Even a student like Su Nian looked forward to the weekend, but Xiali was extremely dissatisfied. Because that dog of a man was still so noisy this early in the morning!
Su Nian had finished his morning jog according to his biological clock and was taking a shower. The weekend was for rest and relaxation, but also for doing what one wanted. Su Nian’s success came from the fact that what he always wanted to do was make himself better.
Hair mask, body lotion—aside from the usual body wash and shampoo, he only used these two extra products. Then before blow-drying his hair, he went through exfoliation, toner, serum, and moisturizer. Su Nian also planned to put on a face mask after breakfast, something he hadn’t done in a while.
It sounded troublesome, but actually, on school days, Su Nian just applied sunscreen and left, only doing his skincare routine when he came back in the evening.
Deciding not to disturb the little cat, he put in some curl cream and let his hair air-dry. His hair was naturally very curly and fluffy; sometimes, if it was too curly for school, he had to use a flat iron to straighten it a bit.
He went to the kitchen and lit the stove. There was milk and bread in stock; usually he would boil two eggs, but since it was the weekend and still early, he’d make some dumplings. On the way back yesterday, he had gone to the supermarket to buy some frozen dumplings and eggs. That stupid cat had picked out two big bags of snacks. He had coldly told her that if she picked them, she had to carry them herself, but then Xiali had made the snacks float back home.
Su Nian sighed, fished the dumplings into a large bowl and a small bowl, turned off the stove, and went to the bedroom. Xiali was sleeping on his pillow in a very un-catlike position—belly up, limbs stretched out, body curved like a crescent moon.
Su Nian helplessly pinched her pink little paw pads. ‘I wonder if they’ll still be pink after she shape-shifts.’
“Get up and eat breakfast first.”
The voice that countless girls would long for didn’t wake the cat. Instead, her paw pulled back from Su Nian’s hand and covered her face. Although Su Nian found it cute, he still picked up the cat strip and placed her on the table.
Still smelling the food, she quickly rose from a puddle-like state, stretched, and started devouring the large bowl in front of her. Su Nian knew very well that he couldn’t wake her by calling, but she could hear him and she liked it.
The two didn’t say much. Su Nian finished eating and left first; Xiali would use her ability to wash the dishes after finishing. Su Nian went to apply a clay mask. He planned to complete all the multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank questions for this week’s homework within the time the mask stayed on.
Since he planned to take time to tutor someone else, he wouldn’t give up his original arrangements; he would just try to be more efficient.
Yun Buran woke up groggily. As soon as she opened her phone, she was jolted fully awake—it was already noon. She hadn’t heard her alarm at all. Having planned to wake up early to doll herself up, Yun Buran walked into the bathroom, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
She started showering and tidying up quickly. Yun Buran didn’t know how to put on makeup, but she was still a refined girl. By the time she finished blow-drying her hair, she realized almost two hours had passed.
Seeing the message on her phone from Su Nian saying he had already left, she turned on the curling iron and frantically rummaged through her closet, hoping everything would be in time.
On the other side, Su Nian actually hadn’t left at all. He had simply anticipated everything and was just rushing Yun Buran.
Yun Buran finally chose a cool little tank top and denim shorts. Blushing, she thought, ‘Anyway, it’s hot today, and I’m at my own home. It should be fine, right?’
In the end, she just casually styled her bangs. Looking at her delicate little face in the mirror, she wasn’t satisfied at all.
‘If only I knew how to put on makeup,’ she sighed. She had planned to wear contacts, but she felt sure Su Nian would scold her.
Suddenly remembering that Su Nian had said he would cook her dinner, she quickly ran to the kitchen. Everything was clean, even brand new.
But then she had another thought and quickly opened the fridge. Sure enough, aside from some fruit and desserts, it was empty. Just as she was wondering if Su Nian would be embarrassed when he opened the fridge door, the doorbell rang. She nervously rushed to the door.
“Welcome.”
Yun Buran stood stiffly in front of Su Nian after opening the door, her pink toes involuntarily curling. It was her first time appearing so lightly dressed in front of a member of the opposite sex.
“Why are you blocking the door?”
Su Nian wasn’t a blockhead; in fact, he understood a girl’s mind better than many, many boys—so much so that it annoyed him.
“Oh, oh.”
Yun Buran awkwardly stepped aside to let Su Nian in. Su Nian put down his bag, saw the open refrigerator door, gently closed it, and said, “I’ll take you, miss princess, to buy groceries in a bit.”
Yun Buran blushed and said, “I’m not a princess!”
Without acknowledging her, Su Nian skillfully picked up his own cup, poured a drink, and prepared to head to her room.
“Are you just casually walking into your senior’s room like that?”
Yun Buran stressed the word “senior,” angry at Su Nian’s disregard and determined to regain the upper hand.
Su Nian chuckled. He turned around and slowly approached Yun Buran, his face getting closer and closer. Then he said, “Senior Yun Buran, please let me in, okay?”
Seeing Su Nian closing in, Yun Buran couldn’t help stepping back and stammered, “F-fine.”
“Heh.”
Su Nian gave her a contemptuous once-over, scanning her curvaceous figure from top to bottom, then left.
Yun Buran felt incredibly humiliated! She nearly couldn’t stop herself from covering her chest with her hands. She was both angry and thrilled by the disdainful look Su Nian had given her.
‘Why does a guy with such a nasty personality have to have that face?’
Su Nian sat down calmly and tossed the materials from his bag to Yun Buran, who was following behind.
Yun Buran took them. It was a very thick notebook for math and physics, as well as a set of New Concept Physics textbooks and the selected tough Gaokao problems he had printed and brought.
She placed them on the desk and began to flip through roughly. The notebook had an appendix that categorized Secondary Conclusions, competition methods, and college-level solutions by knowledge area, each with detailed derivation processes and example problems. The math and physics combined made one thick volume.
As for the New Concept Physics set, it looked brand new and extremely tidy, but when opened, it had neat annotations.
And finally, the problems he had mentioned yesterday—he really seemed to have compiled all kinds of major final exam questions from the past twenty years for her.
All of this made Yun Buran’s pouty expression soften. She couldn’t help gazing lovingly at that perfect face.
But the mouth on that face was poisonous.
“Don’t get overconfident. The notebook and textbooks are things I already had. The problems I organized were ones I was planning to do recently, and I just printed a copy for you on a whim.”
Su Nian said this while calmly drinking orange juice from a black mug that Yun Buran had prepared for him on his second visit.
Yun Buran clenched her teeth. Every time her feelings started to stir, he would pour cold water on her, and every time she felt jealous and dark, he would bring light.
This made Yun Buran feel that Su Nian was increasingly dangerous, but also addictive.
