Fang Chenxi was very satisfied with the draft.
“Very nice. I’ll book another session next time.”
Fang Chenxi replied like that, but she didn’t receive a response from the artist on the other end.
That friend of hers had told her that the artist named lotus had a strange personality.
Ordinary artists were enthusiastic toward clients commissioning work, but she was different—always cold, as if she were the one doing the commissioning.
But because the quality of her drafts was outstanding, with a uniquely alluring style, clients kept coming to book appointments.
Fang Chenxi didn’t really care.
She wasn’t part of any circle anyway; as long as she got satisfactory drafts, that was fine.
Fang Chenxi’s brows furrowed.
Although she wasn’t a professional, she vaguely felt that this drawing was very similar in style to the one she had seen of Jiang Ling’s before.
Besides, her friend had said that lotus’s style was one of a kind.
Fang Chenxi wasn’t entirely sure.
Maybe she and Jiang Ling had actually commissioned the same artist.
If so, she’d have to find an opportunity to show Jiang Ling the draft she had commissioned.
Fang Chenxi put down her phone, slipped into her slippers, and went to wash up first.
Jiang Ling would be coming over soon, so she had to get herself ready nicely.
She couldn’t lose face in front of her little maid.
“Jiang Ling, it’s raining outside. Can’t you postpone the club activity to another day?”
Jiang Ling was about to head out, changing her shoes by the door, when she heard Lu Yuyao’s voice asking.
Lu Yuyao had just woken up.
After washing up and coming downstairs, she happened to run into Jiang Ling, who had finished cooking and was about to go out.
She was puzzled—why was Jiang Ling up so early on a weekend?
But Jiang Ling told her that their club had an off-campus activity today, and everyone in the club had to attend.
As she spoke, Jiang Ling’s gaze drifted uncertainly.
She actually hadn’t figured out how to explain to Lu Yuyao that she wouldn’t be back all day, so she could only use the Literature Research Society as an excuse.
“Can’t. I just got a message—Qingyan and the others are already at the place, and everyone’s waiting for me.”
After telling so many lies, Jiang Ling could now lie without batting an eye, her pale ankles stepping into white socks and then into low-top canvas shoes.
Lu Yuyao pouted, crossing her arms.
She had just woken up, and the collar of her nightgown was a bit messy, revealing large patches of fair skin.
Her somewhat flat chest barely showed any curve under the squeeze of her arms.
Seeing Jiang Ling say that, she got a little curious.
“Where are you guys going for the club activity? Can I join?”
It was raining anyway, so going out shopping would be inconvenient.
With Jiang Ling not home, she’d be even more bored.
“How can you call it ‘playing’?”
Jiang Ling suddenly put on a serious expression, her eyes wide, correcting Lu Yuyao’s words.
“We’re the Literature Research Society. The club activity is about discussing literary books. Besides, you’re not a member of our club, so it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to take you along.”
“Sounds super boring.”
“Hmph, if you won’t take me, I don’t want to go anyway.”
‘Good, she doesn’t want to go.’
Jiang Ling breathed a sigh of relief inwardly, then said, “Oh, and since it’s the first club activity, it might run a bit long. I’ll be staying over at Qingyan’s place tonight and coming back early tomorrow morning.”
Lu Yuyao’s beautiful eyes widened.
“You’re staying over? Can Qingyan’s place fit that many people?”
“No problem. Everyone in our club is a girl. Including Qingyan and me, that’s four people. Qingyan’s place has a spare room, and I’ll share a room with her. We can all stay.”
“What kind of activity requires an overnight stay?”
And she’d have to share a room with Qingyan.
But since Qingyan would be there, nothing bad should happen.
Ji Qingyan always had a cool demeanor, which made Lu Yuyao instinctively feel at ease.
Lu Yuyao muttered under her breath but gave up the idea of going along.
She just reminded, “Remember to take an umbrella. The weather forecast says the rain might last two days.”
Seeing that Lu Yuyao didn’t ask any more questions, Jiang Ling felt relieved.
She silently thanked Ji Qingyan.
‘Qingyan, Qingyan, you really saved me.’
“Okay, got it.”
To be safe, after leaving the house, Jiang Ling deliberately took a detour before sneaking over to Fang Chenxi’s villa and ringing the doorbell.
Fang Chenxi seemed to be waiting by the door.
As soon as the doorbell rang, the villa gate opened, and Fang Chenxi’s smiling face appeared, greeting her.
“You’re here?”
“Yeah.”
Jiang Ling wasn’t as cheerful as her and replied in a low voice.
