Chapter 8: Everyone Loves Her

“Bubble Shadow…”

Facing the exquisite girl before him, Duya couldn’t help but hold his breath.

The catastrophe from the sanctuary several years ago flashed through his mind once more.

Having been a firsthand witness to that tragedy, he had naturally seen those horrifying, atrocious scenes.

But then again… why was she wearing only lingerie?

“Wouldn’t it have been better if you just let me knock you out?”

Bubble Shadow looked at Duya’s vigilant and hostile gaze.

Her face remained expressionless, and she merely shrugged as she spoke.

“It would have saved me the extra trouble.”

As they spoke, a large amount of white steam suddenly erupted inside the bathroom.

Duya sensed something was wrong.

He hurriedly covered his mouth and nose, but it was already too late.

Without a gas mask, clothing alone could not block the encroachment of such gas.

Due to the inhalation of an excessive amount of the unknown substance, Duya’s vision grew blurry bit by bit.

He struggled to prop himself up, but Bubble Shadow stepped on his chest with her bare foot, pinning him to the ground.

She pressed a wooden club against his chest, denying him any chance to stand.

The girl leaned over, her white hair falling downward, and a pathological smile appeared on her porcelain-doll-like face.

“Did you think you were hunting me?”

“No, no, no. The prey… is you.”

Following the girl’s soft laughter, Duya felt his consciousness slipping away until he finally fell completely into a coma.

On the other side, seeing that Duya had lost consciousness, Fuyeli did not take any further action.

As mentioned before, the mental resolve of an S-rank Investigator was not so easily shattered.

Even if she were to tear his body to pieces right now, rub him against the floor ten or one hundred times, or humiliate his character and soul, it would all be in vain if his spirit did not break.

Besides, Fuyeli had no interest in throwing herself at him.

Even if he was very strong, he could still easily die at the hands of some grotesque creature for no reason.

He was her person, her sacrifice, and she would absolutely not tolerate other grotesque creatures spying on him.

Therefore, Fuyeli had to provide him with complete insurance.

And the best way… was to monitor him forever through his phone.

The grotesque looked back and saw a moth, less than half a meter in size, flying behind it.

Its gaze was confused; its primitive brain seemingly unable to comprehend what had happened.

Just as it froze in a daze, Fuyeli punched it in the head again.

“Change back this instant!”

After all, this grotesque was using her body.

Even though she had done so to set a trap, the prey was now caught, and Fuyeli could not allow this monster to use her body to provide fanservice for Duya.

But the monster clearly had not yet reacted.

It looked at the half-meter-long moth and began to snarl, resembling a hunting dog about to attack.

However, before it could initiate its attack, it was struck on the forehead by Fuyeli once more.

After three swift strikes from the “farm girl,” the grotesque finally came to its senses.

Looking at the Fuyeli flying in mid-air, it seemed to realize her identity.

The creature returned to its original form, tucked its tail between its legs, and scurried out of the bathroom.

“Next… I need to play the role of a saint.”

There was no helping it.

Who else but her could be the fairy that everyone loves, the flowers bloom for, and cars— Bah!

As she spoke, Fuyeli knelt beside Duya, folded her hands, and interlaced her fingers.

Accompanying her soft whispers, a vast expanse of blood-red patterns appeared beneath Duya.

As the magic circle activated, a blinding red light flared up, engulfing both of their figures.

When the light faded, only an empty bathroom remained.

No one knew how much time had passed when Duya’s consciousness slowly returned.

He felt sharp, stabbing pains in his brain, and memories flashed by like fragments.

The white-haired girl… the monster covered in eyeballs, and the unknown gas that rendered him unconscious…

Bubble Shadow?!

“Damn it…”

Duya gritted his teeth and propped his body up.

The aftereffects of the toxic gas caused his vision to blur with static, and the dizziness remained intense.

However, just as he sat up, he noticed a small blanket covering his stomach.

Upon seeing the blanket, Duya was stunned.

Only then did he realize that the place where he was lying was not the eerie, terrifying bathroom, but a sunlit meadow.

Where was this?

Had someone saved him?

“You’re awake?”

Just as Duya was feeling perplexed, a familiar voice rang out.

He looked back and saw a tiny fairy, less than half a meter tall, carrying a basket of fruit in her two hands, wobbling toward him as she flew.

Seeing the fairy, Duya froze.

“Fuyeli?”

“I really didn’t expect you to remember me, Player.”

Fuyeli wore a smile as gentle as a spring breeze, and her voice was like music.

Although Fuyeli was very small, her beauty was not lacking at all, and it was certainly not any less than that damned Bubble Shadow… no, wait, she was a hundred times better looking than that monster.

“Did you save me?”

“I suppose you could say that. I discovered that you seemed to be in danger, so I activated a magic circle to transport you here.”

While handing over the basket, Fuyeli pointed to the magic formation not far away.

“Is that so…”

Duya took the basket.

The shape of the fruit was a bit strange, and he did not know if it was poisonous, so he did not eat any; he simply set it aside.

“Have you seen a white-haired, purple-eyed bastard who is deeply annoying?”
