They had been back in S City for days, and he hadn’t bought any. She almost forgot about it, but he had remembered all along.
Was he now deciding to truly be with her tonight?
Her heart raced, face flushed pink.
Well, if they were going to be together, then so be it. They’d come this far; it felt natural.
“Okay, let’s go.” Lan Hui agreed and walked beside Peng Kai. “Brother Kai, do you know what red wine tastes good?”
Peng Kai was caught off guard. “I’m not sure—I rarely drink red wine, mostly white wine and beer. Should I ask a staff member to recommend one?”
“No need. Let’s just pick something at a reasonable price.” She didn’t care much about wine and couldn’t tell good from bad.
“Alright.” Peng Kai scanned the shelves carefully and picked a bottle priced over two thousand yuan.
That was quite expensive for red wine in the supermarket.
Lan Hui felt a bit guilty, but Peng Kai said, “Good wine won’t give you a headache. Listen to me this time—our situation’s better now, no need to be stingy.”
Lan Hui smiled and nodded.
A generous boyfriend was something she certainly wouldn’t refuse.
They headed to the seasoning aisle. Lan Hui picked soy sauce and steaks. Just as they were about to check out, she spotted the family planning products section.
She took a deep breath, blushing as she said to Peng Kai, “Brother Kai, let’s go look over there.”
Since they’d decided to be together, they needed to be responsible.
Peng Kai had chosen the red wine; now it was her turn to pick out contraceptives.
Peng Kai was stunned and asked incredulously, “Fufu, where did you say you want to go?”
Blushing, Lan Hui pointed to the family planning section. “We’re still dating, still in school, and I don’t plan on having kids yet.”
Peng Kai’s heart warmed.
Thinking back to his red wine purchase, he realized she must have misunderstood his intention—that he was ready to be with her—so she took the initiative to buy contraceptives.
***
A surge of excitement coursed through him.
He had bought the wine on a whim, planning to bring it home and wait for the right moment to be with her.
Buying wine was something he would have done alone, but he’d been busy recently and took the chance to shop together today.
He hadn’t expected this misunderstanding.

But it was a beautiful misunderstanding.
By choosing contraceptives, she was showing acceptance in her heart.
That thought made Peng Kai almost euphoric.
“Okay.” His voice was deeper and huskier than before.
They walked toward the section. Lan Hui looked at the dazzling array of products, suddenly overwhelmed.
“Brother Kai, there are so many types. Which one do you use?”
Peng Kai was caught off guard. “I’ve never used any, so I don’t know.”
This time Lan Hui was stunned. “You…?” Could it be he never had sex with Gu Shinan? But they dated for seven years—how was that possible?
Peng Kai looked embarrassed. “I’m a decent guy. I never fool around.”
He was probably the unluckiest man alive—the first to date seven years and never sleep with his ex.
Back then, Gu Shinan was still in school and didn’t want to; she said she wanted to wait until marriage, and he respected her choice.
Lan Hui nodded seriously, her eyes smiling. “Got it. You’re very decent.”
Her words felt heavy. Peng Kai felt strange hearing them, thinking back to their first kiss when he lost control…
He suddenly felt guilty and hurried to explain, “Fufu, trust me—I really am decent.”
Lan Hui laughed and cried. “I really do believe you.”
Nowadays, it was common to be intimate in relationships. Peng Kai had no reason to lie.
She had just been shocked because system information was vague—it didn’t specify if Peng Kai had been physical with anyone.
She assumed he and Gu Shinan had slept together after seven years.
Their first kiss had been so overwhelming; the second time at the hotel, he was practically going crazy holding back.
She thought with his superhuman physique, it’d be impossible for him to remain a saint.
Peng Kai’s expression brightened considerably.
“Then let’s look around together and figure this out?”
Lan Hui said.
Peng Kai nodded. “Sure.”
Lan Hui scanned the shelves. “Brother Kai, there are so many flavors. I like strawberry. What about you?”
His girlfriend was seriously asking about such a sensitive topic. Peng Kai felt a flush of heat and a hoarse voice replied, “What flavors are there?”
Lan Hui answered, “Sweet orange, blueberry, banana, strawberry.”
Peng Kai said bluntly, “Give me one box of each.”
Lan Hui blushed deeply. “Isn’t that too many?”
Peng Kai said, “Keep them for later.”
Lan Hui nodded. “Okay. Now pick the size.”
Peng Kai went straight for the largest size.
Lan Hui’s eyes widened. She knew he was well-endowed, but seeing him pick the biggest size made her heart skip a beat.
“That’s about it. Let’s check out.”
“Okay.”
The checkout line was long. When it was Lan Hui’s turn, she took four boxes of condoms out of the cart, attracting quite a few stares.
Mainly because both she and Peng Kai were striking, and buying so many condoms was hard to ignore.
The cashier couldn’t help but smile secretly. Lan Hui’s face burned with embarrassment; she wished she could disappear.
Peng Kai shot the cashier a cold glare. His icy aura made the cashier quickly look down and focus on the items.
After paying, Lan Hui hurried toward the parking garage, with Peng Kai following behind.
“Fufu, slow down—you’re wearing heels. Be careful not to fall.”
She glared at him. “Next time, buy these things by yourself. I’m not going with you to be embarrassed.”
Peng Kai laughed. “Alright, I’ll come alone next time. Let’s go home now.”
Lan Hui rolled down the window to get some fresh air. Her face was still burning.
Back home, Peng Kai immediately opened the red wine and poured two glasses, handing one to his girlfriend.
“Fufu, try this two-thousand-yuan wine. They say red wine is good for beauty. A glass before bed is perfect.”

Lan Hui’s flushed cheeks deepened again. Beauty benefits from red wine? It was obvious he was trying to seduce her—it was clear to everyone.
“Thank you.” Lan Hui took the glass and gently swirled the deep red liquid.
“You drink first, I’ll go take a shower.” Peng Kai said, heading straight to his room for fresh clothes.
Thinking about what might happen tonight, Lan Hui felt nervous and quickly took a big sip.
It was true that you get what you pay for. The wine was fragrant and smooth, with a hint of sweetness and a rich body that surprised her.
She liked it. In less than five minutes, the whole glass was gone.
Peng Kai finished showering and came out. “Fufu, I’m done.”
Lan Hui nodded, setting down her glass. “My turn.”
Half an hour later, Lan Hui went to get a set of pajamas from her room and headed to the bathroom.
Just as she opened the bathroom door, Peng Kai was standing at the entrance.
Before she could say anything, he suddenly pressed her against the door, his handsome face looming closer and his warm lips instantly sealing hers.
The subtle scent of wine mingled with their breath.
Peng Kai’s voice was low and husky. “Brother Kai, don’t be so eager, we’re going back… to the bedroom.”
Lan Hui was truly overwhelmed by Peng Kai’s stormy passion.
His voice continued, thick with desire, “Not eager? How can I not be? Fufu, you kept me waiting half an hour in the family planning aisle. Do you know how much of a temptation that is for a man?”
