“Ling Yue, can I go out for a walk?”
Feng Ling looked up and asked softly.
She was currently lying on the sofa scrolling through her phone, her two little legs kicked up and swinging back and forth.
The hem of her nightgown had slipped up to the top of her thighs, but she hadn’t noticed.
Ling Yue, sitting at the other end of the sofa, raised her eyes to look at her and asked gently, “Why do you suddenly want to go out?”
“It’s not that I really want to go out…”
Feng Ling rested her chin on the sofa cushion.
“It’s just that staying inside these past few days is getting a bit stuffy~ And last time, you said you’d take me out once my body had adjusted, remember?”
“Oh? Did I say that?”
“You did! Have you forgotten?”
Ye Lingyue tilted her head, seemingly genuinely trying to remember.
After a few seconds, she smiled and said, “It seems I did say that.”
“So when can we go out?”
Feng Ling bounced up from the sofa, propping herself up on her hands and looking at Ling Yue with hopeful eyes.
Ling Yue first lowered her head to take a sip of the liquid in her cup, then licked the blood from the corner of her mouth.
Only after finishing did she look up and give Feng Ling a gentle smile.
“Let’s wait a little longer.”
“Ah… still have to wait…”
Feng Ling’s shoulders slumped instantly.
“Can’t little Feng Ling wait any longer?”
“It’s not that I can’t wait… it’s just… I kind of want to see what it’s like outside. Staying inside all these days, I haven’t even seen the sun. I’m practically growing mold.”
“But vampires don’t grow mold, you know.”
“I know! I’m just using a figure of speech!”
Ling Yue looked at her puffed-out cheeks and chuckled softly.
She then set down her cup and beckoned to her.
“Come here.”
Feng Ling obediently scooted over.
Once she was close, Ling Yue pulled her into her embrace, letting her lean against her chest.
“If little Feng Ling really wants to go out, I’ll take you when the time is right… It’s just not very safe outside right now,” she said while gently tracing little circles on Feng Ling’s slender arm with her fingertip.
“Not safe? What’s unsafe about it?”
“While Blood Hunters are few, they’re not completely gone. Your aura isn’t stable yet. If they detect you, it would be troublesome.”
“Blood Hunters? Those people who specialize in killing vampires?”
“Mhm.”
“Are they very powerful?”
“They’re nothing to me, but for you, it’s a different story.”
Ling Yue’s finger stopped on the inside of Feng Ling’s arm, her fingertip lightly tapping the skin there.
“After all, little Feng Ling is still so weak right now. Any random Blood Hunter could just snatch you away~”
“I-I’m not weak! Not weak at all! I can even use Blood Blade to shatter a vase!”
Feng Ling immediately protested.
“That was a vase, not a Blood Hunter.”
“……”
It seemed she really couldn’t refute that.
Ling Yue looked down at her crestfallen expression, the smile at the corner of her mouth deepening.
Then, her fingers slid from the inside of Feng Ling’s arm to the back of her hand.
She took Feng Ling’s hand, turned it over, and looked at her palm.
“Also, little Feng Ling’s blood smells so delicious. What if other vampires catch its scent?”
“Other vampires?”
“Mhm. Some vampires aren’t as gentle as I am~ If they smell delicious blood, they’ll just grab you, lock you in a cage, and take a bite whenever they want to drink.”
Feng Ling shuddered.
“Th-that sounds terrifying…”
“That’s why I have to hide you away~”
Ling Yue pressed Feng Ling’s palm against her own cheek and gently nuzzled it.
“Little Feng Ling is so cute, so fragrant. Only I can protect you~”
Feng Ling felt a bit ticklish from the nuzzling and couldn’t help but laugh.
“Ling Yue, your face is so cold!”
“Vampires are naturally cold~”
“That’s true…”
Ling Yue lowered her hand and then pinched Feng Ling’s cheek… not hard, but her nails digging into the flesh still stung a little.
“So little Feng Ling must stay home obediently and not run around, understand?”
“Understood…”
“Good girl.”
Ling Yue released her pinch and kissed her forehead.
Feng Ling touched the spot that had been pinched…
She had an indescribable feeling in her heart…
What Ling Yue said seemed to make a lot of sense, but also felt a bit off somewhere.
She just couldn’t figure out what it was.
Then, she wriggled out of Ling Yue’s embrace and picked up her phone again.
The game on the screen had already auto-exited.
She tapped the game icon.
The loading screen spun a few times, and her character reappeared on the map.
“Oh, right, what blood were you drinking just now?”
