Dafeil arrived at the prison where Emily was being held as quickly as she could.
After all, in Dafeil’s view, she really didn’t have much time to waste on a Saintess like Emily.
She had to resolve the trouble that was Emily as quickly as possible so she could move on to dealing with the human invasion.
Just as Dafeil was about to step into the prison, however, the soldiers stationed at the entrance suddenly blocked her path.
“What are you doing?”
Seeing that the soldiers actually dared to stop her, Dafeil was naturally quite displeased.
Facing Dafeil’s anger, the soldiers naturally trembled.
However, they still gathered their courage and spoke.
“Lady Dafeil, the Lady Demon King has issued an order! No one other than herself is allowed to enter this prison!”
“Anyone? Even me?”
Dafeil was truly surprised to hear the soldiers’ words.
Similar situations had happened in the past, but at that time, Natalie hadn’t been “possessive” to this extent.
‘It seems the Lady Demon King’s interest in that Saintess might be much greater than I imagined.’
This realization made Dafeil even more anxious.
After all, the more Natalie was obsessed with the Saintess, the more state affairs would be neglected.
“Yes… We are truly sorry. Please do not make things difficult for us, My Lady…”
“It’s nothing. I’ll leave.”
Seeing that Dafeil had no intention of forcing her way in, the soldiers all breathed a sigh of relief.
If Dafeil had chosen to force her way through, the soldiers wouldn’t have been able to stop her at all.
Having failed in their duties, they had no idea how Natalie would punish them.
Of course, how could Dafeil leave so easily?
After she walked around a corner where the soldiers could no longer see her, Dafeil used magic to turn herself invisible.
Then, she walked past the soldiers with impunity and headed straight for Emily’s cell.
***
Inside the cell, Emily was fearing how Natalie would deal with her next.
Although Emily had successfully escaped a crisis due to the soldier’s report earlier, Natalie’s parting words made Emily realize she had only gained a temporary respite.
‘Ahhh, seriously! There’s no way out of this!’
Although she had been thinking of a countermeasure for a while, no ideas had actually come to her mind.
Emily had also tried to contact the God, but she failed.
While Emily, as the Saintess, was indeed the only person in this world who could contact the God to receive oracles, it required a ritual and a statue of the God to act as a medium.
In a prison cell, she couldn’t perform a ritual, and there was naturally no statue.
‘Am I just waiting for death…? There’s no way Miss Hadia will be able to rescue me before the Demon King makes her move…’
The more she thought, the more despair Emily felt.
Just then, the sound of hurried footsteps suddenly reached Emily’s ears.
The moment she heard the footsteps, Emily instantly became tense.
Her heart began to race uncontrollably.
Finally, the footsteps stopped in front of the cell door.
However, Emily didn’t see anyone appear.
‘That’s strange. I clearly heard footsteps, but there’s no one there?’
While Emily was confused, Dafeil dispelled the invisibility magic she had cast on herself.
Since she was already in front of Emily, there was no longer any need to stay hidden.
Emily stared at Dafeil, who had appeared out of thin air.
‘Is that a dark elf? Why isn’t it the Demon King?’
The sudden appearance of a strange dark elf left Emily somewhat bewildered.
But the next moment Emily’s eyes met Dafeil’s, she suddenly felt an intense killing intent.
Because the killing intent was so overwhelming, Emily had the illusion that she had already died at Dafeil’s hands.
Under Dafeil’s powerful aura, Emily even forgot to breathe.
She couldn’t understand why someone she had never met before would have such a high level of killing intent toward her!
It was as if she were her father’s killer.
Of course, it was normal for Emily not to know.
It involved the history of humans persecuting dark elves.
Emily had only been in this world for a little over one year.
Without actively investigating, she naturally wouldn’t know about the history of the dark elves.
To Dafeil, Emily, the Saintess, was her sworn enemy!
After all, the actions to persecute the dark elves had been led by the Church.
And the Saintess was the figure in the Church whose status was second only to the Pope.
Originally, Dafeil thought she could more or less endure her hostility toward Emily.
After all, the priority now was dealing with the human invasion.
But the moment she saw Emily’s nun’s habit, Dafeil’s composure shattered.
Dafeil deeply criticized her own immaturity.
If she interrogated Emily while filled with hatred and killing intent, she might accidentally use too much force and beat her to death.
But it was truly difficult for Dafeil to feel nothing!
The moment she saw Emily, images of her clansmen and relatives who had died miserable deaths at the hands of the Church appeared in her mind.
The scenes of their final moments were etched into Dafeil’s mind; she even dreamed of them every night.
Carrying this intense hatred, Dafeil used magic to forcefully break open the cell door.
Seeing Dafeil’s aura, Emily was about to do something, but in the next instant, countless magical vines bound her limbs.
By the time Emily realized what was happening, her entire body was suspended in midair by the vines, with her hands and feet forced wide apart.
Under Emily’s bewildered and terrified gaze, Dafeil arrived in front of her.
However, just before acting, Dafeil took a deep breath, forcing her vengeful heart to calm down a little.
After all, she wasn’t here to kill Emily, but to extract information about the God from her.
With that in mind, Dafeil placed her hand directly on Emily’s forehead.
She planned to use mental control magic to forcefully manipulate Emily’s spirit and make her honestly reveal everything she knew.
Of course, Dafeil wasn’t entirely sure if she would just kill Emily to vent her anger after obtaining all the information.
However, the moment the mental control magic circle expanded, it shattered.
One of the divine protections the God had given Emily was immunity to all forms of spirit-manipulation magic.
“*Tsk*, divine protection?!”
Realizing she couldn’t obtain information through mental control, Dafeil had no choice but to resort to physical torture, even at the risk of accidentally killing Emily.
Following this thought, a magical whip appeared in Dafeil’s hand.
Seeing this scene, Emily was naturally panicked to the extreme.
“Saintess, if you honestly confess everything you know, you might suffer less pain!”
“…”
If she could, Emily really wanted to blurt out everything she knew, but because of the God’s presence, no matter how scared she was, she had to hold it in.
At the very least, before being beaten, it was impossible for Emily to reveal any information to Dafeil.
“Is that so? You have more backbone than you look. Then let’s see how long you can last!”
Having said that, Dafeil swung the whip directly at Emily’s delicate skin.
