Although the thought ‘Turn around immediately and escape this farce destined for social death’ tempted her like a demon’s whisper,
Ange’s gaze inadvertently swept over the pitiful fuel icon and mileage on the car’s display screen.
Then she thought about her bank balance—which was supporting her for now but would eventually run dry…
Ultimately, the gravity of reality triumphed over her shame.
She gritted her teeth, controlled the sports car, and drove into the massive, busy parking lot of City Center Hospital as if resigning herself to fate.
The vehicle stopped, and the engine cut out.
Ange did not get out of the car immediately.
She took a deep breath and looked down at her outfit: a tight black top, hot pants that were so short they almost broke safety limits, black silk stockings covering her legs, and a pair of black ankle boots.
This outfit might get some looks on the street, and on the Demon Hunting Battlefield, it was a blend of flexibility and sexiness… but did this look even a single bit like a rigorous, professional, and respected Medical Professor?!
Ange was not someone with social anxiety, nor was she a coward afraid to be seen.
She had faced the sights of Hell and fought the most hideous demons.
However, being asked to wear this to play the role of an Academic Authority made her wish she could be teleported directly to a Demon’s Den.
At least on the way out of there, she would only need to think about how to hack and slash, rather than how to deal with gazes full of suspicion and judgment.
“Heh, what’s this?”
In the passenger seat, Huayin keenly caught the expression on Ange’s face—one that shifted through various emotions before finally settling on a look of someone prepared to die.
A teasing curve touched her lips.
“Our Professor Angelina’s expression doesn’t look too good. Are you nervous?”
Ange rolled her eyes at her and tried to make one last struggle.
“What kind of professor wears black stockings and hot pants to an academic exchange or a project inspection?! This is beyond ridiculous! It’s practically the definition of absurd! I say we forget it, Huayin. Let’s be more practical and think about how to intercept Class E halfway and steal their results!”
In the back seat, Sakika’s dark eyes flashed with a sharp light. Her hand was already resting on the katana disguised as a briefcase, and her voice was calm yet hidden with killing intent.
“Are we going to move against them? I am ready.”
Ingrid hesitated, but she still obediently stated her position.
“If… if that is the plan Teacher approves of and thinks is better, I have no objections either!”
“Hey! Calm down! Everyone, calm down!”
Ange watched these two students who seemed to be seriously considering attacking their classmates and covered her face in agony.
“We are Demon Hunters, not bandits! We can’t just attack our competitors!”
She was suddenly incredibly grateful that her Problem Children Squad only had three people.
If there were even one more person who wanted to see the world burn, she might truly consider ending this miserable teaching career early.
“Fine, fine…”
Ange let out a long, resigned sigh, as if all her strength had been drained.
“Then we’ll follow your plan and sneak in by posing as internal staff.”
She pointed at her outfit, which had nothing to do with the word “professor.”
“But I need some decent clothes at least! Like this, forget being a professor, even the hospital’s cleaning ladies won’t believe me! I’d definitely be kicked out by security immediately!”
Huayin, however, wore an expression that said “how hard can it be” and spoke lightly.
“Just throw on a lab coat, isn’t that enough? It’ll cover everything up. Who could tell what you’re wearing underneath?”
“Do you think I’m carrying out some ‘Master’s mission’ or something?!” Ange was almost driven to laughter by the innocence Huayin was faking.
“Just throw on a lab coat and that’s it? You’re making it sound too simple! Temperament, manner of speech, and professional knowledge! Which of those can be faked with just a lab coat?”
“Master’s mission?” Ingrid blinked her innocent blue eyes and repeated curiously.
“What does that mean?”
Sakika immediately explained from the side in her waveless tone.
“It’s nothing, Ingrid. They’re joking. Just laugh along.”
After speaking, she even gave two symbolic “Heh, heh” laughs.
‘She’s such an innocent, naive sweetheart…’ Ange silently criticized Ingrid in her heart.
Huayin followed the momentum and said to Ange with a grin.
“That’s right, it is a Master’s mission—the mission I’m giving you.”
“Tsk. Firebird brat, don’t push your luck.” Ange glared at her.
“Fine, fine.” Huayin shrugged.
“A lab coat is enough. I mean, is anyone really going to get close enough to you to forcibly pull off your coat and check what’s underneath? With your skills, anyway.”
“Don’t try to gaslight me.” Ange wasn’t buying it.
“That’s two different things! Image Management is a basic skill of disguise!”
“Fine, I’ll be blunt then.” Huayin spread her hands, laying out the facts.
“I only prepared a lab coat and a pair of plain glasses. Nothing else. Wear it or don’t. If you don’t, then just go in like that. I’m not the one who’ll be embarrassed anyway.”
“Ugh!” Ange’s teeth itched with rage.
“Did you already schedule the time?!”
“That’s right.” Huayin looked at the expensive watch on her wrist.
“It’s 9:00 AM right now. Hurry up, Professor Angelina. The reception staff inside the hospital are waiting for us.”
“The next time you make this kind of decision, can you discuss it with the team first?!” Ange felt like she was about to have a heart attack.
“Wasn’t I just—” Huayin argued righteously.
“—eager to catch the demon! Time is life! I don’t want to be beaten by those guys from Class E!”
Sakika calmly added a finishing blow from the side.
“I think not wanting to be beaten is probably the main point.”
Ingrid also tried to ease the atmosphere, advising in her unique way.
“Huayin, there is no need to rush. We should take it slow, like a python—observing calmly and waiting for the right moment…”
Sakika commented again.
“The logic is sound, but saying that with your face, Ingrid, it sounds a bit silly.”
Ingrid gasped. “Huh?”
“Damn it!” Ange finally cursed and pushed the car door open.
“Fine, fine! Let’s go! Give me the clothes and glasses!”
She looked like she was heading to an execution ground, carrying an aura of someone who had burned their bridges.
“I’ll show you what the qualities of a real Demon Hunter should be! It’s just acting as a professor! Watch and learn!”
Watching Ange take the brand-new lab coat and the black-rimmed glasses before storming toward the hospital entrance, Huayin raised an eyebrow in surprise.
She hadn’t expected this person to actually accept such a ridiculous arrangement.
She had actually prepared several other “more normal” backup plans.
Looking at Ange’s back—which the lab coat failed to hide and instead added a touch of forbidden allure to her graceful figure—the corner of Huayin’s mouth couldn’t help but curl into a smirk.
‘Alright then, let’s see…’
‘Let’s see if our Professor Angelina can actually pull this off.’
