Faced with such a question, Feng Ling naturally couldn’t play dead.
She was about to reply, but before she could type a few words, her phone screen abruptly switched to an incoming call interface, Lian Ge’s name filling the entire screen.
“Everyone, hang on a moment. I need to take a call.”
Then she took off her headphones, tiptoed over to the door, and slipped out.
She avoided the live stream camera, making sure the audience couldn’t hear the content of this call.
She pressed the answer button, raised the phone to her ear, and twisted the door lock open with her other hand, pushing it outward.
“Hello, Lian Ge…”
Feng Ling had just started speaking when she was startled by the person in front of her.
Standing at the door was a person, holding a phone to her ear with one hand and the other hand crossed over her chest.
Her deep blue long hair glistened with a chilling luster under the corridor lights… and this person was exactly Lian Ge, the one on the other end of the line.
Their eyes met.
Lian Ge moved the phone away from her ear, and her cheeks were immediately bathed in the blue glow of the screen, giving her a solemn, imposing look.
Feng Ling was genuinely a bit frightened.
She waited a moment before snapping out of it, then dryly called out, “Lian… Lian Ge.”
Feng Ling never thought that just because she declined a date, Lian Ge would actually come to her door to confront her, and at this hour of the night, no less.
She wouldn’t really go after her, would she…
She didn’t have time to let her thoughts run wild.
Feng Ling immediately scrambled to start explaining.
“Um… actually, I do have my reasons…”
Luckily, Feng Ling was always good at weaving lies.
Her expression instantly turned sorrowful, as if she was afraid of being misunderstood, and she secretly wiped the corner of her eye as she spoke:
“Actually, when you asked me out, Lian Ge, I was really happy. I know myself that you’re very good to me, but precisely because you’re so good to me, I feel really sorry.”
“Actually, every time I accept your care, I’m a little scared.”
“I want to do so much for you, but I can only do so little. In response, I also don’t dare to accept too much love from you.”
“I’m afraid I can’t give you equal care, afraid that one day you’ll think I’m just using your kindness for fun, afraid that one day you’ll think I have no human feelings, that I’m just an ungrateful little demon beast, and then you’ll leave me.”
Feng Ling forced a bit of sob into her voice, lowered her head, and rubbed her eyes, as if she was already crying.
“If it really comes to that, then it’s better to end our relationship early…”
Before Feng Ling could finish, Lian Ge’s arms had already reached around Feng Ling’s shoulders, pulling her into a warm embrace, holding her close to her chest.
And in Lian Ge’s arms, Feng Ling let out a sigh of relief.
Even she herself was a little impressed by her impromptu acting.
“How could that be? Of course, love is unconditional. How could I ever leave you?”
Lian Ge’s voice came from her chest, and Feng Ling, pressed against her, was filled with that warm sound throughout her whole body.
“Besides, why are you apologizing to me? Today, it’s me who’s troubling you, after all.”
“Actually, just now I saw you playing games on your livestream, and you seemed really into it. I was thinking of asking if you could play together with me.”
“But it wasn’t until I walked over here that I suddenly remembered that playing games might be your job too. Maybe it’s not so good to trouble you. That’s why I sent you that message asking, ‘Aren’t you busy? Why are you livestreaming?'”
“O-oh… so that’s how it was?”
“I just came to ask if you could play games with me… What did you think I was?”
Lian Ge pouted a little, looking slightly displeased.
Come to think of it, she and Lian Ge had only started to improve their relationship recently.
Turning down one or two invitations was simply normal social interaction, with no need to be this guilty about it.
The main issue was that Feng Ling had a guilty conscience.
Now, facing Lian Ge, even she was jumping at shadows.
“Uh…”
Feng Ling realized how needlessly defensive her hasty explanation had been, and immediately tried to cover it up.
“What I said just now was also from the heart. I really do feel bad about always troubling you. But since you’re the one troubling me this time, I guess it doesn’t count.”
She pushed the door open, stepped aside, and made a path.
Lian Ge stepped past Feng Ling and walked in.
Feng Ling let Lian Ge go ahead, then followed behind her.
Feng Ling brought another chair from the living room and placed it next to her computer chair.
The two of them sat side by side in front of the camera.
Feng Ling waved at the camera, and Lian Ge followed suit, smiling and waving too.
The chat, which had already been thrilled by the gift-giving earlier in the evening, now erupted as the streamer brought in another magical girl:
“Isn’t that Lian Ge!”
“Captain Lian Ge is here for an inspection, run, Feng Ling!”
“Did Feng Ling make the captain angry and get arrested again?”
“Where’s Chi Yun today? The Chi Ling Party is crying.”
Feng Ling made an introduction gesture at the camera and introduced Lian Ge, who was visiting the stream:
“Everyone knows her, right? This is our magical girl squad captain, Lian Ge. She was the one who called me just now. She came over to hang out with me today, so I pulled her into the stream with me.”
Lian Ge had also done livestreams before—official ones, admittedly—but she knew the basics of streaming culture.
She bowed slightly and nodded at the camera.
“Hello, everyone. I’m Lian Ge. Sorry for intruding today.”
The chat’s reaction was even more intense than before.
“Are they that close? She can just come over to her house?”
“After all, Lian Ge did stand up for our Feng Ling before, right?”
“What about Chi Yun? Why didn’t Chi Yun come today? Feng Ling, you sure moved on fast.”
“Chi Yun, come back, your home is being stolen! Boohoo.”
Come to think of it, Feng Ling had actually considered using Lian Ge for some yuri bait before.
After all, Lian Ge had high popularity and a good image, and the two of them together would definitely max out the topicality.
But now that Lian Ge was actually sitting next to her, doing this together, it felt a bit strange…
She shook her head, dismissing those thoughts, and focused on the stream.
Feng Ling used the mouse to open the game platform and casually asked while scrolling through the game list, “Lian Ge, what kind of games do you like to play?”
“As for me… I’ve never really played any games.”
“Then what were you saying about playing games with me?”
Feng Ling turned her head to look at her.
So she was a complete newbie after all.
It would’ve been better to just watch a movie or chat.
Why play games?
But Lian Ge misinterpreted her expression, thinking Feng Ling wasn’t keen on teaching a beginner, and quickly added, “But I can learn, right? It should be pretty simple, shouldn’t it?”
Feng Ling nodded.
Since Lian Ge insisted on playing, she’d just go along with it.
But then she had a mischievous idea.
She didn’t really want to be glued to Lian Ge anyway, so she might as well take her down a peg in the game.
If she got discouraged and backed off, then she wouldn’t keep coming to her to play games all the time.
