After discovering Ying Yun’s sinister intentions, Yang Xueyi naturally cut all ties with him immediately.
There was absolutely no way they could continue strolling through the spring garden fair together.
She turned hostile on the spot and insisted they go their separate ways.
But after parting ways and wandering alone for a while, Yang Xueyi still felt irritated thinking about Ying Yun. When she received a call from Qiao Qianqian expressing concern, she couldn’t help but rant for a long time—
“Ying Yun is really narrow-minded! He can’t stand seeing me with someone else just because he has no partner himself! Such a twisted mindset!”
“A modern-day version of the farmer and the snake! Looks human enough, but his heart is incredibly malicious!”
“The worst part is, when I said I didn’t want to walk with him, he just stared at me blankly for a moment and then actually turned and walked away!”
On the other end, Qiao Qianqian was both amused and exasperated: “Well, you told him to leave, and he listened and left. Isn’t that pretty sensible?”
“How is that sensible! This guy was caught red-handed ruining my love life, and he didn’t even apologize!”
Yang Xueyi became more and more angry as she spoke: “If he had gotten down on his knees, begged for my forgiveness, admitted his mistakes, and sworn to change, I might have forgiven him—maybe even mercifully let him continue walking with me. But Ying Yun had no intention of apologizing! He never wanted to change! His character is just too low!”
Unfortunately, Qiao Qianqian was busy with her photography assignments and could only comfort Yang Xueyi briefly, unable to accompany her.
After hanging up, Yang Xueyi sulked and had no choice but to continue wandering alone.
This spring garden fair was much larger than she had imagined.
As she walked, she quickly pushed Ying Yun’s troubles far out of her mind, buying quite a few creative little trinkets along the way, reaping a good haul.
Just as her mood started to lift, a male voice suddenly pulled her cheerful spirit back down to earth—
“Yang Xueyi!”
At first, the tone was uncertain, but when Yang Xueyi instinctively turned around, the voice became firm and venomous.
“Yang… Xue…yi, so it really is you!”
At that very moment, Yang Xueyi saw the face clearly.
It was Li Junxin.
Almost simultaneously, Yang Xueyi sprinted away.
But no matter how fast she was, she was no match for Li Junxin.
Two minutes later, he caught her.
Earlier, to avoid the crowd, Yang Xueyi had been walking against the flow on a less-traveled path in the garden fair.
She hadn’t noticed before, but now realized she had long since left the main road.
The surrounding stalls were mostly self-service order stations, the area sparsely populated, with hardly any other visitors.
She shouted twice, “Help!”
But the few passersby nearby were quickly pacified by Li Junxin’s explanation: “She’s my girlfriend; we’re just having a quarrel.” Not wanting to get involved, they walked away.
Seeing no one else around, Li Junxin’s smile faded. His face darkened as he stared at Yang Xueyi.
“You little bitch, using me, making a mess of my family, causing my dad to get fired. And you yourself just quit your job! I was even planning to come find you and settle scores, but now, here you are, coming right to me.”
“You played me like a monkey back then, thinking you were so clever, huh? Now you’ve been caught; just consider yourself unlucky…”
As he spoke, Li Junxin roughly grabbed Yang Xueyi by the arm, dragging her toward a small grove of trees.
The scandal involving Li Junxin and his father had been posted online by a bystander who filmed the incident.
Their family’s reputation was completely ruined, tangled in chaos.
Li Junxin must have hated Yang Xueyi with a deep, burning hatred.
Yang Xueyi had no time to think of anything else and fought desperately for her life.
Unfortunately, as if fate was mocking her, Li Junxin was deliberately searching for the left hand that Yang Xueyi had previously dislocated when his father had searched her.
Her hand was barely recovered and couldn’t exert any strength.
Seeing herself being dragged toward the small grove was almost inevitable.
A wave of despair and fear washed over her…
Against Li Junxin’s brutal force, Yang Xueyi was utterly defenseless.
She began to feel deep regret and fear.
Once dragged into a secluded grove, who knew what would happen?
Getting beaten might have been the best-case scenario…
Yang Xueyi’s violent resistance only fueled Li Junxin’s anger.
He had long discarded any pretense of mercy and now looked ferocious.
“You damn well be sensible!”
As he said this, he raised his hand toward Yang Xueyi’s face—
He was about to slap her.
Unable to break free, Yang Xueyi almost instinctively closed her eyes.
But the imagined pain never came.
No sound of a slap echoed; instead, a cold voice cut through—
“Li Junxin, assaulting a woman in public? Do you want to be headline news?”
Opening her eyes, Yang Xueyi saw Ying Yun standing behind her, blocking Li Junxin’s hand just in time.
Li Junxin obviously still wanted to attack.
His face flushed red from exertion, but Ying Yun easily restrained him, barely using any effort.
With a slight force, Ying Yun threw Li Junxin aside like a rag doll.
He glanced at Yang Xueyi coldly, then roughly pulled her behind him.
Turning, his expression was icy as he stared at Li Junxin.
Rubbing his wrist and grimacing in pain, Li Junxin suddenly noticed Ying Yun and Yang Xueyi wearing matching couple outfits and couldn’t help but sneer.
