Dior patrolled the area outside the city. The more he pondered, the heavier the unease in his heart grew.
Memories of his past life surged through his mind like a frantic tide.
In his previous life, although his sister Rose was initially forcibly converted by Horn, she had eventually surrendered herself to the power and immortality of the vampires. She had thoroughly embraced the dark faction, severing all ties with humanity.
She and their younger sister, Dini, had walked two diametrically opposed paths.
Dini had clung to the final dignity of her humanity, bitterly pleading for her brother to grant her a merciful death with his own hands. Rose, however, had become completely lost in the temptation of power and eternity, personally cutting the last thread of connection to her family and her human nature.
In this life, because of his intervention, Rose and Dini had escaped the fate of being abducted by Spade and the others.
However, during this period, he had been so busy purging the remaining vampires, repairing the city defenses, and reassuring the citizens that he had indeed neglected to keep a close eye on Rose’s movements.
Today, she had suddenly and enthusiastically invited Dini out to play, and under circumstances where the situation was not yet fully stable… this was highly unusual!
Rose was his half-sister, and their relationship had never been particularly close.
Although Sarah, Emma, Swan, and Ize were with them, the fear of history repeating itself—a fear rooted deep within his soul—constantly gripped his heart, making it impossible for him to sit still.
“Master Dior!”
A family knight came galloping toward him, his face filled with anxiety.
“News just came from the watchtower! Lady Rose, Lady Dini, and several of your classmates have left the inner city together!”
“What?!”
Dior’s pupils constricted, and his voice instantly turned cold. “Weren’t they just supposed to be wandering around the commercial district? Why did they leave the city? Why didn’t you stop them?!”
The knight hastily explained, “Please calm your anger, Master! By the time the watchtower spotted them, Lady Rose and the others were already far away. The brothers on duty immediately sent me to report; there was simply no time to stop them!”
Dior suppressed the shock and anger in his heart, quickly asking for the direction the group had taken.
The next moment, the Battle Qi around his body erupted. His figure turned into a bolt from a drawn bow, tearing through the air as he raced in that direction at his maximum speed!
He did not dare delay for even a second. The desperate yet pure gaze in Dini’s eyes when she was converted in his past life flashed through his mind like a recurring nightmare.
When he finally reached the scene, his gaze pierced through the thin twilight. He instantly locked onto the face he hated to his very core—the face he could never mistake—Horn!
In the clearing, Sarah, Emma, and Swan were doing their best to deal with the low-level vampires swarming from all sides. They were completely unaware that the greatest danger was not those grunts, but the seemingly harmless “Kyle.”
A pleasant smile hung on Horn’s face as his sharp fangs slid out. He was silently reaching toward Dini’s back, who was protected in the center and knew nothing of the danger!
‘NOOO!’
A silent roar erupted in Dior’s heart. The scene of his sister’s conversion from his past life almost overlapped with the sight before him! Without any hesitation, the surging Battle Qi in his body poured out, condensing entirely onto his sword’s edge!
He let out a furious roar and unleashed a heaven-shaking strike that carried the resentment of two lifetimes and his infinite will to protect!
The blazing sword light was like the dawn tearing through the night, slashing with unerring precision between Horn and Dini. The powerful impact not only left a deep trench in the ground but also forced Horn back several steps, successfully separating him from Dini!
“HORN! GET AWAY FROM HER!!!”
Ize, who was hiding in the shadows, couldn’t help but secretly praise that thunderous strike.
‘Senior Dior’s timing… it’s almost like he calculated it! Does he have some kind of protagonist luck too?’
Whether it was the timing, the power, or that unstoppable momentum, the strike was perfect.
‘No wonder he could kill a vampire executive before. This strength is indeed ridiculously high… it makes me want to switch to martial arts.’
Of course, it was just a passing thought. He knew he didn’t have that kind of talent and could only hope to save up enough protagonist points to see if he could randomly exchange them for powerful martial techniques in the future.
