“So, what should we do about this commission?”
Xi Ya walked back to the Registration Desk and set the Commission Letter down again.
“Senior, is there really no way to bend the rules?”
“I already told you, there’s an issue with the rating. You need to file an appeal.”
The Senior replied coldly, showing no leniency.
He didn’t even lift his head, too busy with his work.
“Senior, look, it’s already evening…”
Xi Ya planned to wear him down with persistence.
He refused to believe this guy couldn’t be worn out.
“I said, there’s an issue with the rating. Go back and wait for the appeal result.”
The Senior cut him off directly.
Sigh, forget it.
There was no way to settle this today.
He’d figure something out tomorrow.
Xi Ya was about to head back when he heard a familiar female voice from behind him.
“I’m the one who reviewed this commission.”
He turned around and found that Sophia had somehow already walked up to the Registration Desk.
Sophia reached out, her index finger tapping the Commission Letter on the desk.
The Senior noticed the finger on the letter, looked up at Sophia, and his expression showed a hint of surprise.
“Teacher Jidun?”
“Mm.”
Sophia acknowledged, then immediately added, “The actual situation of this commission is far more complicated than what’s written on paper. I personally assessed the risk, and the B-Rating is not a problem.”
The Senior adjusted his glasses, his gaze sweeping between Sophia and the Commission Letter twice.
Meanwhile, Xi Ya was also surprised after hearing this.
So this commission was reviewed by Sophia?
After half a minute, the Senior finally spoke:
“If it was reviewed by Teacher Jidun, then there shouldn’t be a problem.”
He scribbled a few lines in the registration book, then pushed the Commission Letter back.
“Alright, the Credits will be added to your account tomorrow morning.”
Xi Ya took the Commission Letter, feeling a weight lift off his chest.
Finally done.
If he’d known this commission was reviewed by Sophia, he would have gone to her for help much earlier.
“Xi Ya, come with me for a moment.”
Sophia tilted her head and said, then walked out of the Teleport Hall.
Xi Ya was stunned for a moment, unsure what Sophia wanted with him.
“Oh, okay.”
He replied, turned to say goodbye to the two girls, and followed after her.
The two of them walked in silence the whole way.
When they reached the entrance of the Teaching Building, Xi Ya couldn’t hold back and called out to Sophia.
“Teacher Sophia, about that commission, I have a question.”
“Go ahead.”
Sophia tilted her head and said.
“You said earlier that you reviewed the rating for this commission.”
“Mm.”
“Then can I assume you already knew the killer was a Vampire?”
Sophia didn’t answer immediately.
She turned to face Xi Ya, her gaze calm, as if she were examining something.
After a few seconds, she gave a slight nod.
“Yes.”
What?
You already knew it was a Vampire’s doing?
If you knew, then why not reveal it?
Instead, you posted it as an Academy commission?
Just letting it happen, huh?
Xi Ya ranted a whole string of complaints in his head, but none of it showed on his face.
He probed tentatively: “Why didn’t you handle it directly? Those Villagers lost a lot of livestock because of that Vampire, and even three people have gone missing.”
“Because it wouldn’t be appropriate.”
Sophia’s tone was flat.
Xi Ya was dumbfounded after hearing that.
Not appropriate?
What kind of excuse is that?
You just leave those Villagers hanging because it’s not appropriate?
Villagers: Do you even care?
Don’t tell me you deliberately left this for me to do…
“I’m a teacher at the Academy. I can’t casually interfere in local affairs. Besides, this commission—I intentionally left it for the right person.”
When Sophia said “the right person,” she deliberately glanced at Xi Ya.
Xi Ya caught that look from Sophia and felt something odd.
When he’d seen this B-rank Quest on the quest board earlier, he’d thought it was strange—why hadn’t anyone taken such a simple B-rank Quest?
So this commission really was left for him?
Then what if he hadn’t taken it?
Wouldn’t you have been screwed?
Xi Ya suddenly thought of something.
Since this commission was intentionally left for him, Sophia seemed to be confident he could complete it.
But with his current strength, there was no way he could beat Kang Na.
Could it be…
He looked up, stealing a glance at Sophia, and felt a chill run down his spine.
No way?
Sophia couldn’t possibly know about his Transformation, right?
Xi Ya panicked a little, but quickly dismissed the possibility.
He hadn’t revealed his Transformation in front of anyone so far, let alone Sophia, whom he’d only met a few times.
Still, there was something very suspicious about Sophia.
He even suspected that the Ritual Book left in the cave was placed there by Sophia herself.
But he didn’t dare ask.
He didn’t know what Sophia’s purpose was in lurking at the Academy, and if he rashly exposed her, he’d be the one to suffer.
Just observe for now…
He had nothing to do tonight anyway.
He could study that Ritual Book and maybe find some clues.
“I understand. Thank you, Teacher Sophia. I’ll be going…”
He was about to leave when Sophia called out to him.
“Wait.”
Xi Ya stopped in his tracks and looked at Sophia with confusion.
“Teacher, is there something else?”
Sophia didn’t speak.
She just reached out her hand toward him.
Xi Ya was puzzled by the gesture.
What is she doing?
A handshake or asking for something?
“Take it out and give it to me.”
Sophia said.
What?
She couldn’t be talking about that Ritual Book, could she?
“What thing?”
Xi Ya played dumb, pretending not to know.
“I know you hid it. Take it out and give it to me.”
Sophia stared intently into his eyes, staring until Xi Ya’s heart raced.
Damn, how does she know I hid the Ritual Book?
Is there a tracking spell on the book?
But I didn’t notice one?
Sophia kept her hand extended, waiting for Xi Ya to hand over the book.
No choice.
He had to hand it over.
Xi Ya hesitated for a few seconds, but ultimately reached into his clothes, felt for the Ritual Book in his Storage Space, and pulled it out with great reluctance.
Sophia took the book, flipped through it casually, then closed it.
“You can’t read this book right now.”
As she spoke, a red Magic Circle appeared at her side—that was her Storage Space.
“I’ll hold onto it for you. When the time is right, I’ll teach you the Magic written in it.”
Xi Ya was stunned.
When the time is right, she’ll teach him the Magic in it?
But everything recorded in it was Blood Magic.
Humans couldn’t use it, and the only ones who could use Blood Magic were basically the Blood Clan.
So, was Sophia revealing her identity to him?
But there was one more thing that bothered him even more.
Sophia said she would teach him, which meant she was certain he could use Blood Magic.
But how did she know?
Could she possibly know about the system too?
Xi Ya couldn’t figure it out.
By now, Sophia had already stored the book in her Storage Space and turned to walk into the Teaching Building.
“Good luck at the Ranking Tournament next week.”
She paused at the door, without turning back.
“Ah, yeah, I will.”
Xi Ya snapped back and responded.
Sophia’s figure gradually disappeared into the Teaching Building.
Xi Ya stood there, his suspicions about her growing even stronger.
Just how much does she know?
What’s her goal?
