Lan Hui’s face flushed deep red, her beautiful eyes glaring at him fiercely.
“You still complain that I take too long picking things out? Next time, go buy them yourself!”
Peng Kai said nothing, his kisses growing more passionate. Lan Hui, who had initially accepted him reluctantly, gradually became intoxicated, responding to him with equal fervor.
The next day, the alarm rang three times before Lan Hui was finally awakened. Irritated, she switched it off and was about to get up.
Her whole body felt like it was falling apart, pain making her grit her teeth.
If it weren’t for the shop being empty during the New Year, she would have gladly taken the day off.
She glanced sideways at Peng Kai, who was still sound asleep, the alarm failing to wake him.
She reached out and nudged him, “Kai-ge, it’s time to get up. If we’re late, we’ll be in trouble for work.”
After saying this, Lan Hui felt her throat dry and sore, unbearably uncomfortable. She quickly got out of bed and went to the living room to drink water.
Just after putting on her shoes, Lan Hui felt so unsteady that she could barely stand—her body no longer seemed like her own.
She gritted her teeth against the discomfort and hurried to the living room.
Clothes for both men and women were scattered all over the floor.
Every single piece was a reminder of how explosive last night had been between them.
Lan Hui had no mood to clean up. She briskly grabbed a bottle of mineral water and chugged it down.
The cool water slid down her throat, soothing the raw soreness as if a gentle caress had eased the pain, and she felt much better.
At that moment, Peng Kai came out of the bedroom. Seeing the clothes strewn about, his handsome face flushed briefly, and he bent down to pick up the garments one by one.
“Fu Fu, sorry about this. I woke up late today. I’m going to get you some hot water in the bathroom now.” Peng Kai placed all the clothes on the sofa.
“Let’s hurry up, or we’ll be late. I just called the bodyguard—he’ll bring breakfast in five minutes.”
Lan Hui nodded, tightening the cap on her water bottle. “Got it.”
Peng Kai finally noticed the unusual tone in her voice. “Fu Fu, your throat sounds hoarse. Are you coming down with a cold?”
Lan Hui shot him a sharp look. “Isn’t this all your fault?”
Peng Kai was confused. “My fault?”
Lan Hui ignored him, putting down the bottle on the coffee table and heading straight to the bathroom.
Peng Kai quickly followed. While Lan Hui brushed her teeth, he efficiently prepared the hot water.
Peng Kai wasn’t a fool; in fact, he was quite smart. After a moment of consideration, he finally understood what his girlfriend meant.
She was blaming him for being too wild and reckless last night.
Recalling the scenes from the previous night, warmth surged again within him.
Lan Hui did mean that—if he hadn’t kept pestering her until four or five in the morning, her throat wouldn’t be so sore now.
Brushing her teeth, looking at herself in the mirror, Lan Hui felt as if she had blossomed overnight—like a flower in full bloom, her cheeks glowing, a trace of charm blooming between her brows, even more beautiful than before.
The dark circles under her eyes couldn’t hide her beauty.
Soon, a knock came from the door.
Peng Kai set the hot water aside. “That must be the bodyguard with breakfast. I’ll get the door. Fu Fu, finish up quickly and come eat.”
Lan Hui nodded and sped up her brushing.

Three minutes later, Lan Hui finished and went out. Peng Kai had already laid out the breakfast and called her over.
“Fu Fu, come eat while it’s still hot.”
“Okay.” Lan Hui walked over and sat down casually.
The breakfast prepared by the bodyguard was abundant: seafood porridge, steamed buns, soy milk, tea eggs…
“Kai-ge, don’t worry about me. You go wash up quickly; we won’t have time otherwise.” Lan Hui bit into a bun and reminded him.
“Alright.” Peng Kai hurried to the bathroom.
In less than five minutes, Peng Kai came out after getting ready. Lan Hui had only eaten half of the breakfast. He sat beside her; their posture was intimate, and the atmosphere harmonious.
After breakfast, Lan Hui and Peng Kai went downstairs to work together. The bodyguard was already waiting downstairs and respectfully handed over the keys to the new car when he saw Peng Kai.
Lan Hui was stunned. “Kai-ge, Uncle moves so fast! You only said last night that you wanted a new car, and this morning it’s already here.”
Peng Kai took the keys and explained with a smile, “My dad really likes Rolls-Royce. There are several new ones parked in the garage at home. I just happened to want to switch to a Rolls-Royce, so he had the bodyguard bring it over. Very convenient.”
Lan Hui nodded.
“Fu Fu, come try it out?” Peng Kai gentlemanly opened the passenger door and gestured invitingly.
Lan Hui’s eyes curved with a smile. “Sure.” She got in directly.
A luxury car is expensive for a reason. It was in a completely different league from the Black Volkswagen—not just in appearance, but also the interior and seats. It was worlds apart.
Peng Kai watched the girl sitting in the car and smiled like a blooming flower. The corners of his mouth involuntarily lifted.
For the first time, he realized that accepting help from his family was actually a good choice.
He naturally took the driver’s seat, fastened his seatbelt, and played a soft melody.
Lan Hui noticed Peng Kai still hadn’t started driving and asked curiously, “Kai-ge, why aren’t you driving? We’ll be late if we wait.”
Peng Kai cleared his throat, seeming to gather his words, and finally said, “Fu Fu, how about you take the day off today and rest at home?”
Lan Hui was confused. “Why do you want me to take leave?”
Peng Kai’s handsome face flushed. “I saw you walking unnaturally. Forcing yourself to work will be really tough…”
Lan Hui immediately understood and blushed deeply, glaring at him fiercely. “That’s your fault.”
Only she was physically strong enough to get up after being with him until four or five in the morning. She just felt sore and walked awkwardly.
If it had been another girl, she would probably have been bedridden for three days or more, and worse cases might have needed hospitalization.
She couldn’t help but feel a bit lucky.
During the New Year, the shop was understaffed, and she had been running around almost every day helping moms with their baby massage appointments. Unknowingly, it had built her a strong body.
Peng Kai nodded. “It’s my fault, my fault. It’s all my fault. Then I’ll take you upstairs. You rest well at home, okay?”
Lan Hui shook her head. “I won’t rest. The shop has no one during New Year. If I take leave now, there’ll be chaos.”
She sighed. “The shop manager said two people will come back tomorrow, Sister Lan and the others, so then I can take a break.”
Most of the technicians are moms with kids. They work away from home all year and only return during the New Year to see their children.
Their leave can be quite long, some technicians even return to work only after the New Year.
Only a few come back early, so the staff on duty during the New Year are very busy.
Since his girlfriend said so much, Peng Kai had nothing to argue with. “Alright, I’ll take you to work now. Thanks for your hard work today.”
Lan Hui snorted twice without answering.
Peng Kai wasn’t angry; he was a bit guilty.