Everyone’s gaze was instantly drawn to Dior, who had descended like a god of war.
“Brother Dior!” Dini cried out, as if finding her strongest support. She ran over with tears in her eyes and tightly hugged Dior’s arm, her small face pale with fright.
Dior gently patted the back of his sister’s hand to comfort her, but his gaze remained fixed on Horn like the sharpest blade. The hatred in his eyes was almost like a physical flame, threatening to burn the opponent to ashes!
Horn narrowed his eyes, a flash of obvious displeasure crossing them at having his fun interrupted. From Spade’s description, he immediately deduced Dior’s identity.
“Tsk… So, you’re the big guy who killed those cute subordinates of mine?”
Horn’s voice remained lazy, yet it now carried a hint of icy killing intent. “But, I’m quite curious… This should be our first formal meeting, right? How do you know my name?”
Horn’s words, which were equivalent to identifying himself, exploded like a clap of thunder in the ears of Sarah, Emma, and Swan!
Everyone’s expressions turned incredibly grim. A chill traveled from the soles of their feet to the tops of their heads!
This “Kyle”… was actually a vampire!
Ize’s previous suspicions and warnings were all correct!
The thought that they had been traveling unguarded with such a dangerous vampire, and had almost been led into a trap—especially with what almost happened to Dini—sent cold shivers down Sarah and the others’ spines. Cold sweat instantly soaked their clothes.
Dior shielded Dini firmly behind him. His voice was hoarse, containing a towering rage that had been suppressed for far too long.
“You piece of trash… You don’t need to know! Today, right here, will be your grave!”
His hideous expression and the deep-seated hatred—as if all the water in the world couldn’t wash it away—caused Horn a moment of strange bewilderment.
‘What’s wrong with this guy? I haven’t even made a lethal move against the Betty family yet. Why does he look like I killed his entire family and share an irreconcilable blood feud with him?’
Dior took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing the urge to immediately rush forward and fight Horn to the death. He turned to Sarah, who had quickly cleared the surrounding low-level vampires and drawn closer.
“Senior Sarah, my sister… I’ll leave her to you!”
Sarah’s face was full of guilt and lingering fear. “Dior, I’m sorry! We just…”
“It’s not your fault,” Dior interrupted her, his voice low. “These beasts are simply too cunning.”
His gaze suddenly turned toward Rose, whose expression was shifting erratically. His eyes were filled with disappointment, heartache, and finally, a cold resolve.
“What’s even more hateful is… that our Betty family actually produced a traitor who was willing to abandon their humanity and lead a wolf into the house!”
Rose’s body trembled violently. She tried to maintain her composure and defend herself. “Dior! What… what nonsense are you talking about! How could I possibly…”
“Stop acting, Rose!”
Dior’s voice was decisive, carrying a coldness that saw through everything. “I already know! You joined Horn and voluntarily became a vampire! All for that fake eternal life, unchanging appearance, and this nauseatingly filthy power, isn’t it?!”
Having been ruthlessly and completely exposed by Dior, the last trace of color drained from Rose’s face.
She fell silent for a moment. Then, suddenly, the suppressed aura around her body changed abruptly!
Dense, blood-colored energy surged out like a tide. Her eyes instantly turned a complete crimson, and sharp vampire fangs were revealed at the corners of her mouth.
She no longer hid it, completely revealing her true form as a vampire!
“Hehe… Hehehe…”
Rose let out a string of low, eerie laughter. The remaining trace of human emotion seemed to evaporate, replaced by the coldness and arrogance of a vampire.
“Since you’ve found out, there’s no need for me to pretend anymore.”
This scene once again sent a massive shock and a wave of disbelief through Sarah, Emma, and Swan.
Rose… she had truly and voluntarily become a vampire!
Ize’s guess had been cruelly proven true once again!
No one was more devastated than Dini. She looked at the unrecognizable Rose, her large eyes filled with tears and incomprehension. “Sister Rose… why? Why would you willingly become… become a monster?!”