She asked while controlling her character to run around the map.
“Human.”
“Human?!”
Feng Ling’s hand jerked, causing her character to fall off a cliff again.
Ling Yue looked at her shocked expression and laughed.
“Scared?”
“No… it’s just… where did you get it from?”
“I bought it.”
“Bought it?!” Feng Ling’s voice rose another octave.
“Vampires have special channels to buy blood. It’s not that unusual.”
Ling Yue picked up her cup and took another sip.
The crimson liquid slid down the inside of the cup into her mouth, making her throat bob slightly.
Feng Ling stared at her neck for a few seconds, then quickly averted her gaze back to the screen…
It probably wasn’t polite to stare at someone while they were eating.
“Does little Feng Ling want to try?”
Ling Yue suddenly asked.
“Try what?”
“Drinking blood.”
“Huh? I… can I drink it now?”
“You should be able to. It’s been a while since your transformation. Your body should have adjusted by now.”
Ling Yue offered the cup to her.
“Want a taste?”
Feng Ling took the cup and took a tiny sip.
“Whoa, wow! This is so good! Is this really blood? The kind that flows from a human body?”
Feng Ling’s eyes widened.
“Of course it’s delicious. Remember, we are vampires,” Ling Yue said.
“It’s so good I could climax on the spot!”
Feng Ling was still savoring the taste of the blood, but she soon noticed the cup was empty.
Ling Yue took the empty cup back.
“Alright, back to your game.”
“Oh…”
Feng Ling pouted in disappointment.
She then lay back on the sofa to continue gaming, but after playing for a bit, she suddenly remembered something.
“Hey, hey, you said Blood Hunters are rare now. Besides them, are there any other dangerous things?”
“There are.”
“Like what?”
“Vampires.”
“…Huh?”
“The conflicts between vampires are far more brutal than humans imagine. Territory, resources, status… anything can start a fight.”
Feng Ling gulped.
“So, little Feng Ling, you must stay by my side, okay? Only I can protect you~”
“Mhm… So, have you been in many fights before?”
“I have.”
“Did you win?”
“Of course I won. I’m a Progenitor. How could I possibly lose?”
“So amazing…”
Feng Ling looked at her with admiration.
Ling Yue felt a bit amused by her gaze and reached out to ruffle her hair.
“Alright, alright, don’t look at me like that~”
“Why not?”
“It makes me want to do bad things~”
Feng Ling was stunned for a moment.
Before she could process what “bad things” meant, she felt Ye Lingyue’s fingers slide down from her hair, along the curve of her ear, to the side of her neck, and stop there.
“Ling Yue? What are you doing?”
“Thinking about bad things…”
It took Feng Ling’s brain a couple of loops to understand what she meant.
Her little face instantly flushed red.
“L-Ling Yue! It’s daytime right now!”
“What about daytime? This castle has no windows. What’s the difference between day and night?”
“That’s true, but…”
Ling Yue chuckled at her flustered state and withdrew her hand.
“Just kidding.”
Feng Ling sighed in relief, but at the same time felt a twinge of disappointment.
No, no, what am I thinking!
She buried her face in the cushion and mumbled, “Ling Yue, you’re too much…”
“How am I too much?”
“You just are! Hmph!”
Ling Yue then reached out and pulled her out of the cushion.
She rubbed Feng Ling’s flushed cheek with her thumb and said with a smile, “Little Feng Ling is so cute~”
“Not cute!”
“Cute.”
“Not cute at all!”
“Should we look in a mirror to see who’s right?”
Feng Ling glared at her indignantly, but with that little face and puffed-out, rosy cheeks, it held absolutely no intimidation.
Then Ling Yue rubbed her cheek again.
As her fingertip brushed past Feng Ling’s lips, it accidentally made a tiny cut.
Before Feng Ling could even cry out in pain, Ling Yue had already lowered her head and pressed her lips against Feng Ling’s, directly licking away the blood droplet that was about to form.
Feng Ling froze completely.
“Does it hurt?”
Ling Yue looked up and asked.
“N-no…”
Feng Ling whispered.
“That’s good.”
Ling Yue gently pressed her finger against Feng Ling’s lips again.
“Little Feng Ling’s blood really is delicious~”
At this moment, Feng Ling’s brain had completely short-circuited.
Only when Ling Yue released her hand and sat back at the other end of the sofa did she snap out of it.
She buried her face in the cushion and let out a muffled huff.
As for Ling Yue, watching her squirm in the cushion, the smile on her lips deepened…
Turning Xu Feng into a loli was definitely the right choice.