“Bro, weren’t you also fooled by this little bitch, huh? Falling for her tricks?”
Li Junxin’s tone was venomous.
“Yeah, she looks good, has a nice figure, and has some capital. But she’s a bad omen. Anyone who gets involved with her ends up with a messed-up life.”
He looked at Ying Yun, smirking sarcastically: “Bro, you slept with her, didn’t you? This kind of woman—you just play around a few times. She’s not some decent person.”
Yang Xueyi was sure Li Junxin was finished for good.
Ying Yun rarely clarified rumors, but the one he absolutely hated was when people linked him with Yang Xueyi.
In the past, when people said she was Ying Yun’s childhood betrothed, he always looked very displeased.
Sure enough, at Li Junxin’s words, Ying Yun’s face immediately darkened, his expression turning frighteningly gloomy.
“Li Junxin, can’t your family afford some toilet cleaner? How long has it been since you washed your mouth?”
Li Junxin didn’t expect Ying Yun to respond like this, but after a brief pause, he continued to explain: “Bro, this woman isn’t a good thing. Back at Beihai Dao, she was secretly seducing me. But who would’ve thought she’d seduce my dad first? Now my parents are on the verge of divorce, and my dad lost his job because of it. Didn’t expect her to come after you next!”
This was a complete distortion of the facts!
Just as Yang Xueyi wanted to clarify, Ying Yun spoke first, cold and icy: “I’m related to you guys, but that doesn’t mean I share your stupidity.”
His words were extremely rude.
Even Li Junxin’s face fell a little.
Usually, he would have sulked away like a magpie, but this time, he stared at Ying Yun for a moment, then laughed mockingly.
“Ying Yun, don’t think just because I call you ‘bro’ that you really are one.”
“Don’t tell me you thought I was nice to you before because you’re my bro?”
“The only reason I cut you some slack before was out of respect for your dad! Now your dad’s no longer your dad, and you still act like some rich heir? With your behavior now, I’m being nice calling you ‘bro’, and you don’t even have the decency to appreciate it. You really think I’m here to shine your shoes?”
“Do you really think this little bitch is some treasure? Can’t I say two words about her?”
He stared at Yang Xueyi and suddenly smiled.
“But does she even know what’s going on at your place?”
Without waiting for a response, Li Junxin turned to look at Yang Xueyi, as if seeing right through her and waiting to see her shocked expression.
Triumphantly, he said: “You don’t know, do you, Yang Xueyi? My ‘bro’ is broke now. He’s a bastard born from his mom and some other guy. Yuan Yang Freight has nothing to do with him anymore. You thought you were clinging to a big shot, but you were just wasting your time…”
“Li Junxin, whether you have money or not, I don’t care for you. You and your dad are just as low as each other. Only your blind mother would put up with you.”
“As for seducing you,” Yang Xueyi recalled Qiao Qianqian’s teasing and retorted, sticking out her tongue, “You look weak all over, kidney problems written all over your face. Either premature ejaculation or impotence or weak sperm—who would want to seduce a limp noodle like you? Save your energy and money and buy some Viagra.”
After finishing, Yang Xueyi grabbed Ying Yun’s arm and ran before Li Junxin could react.
They ran at full speed for fifteen minutes.
Once Yang Xueyi was sure they had shaken Li Junxin off, she finally stopped, panting heavily.
She looked at Ying Yun and realized that after running so long, he still looked calm and collected, neither flushed nor out of breath.
To be fair, his lung capacity was impressive.
Yang Xueyi thought fairly, Ying Yun could probably hold a kiss for a long time.
Ugh, hanging out with Qiao Qianqian too long, her thoughts were getting all mixed up with nonsense like that!
Feeling a little guilty, Yang Xueyi looked at Ying Yun, only to find him looking back at her seriously.
Their eyes met.
Yang Xueyi didn’t know why she felt nervous, as if afraid Ying Yun would see what she was thinking, so she quickly looked away.
Although Ying Yun’s heart was wicked and he had ruined her romantic prospects, he had stepped up at a critical moment and pulled her away.
That was enough, at least.
“Yang Xueyi.”
Sure enough, Ying Yun broke the silence.
He stared at her and then stepped closer.
“Your shoulder, want me to take a look?”
Perhaps still a bit awkward from having been publicly snubbed by Li Junxin, Ying Yun looked at the ground and said, “He was searching the arm you dislocated before. Anyway, I’m an orthopedic doctor.”
Yang Xueyi waved him off.
Though her shoulder still ached a little, moving it now didn’t cause much trouble.
But…
Yang Xueyi seized the chance: “How could I dare let you check it, Dr. Ying? Didn’t you say I’m not allowed to see you anymore and to find another doctor? Maybe I’ll wait until we get back and see Yu Shi from your department.”
Ying Yun’s tone grew a bit embarrassed but his expression remained calm: “Yang Xueyi, why do you always like to dig up old grievances?”
Just as Yang Xueyi thought he was going to say something about gratitude or give a moral lecture telling her to know when to stop, Ying Yun continued with the next sentence, “Yu Shi isn’t as good as me.”
