Chapter 9: Invincible

“These monkeys all look the same? Forget it, I’ll just kill them all!”

The sheep-headed monster’s thoughts were straightforward.

For it, anything that didn’t have four legs deserved to die.

“I’ll use the blood of you monkeys to mourn my fallen brethren!”

The monster’s roar was earth-shattering, instantly plunging the diners into panic.

“A-a monster!”

“Run!”

“The Hero Association! Call the Hero Association!”

The crowd erupted into chaos, pressing together as they scrambled toward the store’s exit.

Unfortunately, the shop had only one narrow aisle, and while there weren’t many customers, their complete lack of order in the face of death created a jam—everyone pushing everyone else, and no one able to get out.

The sheep-headed monster watched coldly, a disdainful snort escaping its nostrils.

Instead of lunging like a wild beast, it simply stepped forward, crossed its arms in front of its chest, and as heat surged, a powerful shockwave erupted from its center.

BAM!

The explosion echoed through the nearby streets, drawing most people’s attention.

Faced with the towering black smoke, some couldn’t resist pulling out their phones to film and gossip.

Only when the sheep-headed monster’s burly figure emerged from the dust, its vicious crimson eyes scanning the crowd, did the onlookers—who loved a good spectacle—realize something was wrong.

“It’s a monster!”

“Run!”

“Bunch of lower life-forms…”

The sheep-headed monster sneered at the fleeing crowd, its face twisting with anticipation for the coming hunt.

Just as it was contemplating how much destruction to cause, a clear voice complaining came from the rubble behind it:

“Seriously…”

“Why do I always get blown up?”

The sheep-headed monster turned with interest, locking its gaze on the girl slowly rising from the smoke.

“So there’s someone who can still stand? Looks like you might actually interest me.”

“Hey, state your name. I, Yangtou Wang, do not kill nameless nobodies.”

Su Yu, who had just stood up, immediately thought, ‘This guy must be brain-dead.’

But out of professionalism, she held back from outright mocking him and instead gave the bizarre creature a once-over.

‘So this is the legendary monster?’

Su Yu didn’t know how to feel at that moment.

She’d been transmigrated here for a while now, and this was the first time she’d seen a live monster—but this wasn’t what she wanted.

If possible, she’d rather see a dead monster.

At least that came with no danger.

Seeing Su Yu stay silent, the sheep-headed monster lost patience.

With that, a crimson flame shot from the monster’s eyes straight at Su Yu.

A loud crash came, accompanied by the sound of shattering glass.

Su Yu’s heart skipped a beat.

‘It’s over. I’m going to die.’

The only defensive measure she had—the Return Barrier she’d summoned with all her magic—was like paper in front of the sheep-headed monster.

It broke with a single push.

Honestly, when the barrier shattered, she’d already felt despair.

She’d even closed her eyes, waiting for death.

But strangely, the pain she expected never came.

She tentatively opened her eyes and saw that the destructive laser had stopped.

The culprit, the sheep-headed monster, stared at her in utter confusion, as if it had seen something incredible.

Even Su Yu was dumbfounded.

She scanned her body in disbelief, finding nothing damaged except some burned clothes.

No wounds at all.

Even the usually composed Su Yu was shocked.

Her mouth dropped open.

‘Am I really a superhuman?’

“H-How is this possible?”

The monster’s state of mind shifted.

Refusing to believe it, it spat fire again, and a scorching sea of flames engulfed the girl.

‘Feels like I’m in a bath…’

Su Yu had never been this calm, even while surrounded by fire.

The facts were clear now.

Even if she was slow to react, she understood.

‘So this is the Magic Immunity Lin Mo mentioned? It even works against monster attacks?’

Did that mean… she was invincible now?

Time ticked by.

The flames gradually weakened.

Even a powerful monster couldn’t output continuously.

It stopped, staring at the raging fire, confident that no living thing could survive.

But before it could gloat, a petite yet striking figure stepped out of the flames.

“Man, that was a good sauna. Almost overheated me.”

Su Yu approached step by step, her face showing neither worry nor fear—only calm.

‘Time to pull off something big.’

She mimicked what she’d seen in manga, casually brushing dust off her clothes, never once looking at the monster.

“Too bad about my 20-yuan pants…”

“Impossible?!”

The monster’s face twisted in horror, its eyes wide, its massive body trembling uncontrollably.

Its proud attacks had done no damage.

“Who… who are you?!”

Su Yu felt a surge of satisfaction inside, the corners of her mouth curling up uncontrollably.

But she knew she couldn’t laugh yet.

“Me?”

“I’m just a hero for fun.”

“Hero…”

The sheep-headed monster seemed to catch the keyword.

Its muscular body started shaking uncontrollably, clearly enraged.

“A hero! Another hero! It’s you bastards who killed countless of my kind! You may be strong, but I’m not a vegetarian! Let’s die together!”

The monster made a huge decision.

It howled at the sky, and red cracks spread across its body.

Destructive energy seemed ready to burst forth.

Su Yu’s face changed.

She couldn’t let it unleash that ultimate move.

Not only could she get blown up, but there were still many civilians nearby who hadn’t escaped.

If she didn’t stop the monster, they’d surely die.

“Whatever, I’ll give it a try.”

She’d been busy all day and had little mana left.

An offensive spell might not have enough power.

But she remembered a skill she’d learned at school: “Wind Surge Technique.”

It was a simple control spell that made people fly.

Su Yu liked to call it “Black Hand.”

“Let’s get you airborne!”

She reached forward with one hand, and a magic circle appeared on the ground, summoning a towering cyclone.

The sheep-headed monster never expected her Zero-Frame Start.

Before it could react, it was swept into the night sky by the sudden whirlwind.

The monster’s self-destruction was irreversible.

All it could do was watch itself soar into the sky, feeling the uncontrolled energy erupt inside, and let out one last unwilling roar.

“Raaargh!”

A brilliant burst of fireworks bloomed in the city’s night sky, followed by shredded flesh and blood raining down from all directions.

A faint aroma of roasted meat lingered.

Su Yu sniffed and nearly drooled.

She hadn’t eaten or drunk a thing all day.

“Ah forget it. I’ll just go home and cook some instant noodles.”

One reason was her hunger; another was that the Agreement forbade her from drawing too much attention.

Being too conspicuous wasn’t a good thing.

She glanced around.

Since the matter was resolved, she couldn’t stay here.

The girl quickly left the scene, as if she’d never been there.

But what she didn’t realize was that, throughout it all, she’d never noticed the gaze fixed on her from not far away, lying on the ground.
