Jiu Baiyun’s mind stirred slightly as he quickly scanned through the series of messages sent by Su Zhiyun.
When he saw the description of the scroll, even though Jiu Baiyun had experienced so much and seen so many things, he couldn’t help but draw a sharp breath.
[Law-Level Imposition]!! [Directly gain universal recognition and basic respect across the entire Cultivation World]!
These few short lines—the meaning contained within was no small matter!
He had never seen anything with such effects!
This completely surpassed any magic treasure, formation, or even the deterrence of a top-tier powerhouse!
This was essentially prying directly into the underlying rules of this world!
No wonder Su Zhiyun was so excited.
Only something produced by the System could achieve such a heaven-defying effect!
Forcing the entire Cultivation World, infested with eerie creatures, to “recognize” a sect that a human intended to establish?
Just how heaven-defying was this thing?
It could be said that if it weren’t for Su Zhiyun, he would never have seen anything like this in his entire life, either before or after transmigrating!
Without needing to think, he knew that Su Zhiyun must have undergone a significant internal struggle before giving him the sub-system and the scroll.
He really hadn’t expected that Su Zhiyun, who clearly disliked him somewhat, would actually give him something so precious.
Only…
Jiu Baiyun personally felt that what he had done didn’t yet deserve something so valuable.
He instinctively wanted to return it to Su Zhiyun, but then he froze.
He suddenly realized that he didn’t seem to know where the return button was.
Just then, seeing Jiu Baiyun’s prolonged silence, Bai Ya quietly asked again:
“Young Lord?”
Bai Ya’s face, piled with ingratiating smiles, was right in front of him, his small eyes flashing with cunning.
Jiu Baiyun’s thoughts were immediately pulled back by Bai Ya, and now there was no time to refuse Su Zhiyun.
However…
Facing Bai Ya, Jiu Baiyun instinctively opened his mouth, the word “no” of refusal almost slipping out.
Yet, just as the syllable was about to be uttered, his peripheral vision caught sight of Qing Ling, Bai Ya, and Ku Mu, who stood before him with respectful yet scheming expressions, as well as Zhu Le and Zhu Shi beside them, simple and honest but equally filled with awe.
A thought flashed through his mind.
‘If the scroll’s effect is truly as described, then the upcoming sect establishment will be a spectacle.’
‘Wouldn’t letting these demons witness that moment be more powerful than any verbal threat or intimidation by status?’
‘Rather than refusing their “good intentions” now and letting them leave with doubts or even dissatisfaction, why not let them stay and see for themselves!’
‘That way, even if my identity as the Fox Demon Lord’s “offspring” later becomes invalid, they’ll still have some scruples!’
Jiu Baiyun swallowed the “no” that was about to leave his mouth, a faint puff of air escaping his throat.
Then, looking at Bai Ya, also glancing at the hovering Qing Ling and the silent Ku Mu, and finally resting his gaze on Zhu Le and Zhu Shi, he spoke with a tone of slight resignation.
“Forget it.”
Jiu Baiyun paused, then continued:
“All of you, come along.”
The ingratiating smile on Bai Ya’s face instantly froze, then was replaced by immense joy, his small bean-like eyes wide open.
He had been worried that the Young Lord would refuse after such a long delay!
“Yes! Yes! Thank you for your grace, Young Lord! I’ll go make arrangements right away! I guarantee you’ll be satisfied!”
Before his voice died away, his figure flickered and vanished on the spot, clearly off to gather his people.
Qing Ling, hovering mid-air, a flicker of surprise crossed her elegant face, which then deepened into greater respect.
She landed lightly and bowed again.
“I await the Young Lord’s orders. Qing Ling will attend by your side.”
Ku Mu’s face, like old bark, remained expressionless, but his eyes moved ever so slightly.
He gave a slight nod and responded hoarsely:
“Yes.”
“Alright! Don’t worry, Young Lord! We’ll clear the way for you!”
Zhu Shi reacted the quickest, immediately slapping a palm on the still-dazed Zhu Le with his thick bear paw.
Both brown bears suddenly perked up, taking their places at the very front of the group, like loyal guards.
Jiu Baiyun didn’t look at them again.
Instead, he turned his head slightly, using his peripheral vision to glance at Su Zhiyun behind him.
Su Zhiyun, in turn, put on a puzzled expression.
Then, on the panel in front of Jiu Baiyun, a “ding-dong” notification sound rang out.
[Su Zhiyun]: Are you really going to let them follow!? Aren’t you afraid they’ll cause trouble? (U口U)
[Jiu Baiyun]: Don’t worry, they wouldn’t dare.
[Su Zhiyun]: But… how can you be sure they won’t dare? (#)
Looking at the emoticon Su Zhiyun sent on the panel, Jiu Baiyun almost couldn’t hold back his laughter.
He tapped part of the panel with his mind, wanting to send a few emoticons back, but found no way to do so.
He had to give up.
[Jiu Baiyun]: You know that the Fox Immortal and I are of the same clan, right?
Among the Demon Race, they revere the strong, especially the bloodline of a powerful clan.
So by relying on my identity as a member of the Fox Immortal’s clan, they wouldn’t dare to cause us trouble.
[Jiu Baiyun]: If they really wanted to cause trouble, they wouldn’t have come to see us in the first place.
[Jiu Baiyun]: Besides, don’t you think this is a good opportunity?
Jiu Baiyun’s words clearly stunned Su Zhiyun.
After a long while.
[Su Zhiyun]: What good opportunity??
[Jiu Baiyun]: You’re afraid they’ll cause trouble, right?
This scroll of yours is bound to make quite a stir.
It’ll be just enough to intimidate them and keep them in line.
This time, Su Zhiyun immediately understood Jiu Baiyun’s meaning.
“Let’s go.”
Having answered Su Zhiyun’s questions, Jiu Baiyun took the lead, striding toward the gray, spiritually barren mountaintop that Ku Mu had pointed out.
His snow-white fox tail swayed slightly behind him, tracing a cold, graceful arc in the somewhat gloomy light.
Xiao Mu immediately followed closely, her little hand grabbing his clothes again.
Su Zhiyun steadied herself, took A Ran’s hand, and followed.
She could feel her heart pounding in her chest—both nervous and filled with an indescribable anticipation.
Qing Ling, half a step behind, followed with an elegant posture, her green skirt brushing over the charred grass without a speck of dust.
Ku Mu trudged silently, his steps slightly unsteady, at the side of the group.
Zhu Shi and Zhu Le faithfully carried out their duty of “clearing the way.”
The two towering brown bear figures walked at the front, their thick bear paws thudding heavily against the ground.
Bai Ya acted the fastest.
Before the group had gone far, a dense rustling sound came from the bushes and burrows on both sides.
Then, a dozen or so small, incredibly agile Mysterious Rats emerged.
Their fur was sleek and glossy, their eyes darting around as they quickly fanned out in front and on the flanks of the group.
Bai Ya himself had somehow reappeared slightly behind and to the side of Jiu Baiyun, a perfectly respectful smile on his face.
He said in a low voice:
“Rest assured, Young Lord. I’ve already had them scour the area. No ill-mannered creature would dare to disturb you.”