Rose tilted her head, laughing in an almost seductive tone. “Dini, Sister hasn’t become a monster. Vampires are a far more perfect and superior race than humans! I came here because I wanted to take you with me, Dini, toward a more beautiful eternity. In the future, Dini, you will never age, never die, and you can immediately obtain powerful strength… Haven’t you been working hard at your cultivation lately, wanting to become stronger? I can make your wish come true right now.”
However, Dini’s small face showed an unprecedented determination. She shook her head forcefully, her voice clear and strong.
“I want to become strong because I want to protect my family and everyone with my own efforts! If I have to hurt others or become a monster to gain power, I’d rather not have it! That kind of power is not what I want at all!”
Rose’s smile instantly froze, her expression becoming incredibly gloomy. “You truly don’t know what’s good for you!”
Beside her, Horn listened with great interest, even clapping his hands and letting out a twisted laugh.
“Hahaha! Rose, do you see? This sister of yours is truly the complete opposite of you!”
He licked his fangs with his tongue, his gaze lingering greedily on Dini. “But… I especially like little ones with this kind of stubborn personality. Turning them into vampires and then forcing them to personally drain the blood of their closest kin, making them live as the very thing they loathe the most… that process is the ultimate pleasure in this world!”
Horn’s inhuman, extremely distorted, and perverted words completely collapsed the dam of Dior’s struggling sanity!
The memories of Dini crying and begging him to kill her after being converted in his past life, combined with Rose’s cold and crazed eyes after her fall, intertwined with Horn’s current face to form a rage that would burn everything!
“I WILL KILL YOU!!!”
Dior’s figure instantly vanished from his spot!
His longsword, wrapped in blazing Battle Qi, slashed violently toward Horn’s neck!
*CLANG—!*
With a heavy, echoing thud, the dense blood-mist barrier condensed in front of Horn steadily caught Dior’s rage-filled strike.
Blood-light and Battle Qi collided fiercely, sending out rolling shockwaves.
The corner of Horn’s mouth curled into a mocking arc. “Rose, I’ll leave those delicious ‘snacks’ over there to you. Don’t let me down.” He looked at the red-eyed Dior with great interest. “It’s not easy to encounter a ‘toy’ that’s actually decent. I’ll play with him for a bit first.”
Sarah, Emma, and Swan immediately shielded Dini tightly in the center. The gaze the three of them directed at Rose was filled with unbelievable shock and disdain.
Swan’s emotions were particularly complex. Looking at the woman who had once been betrothed to him, now voluntarily becoming a member of the enemy race that had slaughtered his family, the sense of absurdity and stinging pain was beyond words.
Feeling everyone’s gaze, Rose snorted coldly. “Don’t look at me with those eyes. People strive for higher ground; I simply made a wiser choice.” She tried to make her tone sound relaxed. “Since we were once acquaintances, I’ll try to be… a bit gentler with you.”
“Scum!” Sarah’s face was like frost as she squeezed the word through her teeth.
“Scum!” Emma was equally furious.
“Scum!” Swan’s voice was cold, filled with deep disappointment and resolve.
The three of them spitting the same curse in unison caused Rose’s composure to instantly shatter. The fake calmness on her face disappeared, replaced by a distorted expression of humiliation.
“Fine! Fine! Fine! Since you’re looking for death, don’t blame me for not being sentimental!”
***
In the shadows, Ize, who had witnessed the entire scene, had eyes that flickered.
He recalled Dior’s various actions before this…
His words and deeds were like those of someone who had foresight. He showed a level of shock at events that had already happened that felt as if they had deviated from his knowledge!
His understanding of the internal information of the vampires.
And his current deep-seated hatred for Horn, which exceeded common sense, as if it had accumulated over two lifetimes.
Clearly, for the past six years, this senior of his had been in closed-door cultivation. Normally, it would be impossible for him to know so many things…
A bold hypothesis gradually became clear in Ize’s heart.
‘This senior of mine, Dior… could he actually have… returned from the future?’