Fang Chenxi was holding an umbrella and a package wrapped tightly in plastic, apparently just coming out to pick up the delivery and happening to run into Jiang Ling.
“Come in. You’re just in time.”
Fang Chenxi smiled brightly, and her words confused Jiang Ling.
What did she mean by “just in time”?
As if she had stumbled onto something good.
And Jiang Ling had guessed right.
“Just leave the umbrella by the door.”
Following Fang Chenxi’s instruction, Jiang Ling closed her umbrella, shook off the water droplets, and casually placed it on the floor next to Fang Chenxi’s.
“Have a seat.”
Jiang Ling suddenly felt nervous.
Being inside Fang Chenxi’s home felt like a lamb walking into the tiger’s den.
Thinking about her punishment, no matter how much she reassured herself that Fang Chenxi wouldn’t go too far, Jiang Ling still couldn’t calm down.
So she started looking around the room, trying to distract herself, which made her feel a bit better.
The interior of Fang Chenxi’s villa was almost identical to Lu Yuyao’s home.
Jiang Ling was taken aback for a moment, then remembered that Fang Chenxi was renting a ready-made villa.
It was possible that all the villas in this area had the same layout.
‘Tsk, it feels like I’m back home.’
Fang Chenxi came out of the kitchen carrying tea.
Her hairstyle today was demure—unlike her usual high ponytail, her smooth black hair was simply tied back with a hair tie and draped over her chest.
Fang Chenxi always gave her a very aggressive impression, but this hairstyle didn’t look out of place on her; instead, it added a gentle and virtuous beauty.
She placed the teacup on the coffee table, steam rising, a fragrant tea scent wafting.
“Are you going out later?”
“How could I be?”
Fang Chenxi smiled and sat down on the sofa, pressing close to Jiang Ling.
Jiang Ling frowned and subtly moved aside.
Fang Chenxi moved closer too.
Jiang Ling had no choice.
Jiang Ling had asked because she noticed Fang Chenxi wasn’t wearing pajamas.
She had on a tight long-sleeved tank top that showed off her figure, her full chest making it hard for Jiang Ling not to let her gaze stray when looking at her.
On the bottom, she wore fitted denim pants.
Fang Chenxi looked great in fitted pants like that.
Probably due to her regular exercise, her legs had smooth, long, and toned lines.
Jiang Ling had seen Fang Chenxi in shorts before—her legs had a healthy wheat color, but compared to most people, they were still fair and smooth, with a sense of strength.
Seeing her dressed so formally, Jiang Ling thought she was about to go out.
Jiang Ling pouted, almost thinking she had dodged the bullet.
“Let’s get down to business.”
Even though Fang Chenxi had been the one to take the initiative earlier, now she fell silent.
Fang Chenxi didn’t speak.
She just sipped her tea, her gaze seemingly drifting over Jiang Ling’s body absentmindedly.
Jiang Ling felt flustered by her silence.
If something was going to happen, let it happen quickly.
So she decided to bring up their bet directly.
“I said I’d wear a maid outfit and serve you for a day, but don’t go too far.”
“Mm-hmm. Open this and take a look.”
Fang Chenxi didn’t reply.
Instead, she tossed the package she had just picked up onto Jiang Ling’s lap, propped her chin on her hand, and gestured for Jiang Ling to open it.
“So mysterious.”
Jiang Ling already had a bad feeling, but she refused to lose face verbally.
Opening it was no big deal, so she ripped open the plastic packaging.
“Slow down. Don’t damage what’s inside. It wasn’t cheap.”
“If I break it, I’ll pay you back!”
But when Jiang Ling actually opened the package, she saw what seemed to be a set of clothes—black and white.
She instinctively looked up at Fang Chenxi, whose phoenix eyes held a teasing glint.
Jiang Ling’s hands trembled as she pulled the “clothes” out of the plastic bag.
It was clearly her work uniform for the day—a maid outfit.
But something seemed off.
When Jiang Ling spread the clothes over her legs, fully unfolding them…
It was different from the maid outfit she had at home.
Or rather, it was like a tight version of it.
The sleeves had been specially trimmed, and the waist and collar were adorned with lace, all reduced in size.
The fabric on the abdomen had artificial tears in several places.
There were even matching white thigh-high stockings… and the tops of the stockings had also been treated with a worn-out effect, as if they had been torn.
Even without putting them on, it inevitably sparked fantasies.
This was exactly the maid outfit from the drawing Lu Yuyao had made for her!
Jiang Ling was stunned.
So much for a normal maid outfit!
