watching the tide of Beasts below.
Admittedly, her concealment skills were indeed strong, but that meant nothing to the Beasts.
These monsters could sense heat and the presence of living beings, so no matter how well she hid, it was actually easy for them to discover her.
So relying on stealth to escape from here was just as unrealistic.
She took a quick look around, then turned her head back toward Red.
At this moment, the man had his eyes closed, manipulating as many Mechanical Constructs as possible, trying to find an escape route from this place.
But just as mentioned before, this was a relatively enclosed space.
The few escape routes that existed were all thoroughly blocked by Beasts.
Behind them was an entirely unknown area, but judging by the heavy air, it should be sealed off as well.
“Looks like all we can do now is pray…..”
Letia leaned against the Cross, her fingers interlaced in prayer.
“May the Master bless us.”
Aren’t you the one who doesn’t care about the Master at all?
Others might not know, but Red was well aware—Letia wasn’t your traditional religious follower.
If anything, she was almost an atheist, always talking about the Master, but holding something entirely different in her heart.
“Well~”
Letia shrugged.
“If you believe, it’s real. If you don’t, it’s not. It doesn’t cost me anything to just say the words.”
“If your Master heard you say that, they’d be crying.”
Even at the edge of desperation, with Letia around, the atmosphere didn’t seem so suffocating.
“Cry? For what?”
Letia curled her lip.
“Honestly, in the Holy Church, someone like me already counts as devout enough.”
Red was speechless.
If what Letia said was true, then the Holy Church might just be a little too free-spirited.
“You’re really optimistic,” Red sighed.
“Given the situation, we could die at any time. It would have been better if you hadn’t come along…..”
Before Red could finish grumbling, Letia stretched lazily and spoke.
“I just thought it was sad for a poor little virgin like you, dying without ever tasting what a woman is like. That… that really is a bit too pitiful.”
Letia gave him a look full of sympathy and pity.
“Tch….”
Red clicked his tongue.
“Like you’re not just as much a virgin yourself. Pot calling the kettle black, who are you to talk?”
“How am I the same as you?”
Letia put her hand on Red’s shoulder.
“At least I’ve tasted what a woman is like.”
“There’s something fundamentally wrong with the logic in that statement.”
Red clutched his head in agony.
Honestly, in some ways, you really couldn’t see Letia as a woman.
After all, what kind of girl would say, “I’ve tasted what a woman is like?”
“So anyway,” Ku Letia spread her hands.
“We’re about to die, so why not find yourself a persona, quick?”
“What persona?”
Red’s mind hadn’t caught up, but Letia wore a rather teasing expression.
“Just find yourself… a persona.”
At that moment, Red finally caught on.
He took a deep breath, then vigorously rubbed his temples.
“With everything going on, you’re still cracking dirty jokes!”
“I just felt sorry for you! Now let go of my head!”
After a while, Letia tidied her somewhat messy hair, looking at Red with a resentful gaze.
“Other men stay youthful at heart till death, but you? You’re a virgin till death… I gave you a chance and you didn’t even use it.”
“Heh~”
Red let out a cold laugh.
“Like you’d really agree if I said yes. Am I your plaything?”
“How do you know if you don’t try?”
Letia smiled playfully.
“After all, our situations are the same—we’re both about to die. What’s wrong with enjoying ourselves before the end?”
Looking at Letia, Red suddenly fell silent.
After three seconds of deep thought, he slowly nodded.
“You make a good point.”
…Huh?”
Letia was stunned, and while she was frozen, Red took off his shirt.
Though he was a Great Magician of Creation, his body was unexpectedly well-toned.
“Come on, then.”
“Ehh, ehh?!”
Clearly, Letia was caught off guard by Red’s sudden reversal.
“Wait… in this situation, you can even get it up…”
Her gaze drifted downward, and then she quietly took a step back.
She didn’t bother finishing her sentence.
Even so, she forced herself to say, “Uh… the rocks here are really sharp and uncomfortable… I’ll go look for something nearby to put underneath!”
By the end, Letia was stumbling over her words, flustered as she ran off.
Watching her retreat, Red chuckled.
“Talks big, but in the end, she’s just another awkward virgin herself. Who are you fooling?”
Normally, Red might have gotten flustered, but as previously mentioned, the closer he came to death, the calmer he became inside.
You want to mess with me now?
Ever heard of turning the tables?
Ever heard of reaping what you sow?
As for why he took his shirt off?
Honestly, the reason was simple: after running for so long, he was drenched in sweat, his clothes stuck to him and felt uncomfortable, so he just took them off for convenience.
And Letia got so spooked, she actually thought he was serious?
Ridiculous.
Monkey business—he could strip completely and nothing would happen.
“But, speaking of which… why isn’t she back yet?”
Sharp-tongued banter aside, Red put away his mischief, but his keen senses picked up on the lurking danger in the deathly silence outside the cave.
This damned place was far from safe.
The Beasts’ low growls might have faded for now, but who knew if those bloodthirsty beasts would find them by scent?
With that thought, Red left their hiding spot.
In the distance, unknown Beasts rumbled like distant thunder, their echoes rolling through the winding tunnels, adding even more pressure.
When he reached outside, he was shocked to discover… on the cliff in the opposite direction, there were tracks leading off the edge, as if someone had slipped and fallen.
It was as if someone had fallen off right there.
Red’s heart leapt to his throat.
He quickly looked down and saw a deep pit below.
There were no signs of Beasts, but looking from here, he could just make out a petite figure.
“No way?”
Did Letia really fall down there?
And judging by the figure, she seemed to be hugging her knees—looked like she’d taken quite a tumble!
Red had no idea why Letia would end up like this, but he didn’t dare waste time.
He immediately covered himself in Mechanical Constructs and slid straight down the smooth rock face.
“Are you alright?”
Red rushed to the curled-up girl and quickly asked
But before he could call her name, he caught sight of the unmistakable green hair.
The girl lifted her head, looking at Red with pitiful eyes.
Red fell silent for a moment, then said two words.
“Weird fate?”
Wrong girl I guess.
